amazons information is out of date, alas, as this book has been on sale in bookstores since january l0, and it is now a roaring bestseller throughout the state of new york, why not thruout the country and the world?

I bought it because my husband collects windup toys and this book comes with two! (surprised him with it - something very difficult to do!) Beautifully illustrated and a cute story - a hit for race fans young and old!

On our recent trip to Cologne, we found this book was an invaluable companion. If you're not familiar with the Blue Guide series of travel books, they do not cover hotels and restaurants and evening entertainment, but they do cover details about history, architecture, museums, cathedrals, etc., and provide a plan of the major cities. Cities and towns are organized by routes, so if you are driving from one city to the next they are indispensable.

In Germany, we loved reading the details about the Dom, and several surrounding less famous churches. The specifics regarding the details in the various museums, the highlights of what you'll see, etc, were very helpful in helping us budget our time.

This edition is a little our of date, however, and museum hours have changed in some instances, so call ahead.

From my first RB repair manual VW Golf 85-92, I was able tocomplete many tasks from brakes to suspension then even did my ownclutch... Then now with my BMW this book is nothing but outstanding. Does not even compare on any scale to Haynes or Chilton.

This collection includes songs written by Hanns Eisler for plays by Brecht (Die Massnahme et al.), "mass songs" such as the United Front Song (Einheitsfrontlied), and selections from the Hollywood Liederbuch, with texts written by Brecht while he and Eisler were living in Southern California. In some cases, Eisler set Brecht poems which were also set by Kurt Weill; the comparison is enlightening. This is a fine introduction to the work of an important, complex, and (until recently) neglected 20th century composer.

In 1982, Australian Lew Blackmore (not Len) entered his fully functional, one quarter scale model of the Bentley BR2 rotary engine in the British Model Engineer Exhibition, winning the Duke of Edinburgh Challenge Cup and becoming the first winner to take it from British soil. The Model Engineer magazine later published a long series of articles by Lew, illustrated with drawings, plans and photographs, for others wanting to build their own BR2 model. Lew followed up in 1986 by refining and expanding his series into a hardbound book which he self-published. This work has long since sold out, and has become a collectors' item, but Camden Live Steam (UK) has reissued it in softcover to form the subject of this review.

For constructors of model internal combustion engines, I'd call this book an absolute must. It contains all you require in the way of plans, drawings of jigs and special cutters to reproduce Lew's engine. Many have done so and the sight and sound of one in action is something you'll not soon forget. The book is nicely composed, in two column format, profusely illustrated with plans, drawings and photographs. The text is clearly written to be enjoyed by builders and arm-chair model engineers alike. It begins by describing the history of WO Bentley's second engine design for the British Admiralty during World War One, showing a sectioned drawing of the BR2 and the Clerget rotary it was derived from. Subsequent chapters describe the research for the model and devote individual chapters to the components, including a working, scale oil pump and scale, but dummy, magnetos that hide the contact breaker system for a conventional coil ignition system. The book concludes with a reprint of the official BR2 Aero Engine handbook of 1925.

Sadly, Lew is no longer with us, passing away in the mid 1990's before he was able to complete the astounding Napier Lion miniature replica he was working on. His achievements are all the more noteworthy for his not having an engineering background--only taking up model engineering following his retirement. His legacy, in the form of this book, will be enjoyed by model builders and aero engine historians alike.

I "discovered" The Catching Self by accident, and consider it a great "find." The poems are intelligent, mature, and accessible. Or...as Linda Paston comments on the book's back cover, "very good indeed; original, assured, just a touch sardonic." Quite a relief from the shallow and cryptic poetry that's generally being published now. I read in the Boston Globe recently that the poet, John Ronan, won a 1999 National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. Maybe the award will motivate him to publish another collection. I want to read more!!

"Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons" is one of the better "Supermarionation" series that came from the hands of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, known by Americans as well as those in the UK for their many classic puppet series "Supercar", "Fireball XL5", "Stingray", and especially "Thunderbirds"- and their classic live action "UFO" and "Space Precinct".

The Captain Scarlet series also was shown in the USA, but in a limited market originally and with wider exposure via compilation films on Showtime and HBO and later on SciFi Channel. Captain Scarlet marked one of the first Supermarionation series to have a truly dark and serious storyline, with an invisible alien race, the Mysterons, seeking revenge for an attack made in error on their cities on Mars. The Mysterons then declared war on Earth.

What made this story unique is that not only could the Mysterons destroy and regenerate matter of any kind- including humans, which then became their agents- they often freely killed humans and sometimes succeeded in their goals, winning as well as losing to the agents of the world-wide defense organization Spectrum. Chief among these agents (all codenamed after colors) is Captain Scarlet, originally killed then regenerated as a Mysteron agent...

Captain Scarlet also adopted a truly realistic approach to its puppet designs, which had realistic proportions, a surprising amount of visible bloodshed, and often were sculpted to resemble the voice actors

This book is remarkable and serves not only as a great complete episode guide, but is packed with an incredible amount of information about the series, character bios, its actors, behind the scene details, mechanical effects, puppet facts, and story details. and a complete history of merchandise and the rare 33 RPM record side stories.

Whether you're a fan of this excellent action-packed sci-fi series, or just curious, this book will answer nearly every question you might have, and is an official, complete, and excellent treasure trove of information and detail.

I had this and lost it. Recently started a rebuild on my Spitfire and realized I had to get another copy. I have the Haynes book which isn't bad but this one seems to work better for me.

This manual is very detailed in the maintainance, operation, and repair of all 4-cyl TR-7 automobiles. No information is given for the 116 early rover V-8 Variants, but who has one! This tool by far outshines any "Auto Parts Store" manual. This manual includes the drivers handbook, wire diagrams, step by step flow chart style troubleshooting guides, and a list of other very helpful publications. I would recommend this book to any 7 owner. Happy Motoring!
