Not so good
My brother and I bought this book and used it to plan our biking trip in the Maritimes in 2001, but we weren't too happy with the route selection. Too many of the suggested routes were on main roads that were too busy with traffic. Bike touring is best when you get off the main roads, but this book doesn't help you find them. If you go to PEI, I do recommend that you bike on the clay roads that the book recommends. Don't follow the coastal roads--too much traffic. I like the Maritimes, in spite of this book!

A short ride for this book
Fortunately I only checked this book out from the library, but the condescending tone, vague directions and dining recommendations prompted me to review it here nonetheless. The snobbish tone pervades nearly all the ride descriptions, in turn disparaging tourism and tourists (I believe a cyclist would be a touring tourist!) and alternately being awed by Fort Worden as the supposed filming location of "An Officer and a Gentleman". She missed the correct attribution in the description of Fort Casey of course. Perhaps she was too distracted by the innkeeper's "(not a cyclist)" bathrobe.
Also take her "Eats" recommendations with a grain of salt. I'm certain that most of the fine dining establishments she suggests would not appreciate a sweaty textile athlete such as Wagonfeld dripping upon their tablecloth despite being clothed in "Capilene or Coolmax" as opposed to merely "plump and polyestered".
To be fair, I did get a couple of ideas for some new areas to explore with my bike, but it certainly won't be with her guidebook in my panier.

Wrong subject?
The picture on the cover does not depict an easy rider. As the cover is all we have to go by to make our on-line purchasing decision (given the lack of reviews), it does not inspire confidence!

The cover is wrong.
I didn't see the book, but if I judge a book by its cover......then this is the wrong book.

Sorry Keith but they didn't print the picture on the way it used to be.

Mountain Bike! New Hampshire: A Guide to the Classic Trail
Compared to other trail guides I've read, the author of this book is obviously not writing from too much first hand information or did not fully research each ride before writing about them. I would recommend this book only as an overview of SOME of the trails in NH, but would not recommend that anyone head out on a new trail relying only on this book to get you back.

This book misrepresents trails
My wife & I bought this book last year to find some new rides close to our home. We finaly made it out to New Hampshire this past weekend and chose a ride listed as "Beginner" in the book. What the book called a nice ride, turned out to be nearly impassible single track riddled with boulders & roots, not to mention swamp & knee deep mudd. We spent the majority of the 12 mile ride actually walking our bikes. By the end of the trail, we were covered in mudd & exhausted. I can't imagine that the authors actually rode this trail before writting this book.

Don't Read This Book
As an avid outdoor's person, I have to say that I was thoroughly disappointed by this book. Some of the information it contains is inaccurate, and the writing style is pretty . . . . YAWN. I hate to be so brutal, but this book is a waste of money.

Don't bother.

Let This Remain Out Of Print
As a novice biker, trying to understand how to maintain and repair my bike, this book was almost useless to me. There is not even a diagram of a bike naming all its parts! The authors have assumed that the reader has some knowledge which is a huge mistake. Sorry, lads. You're going to have to do a lot better to come up with a book that's clear, easy to read, and, much more fun than yours is.

Has This Guy Ever Been on a Mountain Bike?
Wow, I picked this up for my son, hoping to find a good, up-to-date and well written book on this subject, and was I ever disappointed. As a single parent with a small income, I am really careful about the goods I buy, and I just don't feel that the price of this book merits what it contains.

Terrible. Plain and simple
This is without a doubt the worst gudiebook I have ever used. The maps are innacurate and often wildly misleading, and the way the directions are written, it is nearly impossible not to get lost. We couldn't even follow a ride near our house where we knew the streets. Worse, many of the suggested routes are completely unsuitable for bicycle passage. We actually threw this book away, we became so frustrated with it...
