This book features about 12 chapters, or articles, each written by a different CTO. I have never read such a great collection of essays from such highly esteemed technology professionals. To have a chance to know what the CTOs from GE, Boeing, PeopleSoft, BMC, BEA, Novell and others are thinking about the future of technology is an incredibly worthwhile tool. I highly recommend this book for every level technology professional, or anyone even remotely interested in technology and how it is going to affect their business.

For someone highly involved in technology and technology deals, this was a great look into some of the minds of the best in the business. A great look at the future of technology.

I collect rally books and this one is a great read. An inside look at the organization of a winning team that I could never experience on my own. Lots of neat stories and photos.

Imagine yourself in the pub at International Mini Meet. The place is crowded. Over there there's a clot of Miniacs at the feet of Hopkirk as he relates his triumphs. By the fire Makinen is holding court with spell bound wanna-be's. You're sitting in a quiet corner beside an elderly gentleman. You strike up a conversation and soon find that he used to be THE Works Rally mechanic. This book is a record of that conversation.

Don't expect a novel or autobiography. This book is neither. It's more like a stream of loosely connected anecdotes in more or less chronolocial order. But this is not a fault! It's better that Moylan's experiences be documented and published for all to enjoy than have them lost.

The chapters are broken up by the Works manager of the time - Marcus Chambers, Stuart Turner, Peter Browning, Basil Wales, Richard Seth-Smith, Bill Price and John Davenport. Within the chapters are the authors experiences on each rally under direction of the manager and are illustrated by photographs from his own collection and others - many never published before.

What this book does is shed considerable light on how the rallies were won and how the BMC Works cars made history. It's an essential companion to Marcus Chambers "Works Wonders - Rallying and Racing with BMC, Rootes and Chrysler" (Motor Racing Publications Ltd, 1995). Other books focus on the cars and drivers, like Peter Brownings "The Works Mini's" (1st edition, NLA)& "The Illustrated History of the Works Mini's in International Rallies and Races" (second edition, Foulis, 1996) and Trevor Lord's "Monte-Carlo - The Mini Legend Archive Album" (Brewin Books, 1994). But it's the behind the scenes people that ensure those cars were well prepared, well maintained and THERE at the finish. That work was done by expert mechanics like Brian Moylan.

If you have a passion for the history of motorsports, this book is for you. You'll learn where those 'Works modificaions' were born, how they performed in! service and what it was really like to be behind the scenes during the events which made Mini's famous. You'll also learn that none of these people were superheros. They were just blokes like you and me. They just happened to be at the right place at the right time.... a time which will never be repeated.

This book is well laid out and is easy to follow. I would recommend thisbook to any one who want's to squeeze more power out of the small bore a series engine.

Mr. Thompson has many years experience in the telecommunications industry, and after finishing his course at Texas State Technical College, I would have to say that this book is a must keep for any technical professional who deals with any form of telecommunications. Kudos to my friend for a great book! Just teach from it more!
