A definite maybe...As far as content goes it's rather thorough, Audi does manage to give a complete bottom up view of rationality. But, as he gets into the later stages of the book where the topic turns to ethical issues he gets a little presumptuous. Another issue I had was with Audi's homemade words. I recognize the fact that certain areas of philosophy have created their own technical nomenclature but some of his words are a bit of a stretch even for my liberal mind. Further, while not as hard to read as many other philosophy texts this was by no means a pleasure read, and if it had not been required reading I would have opted for more pleasurable tasks such as watching paint dry.
If you have a background in philosophy or epistemology (or are disposed to masochistic habits) I suggest you buy this book. After all, Audi does pull together his entire theory of rationality into one book, and this is no easy feat for anyone. But for those of you unaccustomed to technical, poorly written (for most philosophers, not to point a finger solely at Audi) philosophy texts, I say find an easier to read introductory book somewhere else.

Somewhat UnsatisfyingIf you know what you want to change, the book has good info. If you are trying to diagnose ... try again.

Master of The Four RingsThe strongest side of this book is the accurate, detailed information in every chapter, with a lot of nice footage. Especially the post-war story is impressive in every sense.
On the other hand, as this book is written inhouse at Audi AG in Germany, almost every sign of critisism is wiped out of the book, except where it cannot hurt to mention the flaws anymore.
The last star in my rating will be given when Audi adds color-photos to the book! There is also one other point I would like to mention, though it's a bit on the side: In the next issue, please use the German names for the different companies mentioned in the book!
All in all, A History of Progress : Chronicle of the Audi Ag is the best book I have read on the matter. This book is well worth the money for all lovers of Audi, except for those only interested in the last two or three decades.

Don't buy this bookThere is some brief history of Audi, a lot of racing history, and lot of turbo information, and not much else. The buying section is poor and mainly for overseas, the repairing section is only a few generic pictures and narratives and nothing usable, and the tuning only applies to turbos and high performance, nothing usable for the normal driver.
There is little about how the AWD works and how to optimally drive it for the normal driver.
A few tidbits of information, but definitly not a reference book.
There is a whole chapter on how to keep your car from being stolen, which I found silly.
Some nice pictures of race cars.
I find this an armchair book and not much else.
Better than nothing, I guess...Of course, satisfying a hard-core Ur-Q fan such as myself may be a difficult (if not impossible!) task. For those readers who've only recently come to learn that Audi was making AWD cars as far back as 1980, this book is probably a good introduction to them; for those of us already in-the-know, however, it comes across as yet another opportunity missed.
4 Stars and 4 rings! A great reference sourceHelpful photographs show examples of problems, etc. or great pictures of the Audi in its winning posture during the 80's as a Super B rallye winner!
Written in the UK, much information and shops are from the UK, and therefore difficult to contact from the US since internet addresses are not given.

Could be a lot betterbut for something simple e.g. instructions for simple
change of a front headlamp the book indicated total removal
of the headlamp unit on my '98 A4. Fortunately I
remembered to the dealership service advice that
I simply had to pop off a plastic cap behind the
headlamp, undo a clip, unplug the old bulb and replace
it - took less than 5 minutes - good thing I did not
follow the book!
Overpriced too.
Good for new do-it-yourself mechanic
It's a good book for the DIY'er
Though it's treatment of the mythological story seems quite conscise it seems to fail to really bind this and it's psychological interpretations to any tangible real world experience of my male psyche. In a way it is to abstract, not tying things back to reality.
Thus it offered so far (finished it a few hours ago) no real insights or answers. How many questions and different ways to look at things and approaches to take as well as those experiences of catching your inner world tricking you it will induce will have to be seen.
All in all at 80 pages and it's small format a very pleasant and worthwile read.
A note about another reviewer's complaint about it being heavy on preachy christianism. I am normally quite allergic to christian preachyness in 'unrelated' books like these. And though I have noticed slight hints thereof, it is by no way as bad as the reviewer makes it look like.
