Exellent resourse for those wanting to upgrade.
Very fine treatment of the next level of performance for the Sprite/Midget. Not a tune up book for existing or original cars, but an excellent reference for aftermarket and upgrade for the car moving to the next level of performance.

Not enough
A great book, but I once published a small booklet that showed how to say "I Love You" in over 366 different languages of the world.

Overall an Interesting and Useful Volume
Most of the essays in this volume reflect a critical theory approach. I found the essays in Part II to be the most useful. Overall there are a sufficient number of articles that I will use again that this book is worth purchasing, but I would not call it a "must-have" volume.

Infamous Trials: An OK Book
I thought this was a good book. But I found that the information was lacking in the side of the plaintiff. I think that each chapter could be a little bigger and cutting out the pictures. But all in all it was interesting

Needs to be updated!!
I have used this book to teach basic Apollo for several years. While it is a good basic textbook and has met my classroom goals, it is in SERIOUS need of being updated. New formats and enhancements introduced over the last five years are not included in this version. My recommendation would be to look elsewhere for a more updated textbook as I have begun to do for my future classes.

post-nuke fun action reading!
In the 80's there were a few post-nuke book series that were great fun and easy-reading. This was one of the best!
If you liked the SUVIVALIST, CASCA, or DEATHLANDS series, then you should like to try and find these.

Opportunities Denied, Opportunities Diminished: Racial Discrimination in Hiring (Urban Institute Report 91-9)

Dry facts, but useful
Statistics, statistics, statistics. For those who believe that racial discrimination does not exist or who seem to think that affirmative action serves as a solid counterweight should read it. Useful in arguments against conservatives who claim racism is dead (see D'Souza,Dinesh). A less dry source with the same information was a Primetime Live special called "True Colors". If you can track it down, watch it. You won't regret it.

Dated but Amusing Collection of Previously Uncollected Stuff
People Have More Fun Than Anybody collects 19 of Thurber's stories/articles/letters, several cartoons, and one recipe that have been previously uncollected. Surely this is a classification that would have amused Thurber no end--are they now "non-uncollected" stories? In "Help! Help! Another Classificationization" Thurber sets himself against exactly this mindset. And frankly, at this late date in the late humorist's career, such a criteria for inclusion assures that the book will not bring us the best of his work.

However, Thurber is almost always witty, and even though some of the pieces are dated and irrelevant, all of the writings evoke at least a smile. The cartoons don't fare as well, some of them being merely puzzling. The end notes tell us that some cartoons had different captions in their original stages. The most wildly different is a picture of a woman leaning forward and speaking intently to a man. The published caption is "If I told you a dream I had about you, Mr. Price, would you promise not to do anyting about it unless you really want to?", but the earlier caption on Thurber's original drawing was "If they never found the husband's body could they do anything to the wife?"

This is essentially a collection for the die-hard Thurber fan (who are rather few on the ground these days, it seems) only. Others will probably do better to read The Thurber Carnival.

Academic Mumbo-Jumbo. . .
This book is really a compilation of academic papers on the various psychological and social aspects of narcolepsy. Each study goes into great (technical) detail about its methodology and its results -- however, what I found to be most interesting (and valuable) are the conclusions drawn by each researcher and his/her discussion of the implications of their findings that end each chapter. The book covers many aspects of narcolepsy -- quality of life issues (i.e. self-esteem, depression, social distance, etc.), issues in managing symptoms of narcolepsy (i.e. the role of prescription drugs, napping, psychological counseling, etc.), and political and legal issues -- that I have not read about anywhere else. Although you have to sift through a bunch of academic mumbo-jumbo at the beginning of each chapter, it is these concluding sections that, in my opinion, make the book a valuable addition to the library of anyone who is living with and/or (like myself) struggling to get a better handle on his/her narcolepsy.

Quick Tidings of Hong Kong
Published in Hardcover by Oxford Univ Pr (July, 1990)
Author: Austin Coates
Amazon base price: $21.00
Used price: $24.95

Hard going
You'd really have to be interested in the history of telecommunications in Hong Kong/Asia to pick this up. Except for a few situations and personalities, the telephone industry in Hong Kong seems to have grown rather haphazardly, as opposed to being strategically planned. The book may be of interest today (April 2000), in view of the possible merger between Cable & Wireless HKT and Pacific Century CyberWorks.
