This is a feel good book
It's a take a break, change your life, do what you gotta do feel good book. Frankie is a stressed exec who is so dedicated to her job she takes her work on vacation with her. Randy is a beach bum whose main goal in life is to avoid responsibility of any kind. These two get together and manage to teach each other something about living life to the fullest and being true to yourself. The real joy of this book though was the ending. Ms. Bond didn't take the easy way out, she took both of her characters and made them grow as people, beyond the relationship. I would definitely recommoned this book to the romance reader who is tired of heavy angst and social issues and just wants to have fun. This is a great light-hearted romantic read, perfect for summer or any vacation.

Better than Chocolate for Valentine's!
Having a bad day...purse snatched...missed the cruise ship? But it's not all bad. Frankie is on Key West about to be saved from the rat race. Once again Stephanie Bond creates a story filled with laughter, heart and a lot of wicked touching!!

I am ready to fly down to Key West--NOW!

Action packed thriller from first to last page
African-American bounty hunter C.J. Floyd is frequently without money but never without adventure. His entourage includes Jamican born cowboy Billy De Long, the beautiful, patient, loving girlfriend Mavis; outgoing secretary and soon to be lawyer, Julie; ex-marine, new secretary Flora Jean; and ex-rodeo cowboys Dittier and Morgan.

C.J needs these key individuals to maintain his business and actually to sustain his life. He is a bail bondsman and sometimes bounty hunter who performs his work in the new, wild west.

This is the third in a series of novels by Mr. Greer and I think it is his best work yet.

Fun and entertaining
After earning $3K on a difficult but successful chase, Denver bail bond agent and bounty hunter CJ Floyd is looking forward to some needed R&R with his main woman. However, Morgan Williams and Dittier plead with CJ to look into the strange death of another friend, rodeo Hall of Famer Cletus Dolbey. Though CJ prefers to stay out of the way of the official police investigation, he agrees to investigate what happened to Cletus.

CJ soon learns that Cletus was found in a body of water, wearing a wet suit though the deceased was deathly afraid of water. He also learns that Cletus claimed to have found diamonds on his property. CJ begins to wonder if the murder of Cletus is over the diamonds or a simple act of jealousy over the rodeo star's success on the circuit. As another one of his cases interferes with his inquiries, CJ tries to uncover the identity of the culprit responsible for murdering a friend.

The third CJ Floyd novel, like the previous two books (THE DEVIL'S HATBAND and THE DEVIL'S RED NICKEL) is a wonderful who-done-it due to the lead protagonist and his friends. The story line consists of two cases that constantly moves forward in a fast-paced, exciting way. However, what makes this series so entertaining is Robert Greer's brilliant talent which allows CJ, a middle class black American, to struggle with white society without condemning anyone. This turns a well-written who-done-it into a top notch book. Harriet Klausner

It'll Keep You Guessing Till The Very End...
The Devil's Hatband is my first Robert Greer novel. A friend who reviews for a California-based magazine told me about him since she knew I'm interested in the mystery genre. CJ Floyd is a character that gets to your heart. I know some folks like their detectives (CJ's a bounty hunter, but you'd just as well call him a detective) hardboiled. CJ is tough but also a thinker. I like that. Mr. Greer wrote a very believable tale about the cattle industry in a time when a comment from Oprah can throw them into an uproar. I never realized how cutthroat the cattle business could be. And Mr. Greer peopled his novel with memorable folks like Billy Delong, Dittier Atkins and Morgan Williams broken down ex-rodeo cowboys whom I hated to say so long to. And Mavis, CJ's on-again, off-again lady who had HIS number but still liked to call sometimes. Fresh, lively and thoroughly entertaining. I'm ordering the other CJ Floyd mysteries.

DEFINITE NAIL-BITER.
THE DEVIL'S HATBAND IS AN IMPRESSIVE NOVEL FROM ROBERT O GREER. GREER HAS A TALENT FOR DEVELOPING BOTH LOVABLE AND HATEFUL CHARACTERS. GREER ALSO WRITES VIVID DESCRIPTIONS OF THE BEAUTIFUL AND HARSH ASPECTS OF LIFE IN DENVER AND SURROUNDING AREAS. THE STRUGGLE BETWEEN CJ FLOYD (DENVER BONDSMAN) AND VARIOUS DEGREES OF LAWBREAKERS WILL COMPLETELY OCCUPY YOUR MIND UNTIL YOU'VE FINISHED THE BOOK -- AND PERHAPS EVEN AFTER THAT! WELL DONE DR. GREER!

For the James Bond 007 Role Playing Game
Just a quick note...this is a supplement for the 007 Role Playing Game (like Dungeons & Dragons). It is not the fiction novel.

Bond is Back!
I think Doctor No is a Great Book and anybody into James Bond will love it. If you love action and suspense you will love this book! This book is more for older children because of the language and violance. Still, that doesn't take the fun out of it!

Frank's best short story
Fabozzi has a lot of intuitive books, but I think this is the best concise book out there that give a focused discussion on Convexity and Duration. Lucid on all aspects of bond convexity and a very good analysis of option embedded bonds with negative convexity.

Comprehensive review of fundamental concepts.
the book gives the fundamentals of risk management. You can grasp the idea of duration, convexity and other commonly used terms. The book especially tells how you will use the terms, not to derive them. I recommend the book, it is indeed useful

Finally... a road map to interest rate models!!!
I had a strong background in equity derivative models but found the leap to interest rate models difficult. What are the relationships between short rates, forward rates, and term structure? How do assumptions translate into restrictions on our ability to model the "stylized facts" of interest rates? How are assumption violations "corrected" by practitioners?

