The chapters that make up this book were originally elements of a lecture course in Christian belief Farrer offered to Oxford undergraduates. The style is inviting, the ideas invigorating. Farrer remains what Michael Ramsey once called him: the one genius the Church of England has produced in the twentieth century. Great stuff!

If there were more religious poetry of the quality and tone that is found in this collection, there would be demand for it. Sybil Skakle tells it like it is! Searchings obviously developed out of a desire to come to terms with a difficult past. The honesty is both impressive and affecting. Who among us does not relate to lines such as "Oh, the torment of the soul / With hate that's not avenged. / Bottled up within the mind / Like a panther in his cage" ["Enmity"] and "How uncomfortable I have made you / Seeking God's perfect love in yours" ["Apology"]. A book that has a happy end, and lets you dream of long flowing dresses and dashing gentelmen!

The actual title of this book is "SERVICE" and it is an inspiring book.I've read many of this man's books and this is just another fine work of his.This work is aimed not at your average church goer but toward the person that has totally abandoned his life to Christ and the Father's will.The types that he draws from the Levites in the first part of the book was worth the price of the book itself.I would highly recomend it to any serious christian.

I have often heard people describe certain books by saying "I was unable to put it down," and although I have known what the phrase means I had always doubted that it was literally true. Until I started reading "Shoveling Smoke." Within the first few pages of this inaugural novel, I found myself totally immersed in a fascinating plot, filled with the kind of people we have all either known or heard about all our lives. Laughing out loud on one page, then moving to the edge of my seat on the next page, I saw lawyers in a brand new light. So often the object of jokes, the characters who inhabit the court rooms in this rapidly-moving novel are comical at times, and yet their commitment to justice and fairness does their profession proud. If you are looking for a novel that will bring a smile to your face while you are in the process of solving a mystery and seeing justice prevail, then "Shoveling Smoke" is for you -- a great read.

This book has sexual confessions by gay authors such as Bob Condron (who also wrote the novel Easy Money), Donovan Lee (who also wrote the novel Getting Past Almost), and Shaun Levin (whose stories have appeared in many anthologies and journals). All the stories here will keep you reading, to see what will happen next. I'll give you a hint: it might involve sex! This is a fun read, which is what gay readers expect from Alyson's erotica anthologies.

I highly recommend this book to all readers who love poetry. Ted Burke, Paul Dresman, and the other cast of poets included in this book share a talent for writing and yet maintain individual and unique voices.

It was funny,hilarious at times but I got a bit bored in some stages of the book. Most of the funny parts were REALLY funny!
BUT ALL IN ALL IT WAS A GREAT BOOK AND I SUGGEST YOU READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a highly recommendable book. A must for everyone interested in how human-comupter interaction is studied or conceived or debated.

Read about those topics, that are hot or ever-greens for the usability-interested.

Maybe you don't know all of those names in the title, but you will surely see why THEY've been chosen for the interviews.

The topics are presented the way they were raised with the interviewed persons - as dialogues, interviews.

This is a great way of approaching and exploring the thoughts and concepts that go across the entire field of software and internet development, and not through just one or two writers.

It's a lot of food for thought.

I wish I had read this book much earlier in my Christian life. It would have saved me a lot of unnecessary spiritual setbacks and outright defeats! What makes this a dynamic book is its recipes for personal victory over sin and the devil. It contains plans of action that have been worked out over time as Barry and his wife Kay have wrestled with the Scriptures and waged spiritual warfare against the Enemy. They are instructions that have known the test of time. The book also gives powerful illustrations about how to pray effectively and that get results. The chapter on how to pray for non-Christian relatives is a must read for all Christians! I highly recommend this book. Ross Tooley, author and lecturer.
