This culinary memoir of the author's childhood in Barbados describes his early introduction to cooking, his involvement with native dishes, and his progress in becoming a cook. Don't look for recipes here; it's more a memoir and biography of Barbados cooking, though descriptions of preparing dishes are lovingly detailed and rival James Beard's American presentations.

This is a delightful story for reading aloud or for a beginning reader. My daughter has read it countless times, and loves the fact that it is such a small book that she can put it in her pocket and take it wherever she goes. She delights in examining the pictures for every little detail. We love Martin Waddell and enjoy all his books.

This book is a true masterpiece,delightful in every respect as are all of Virginia Austins childrens books.Not only are the illustrations exceptional but the story is complete and the lessons are easily understood and digested by young minds.

If I had to recommend one philosophy book to the layman, this would be it. It's a lucid and entertaining look at the various arguments made for sensory skepticism. The first philosophy book to make me laugh out loud.

Austine is one of the greatest philosophers that came out of Oxford's ordinary langauge school of philosophy. His text is both aggressive but pleasant to read. Much of his critique of logical positivism is still convincing, however there have been those who criticize his method (not unfairly). I highly recommend this book to any one interested in seeing an example of how to use language, as the first step, in analyzing complex positions.

My Husband and I visited Houston, San Antonio & Austin, we only had a couple of weeks in which to fit in as much as we could. This book was a brilliant way to get the most from a short time. It helped us to enjoy our visit to the full. We hope to visit more of the USA and shall certainly use this type of book again.

I really enjoyed using Day Trips from San Antonio and Austin to plan several recent weekend excursions. I found the book very helpful and used it to plan a trip to Corpus Christi and another to the Hill Country. Even though I have lived in this area for over 20 years, I found many hidden treasures thanks to this guide!

Having read twenty or thirty investment books, this one has got to be one of the best introductory to advanced texts I've seen. It is an extremely easy read and a great reference book. I especially like the author's highlighting of the most important concepts in each section.

This is a must read for anyone wondering about investing or retirement plans. Mr. Pryor gives a step by step plan to make and then meet your financial goals. He clearly explains all forms of investments with their risks and benefits. If you have any questions about investing, Mr. Pryor explains everything in a simple to understand manner. If you are old enough to earn money, this book is worth investing in. I wish I had read this years ago.

this book and the other 15 stories are scary, exiting and they dont drag. It's fun to read because it's not only a book but a game too!!

This book is explained as a "which way book", which means the story starts the same, but at the end of the page you get to pick one of two options which allows you to bring the story where you want. So every time you read it, it's like reading a different book. It's well written and each story is interesting. My kids can't stop reading it!

I beleive that anyone looking for an automobile that could have been made in the US, will find it in this book. Very well written and informative.

The Author's of this book have done a fantastic job of researching and documenting the early history of the American automobile. I have found this book to be an invaluable reference in researching the history of the automobile stock and bond certificates which I collect.

Even the most obscure and low-key manufacturer is covered. This book is well worth it's price and my only criticism would be...if all other readers used it as much as I do...please publish the next edition in hardcover!!

This is an excellently written romance - tender and heartwarming.
Although Winn Sutton was blinded in an accident with "Rosie" I was expecting a bit more passionate denial and a knock on the head to restore his sight.
I did like the attitude of Cynthie Franklin and her son Greg in their developing relationship with Winn. I think I was looking for a more agressive approach on her part in taking up the reins of her life on the ranch.

And Kyle Dempsey, I could tell he was a worm right off the bat. When they are too good to be true that is usually the case. How could Cynthie believe this dude??

I got the feeling from the author that the neighbor, Ott was a creepy person. And I was intrigued with the character, Peter and how he rounded out the story. Louie, now, he was neat!

Widow or not, did she have to crawl in bed with Winn?? He seemed honest and honorable but he had issues. And she had troubles.

Altogether a very readable, good story.

Will recommend --M and pass on.

Winter "Winn" Sutton is a cowboy who is blinded on a cattle drive. Cynthie Franklin is a widow running a ranch and raising her young son. Cynthie nurses Winn through his blindness and encourages him that he is still useful and that love will see them through. Believable characters and a great storyline. Ms. Austin has done a wonderful job.

What can i not say about this book.... none of us really have the time to get into extensive research in huge hardcover books on the mundane details of electricity.. so what more could you ask for in a comprehensive thorough yet easy-to-read and understand book on electricity for any age...

I love this book. As a parent as well as a high school Science teacher, his book is priceless. I have learned over the years that children learn faster when they are learning with a sense of humor, combined with facts. This book combines both beautifully. It is a must for every educator and parent who wants their children to know about the wonderful world of science, and wants to help unfold the mysteries underneath the why's

To find a man like William Law in 17th century England is as unexpected as finding a violet blooming in the Arctic. It's almost beyond anyone's powers to fully describe the beauty, benevolence, and wisdom--and good solid sense--of his spiritual advice. Consider instead the character of those who have praised him: there's Samuel Johnson, who took up Law in a frivolous mood in his youth and found himself nearly bowled over; or closer to our own age, C. S. Lewis and Aldous Huxley. The most memorable parts of the _Serious_Call_ are those where Law (following the model of Theophrastus's _Characters_) describes several spiritual types and how their natures relate to the pursuit of the devout life. The _Spirit_of_Love_ is a later work, written after Law had been influenced by the German mystic Behmen; if you're not acquainted with Christian mysticism, it might be hard to follow. But do not miss Law's account of the Atonement, particularly if you're one who has always felt scandalized by the "blood sacrifice" theology emphasized in traditional Protestantism.

This is the most challenging book I have ever read on following the teachings of Christ practically in every day living. The conviction was so fierce that it was hard to get through the first chapter. His words bear so much truth it motivates you to want to be more like Christ himself.