This book answers all of these questions in a straightforward yet rigorous manner. Explanations are supplemented with simple examples.

After reading this book, I had the roadmap and analytical context I needed to tackle implementation focused books like Brigo and Mercurio.

As a bonus, this book provides a very nice summary of major valuation tools. (Monte Carlo simulation of martingale processes, development of pricing PDE via Feynman-Kac, development of fundamental solutions, etc.)

Begin your BGM, Libor & Swap market model journey here.
If you want a concise, clearly written and excellently explained introduction to the cutting edge interest rate models used in dealing rooms today. Look no further. With an elementary stochastic calculus background from Rennie & Baxter, this book is very readable, even on a crowded train! For those who want more details & case studies, have Interest Rate Models by Brigo & Mercurio as a companion text. With useful tips on Libor & swap market model implementation, and a whole chapter devoted to convexity correction. One of the best texts on the subject I have read.

Without parallel in Materials Science literature
This book has no parallel in the literature of theoretical materials science. The information contained in the book allows first principle calculations of properties of important technological materials like perovskite oxides, semiconductors, etc. I would suggest the reader to consult the papers by R. Haydock and others in Solid State Physics, vol.35 of 1980 to
complemment the methods presented in the book.

Essential book for condensed matter physicists
If you are studying the solid state physics, it is a necessary book for you. It covers various properties of almost all kinds of solid state materials and shows pretty new experimental data from reliable sources. This book also starts with a clear introduction in each chapter so that even for a beginner, it is easy to read. This book will be a good reference book for you to find out the definition of terminologies in this field. Personally, I use this book as a referece frequently.

This book is definitely not a book you can read through quickly but a book where you find out information through your life.

If you are a scientist and interested in solid state physics like semiconductor or metal, this is also a good book to get a good guide and introduction.

Romances, inventions, & intrigue
Nelson Bond is a wizard at creating bizarre, unusual story lines which excel in the unexpected, and his original stories comprising Far Side Of Nowhere, provide some unusual scenarios; from supernatural forces to wizards and magic. Romances, inventions, intrigue: all the stuff of thrilling fantasy and ordinary individuals caught in unbelievable worlds comes to life.

Ranging in mood from horror to heroic fantasy
The Far Side Of Nowhere is an impressively presented anthology of the sometimes bizarrely twisted, sometimes darkly imaged, and always captivating fantasy and science fiction stories of Nelson Bond. A master at skewing reality just enough to see a mirror glimpse of the secret dreams that lie beneath the humdrum, ordinary surface of daily life, Bond is a demonstrably talented writer who has clearly mastered the storytelling craft. Ranging in mood from horror to heroic fantasy, these stories are as evocative and engaging as they are striking and memorable.

Father : Famous Writers Celebrate the Bond Between Father and Child

O'Keefe delivers a great read!
I bought this book not because I had heard good things about it, though I had; but because not ever having a father myself, I have always been curious as to what they were really like. I'd expected to skip through the book, verifying my own thoughts as to what my father might have been like should he have opted to stick around, then stuff the book onto a shelf. Wrong! Once begun, I was hooked (and I'm not a fan of anthologies or short stories).

O'Keefe has pulled together a group of writers who depict almost every type of father imaginable, some loving, some distant, some giving and strong, others needy and weak, many in between. I found myself reading through the night, forgetting about my original reason for picking up the book.

Some that stood out for me were the pieces by E. Annie Proulx, Jane Praeger, Ana Veciana-Suarez (the scene where her father is shot in a drive-by is riveting, the ending touching) and Jonathan Kellerman.

What surprised me was that some of the better known names did not live up to what I'd expected. Dean Koontz came across cold and somewhat arrogant in his writing, though to be fair, this may just have been the particular character he wrote about. Interesting was the story by Jonathan Kellerman's son, Jesse. He does show potential, but his writing seemed flat and the characters one-dimensional. It goes to prove that becoming a good writer takes time and maturity, and perhaps paying your dues.

What I find really amazing, though, is that some of the best work in the book was by writers whose names were not familiar to me, and I am an eclectic reader. I have put their names in my mental file to look for again. Oh yes, Claudia O'Keefe's own essay came closest to what I was searching for when I bought Father. I would like to spend lunch with her to exchange thoughts on fathers. Her choice of restaurant, I'll buy. As for O'Keefe's editorship, she has managed to change my feelings about anthologies. Before reading Father I thought them nothing but literary grab bags. I'm now looking forward to her next one, whatever the subject she may chose.

I don't buy many books....
but I bought this one the moment I saw it. Fathers are a subject of such huge importance to families today, but so rarely discussed in modern literature. I thought Dean Koontz' essay about the atheist father who actively tried to deny his son any hope of eternal life was brilliant, but very dark, and a little soft at the end. John Updike's characters were good, but the story went nowhere. Claudia O'Keefe's portrait of the father she never knew until she was an adult and found out she was better off not knowing was memorable as was Caroline Leavit's picture of the family vacations from Purgatory. Jonathan Kellerman's semi-mystery of the cop who doesn't want his daughter following in his footsteps was unexpectedly touching, not to mention suspenseful. But to top them all off, that David Forsmark, a guy I've never heard of, blew them all away with a somewhat tongue-in-cheek tale of the woes of his fundamentalist upbringing which kept me glued - and grinning - from start to finish. I hope to see more books of this type and will definitely keep my eyes peeled for anything by Forsmark.
