A wonderful undergraduate aperitif to more advanced courses.
I must be brief, again: This book sums up all the chemical bonding concepts met with in the typical, present-day undergraduate Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry courses, as well as basic Q.Chem. The idea is that a student (a clever one, that never makes mistakes!) asks a master questions, and together they go through many areas of chemical bonding theory, and make interesting connections with ideas from other areas too.

All is Very accurate, which can be expected from a world-leading authority on chemical bonding and structural inorganic chemistry. Also, the writing is "madly" passionate and is likely to inspire many of those ho really go through this book to take more advanced courses (or just start thinking!) - since it will be realized that they will add immeasuarbly to one's enjoyment of everyt chemical discussion.

Ever felt that you were assuming things about chemical bonds on weak grounds? This book will clean all confusion out and send you to excellent literature for more detaĆls.

Yes, all the physical chemistry of a typical basic text is assumed, as well as a basic facility with the algebra of quantum mechanics.

This book I will recommend to every single student I meet... and to colleagues that dare not confess their doubts about Q.M., (that I am sure noone ever REALLY has understood)!

The Civil War and Yadkin County, North Carolina: A History With Contemporary Photographs and Letters; New Evidence Regarding Home Guard Activity and the Shootout at the Bond School House; A Roster of

The war within the war in western North Carolina.
A small western Piedmont county in North Carolina is the subject of this very unusual Civil War history. Written by a local historian with a rich knowledge of the county and its people, the book weaves the colorful threads of local characters and events into the big picture of the greatest war in our history. Battlefield stories and army life are recounted, partly in letters writen home by Yadkin soldiers in the field, but the most intriguing events are those that occurred on the home front. In a region of sharply divided loyalties, the woods of Yadkin County soon filled with "bushwhackers", men hiding out to escape concription into the Confederate army. The book tell of the locally famous shoot-out between some of these men and the Militia, of their arrest and the jail breaks that set them free, of executions by the Home Guard, and of the treks to Tennessee to join the Union army. In the last days of the war a Yankee Cavalry division led by George Stoneman rode through the county and Cassstevens treats us to previously unpublished stories of his famous raid.

More than a history, the book is also a genealogy. Appended lists name people who applied for pensions, men who served in the Militia, and men exempted from military service and why. A final appendix gives Yadkin men who served in the army with a summary of their service and, not infrequently, the names of their parents and other relatives. This book is for everyone with Yadkin County roots and for anyone interested in learning about the secret little wars within the Civil War.

Integrated classroom teachers need this book!
"Common Bonds" gives wonderful insight on how to be an anti-biased teacher. Anytime I have a question about integrated classrooms and diversity, I get out my book and I always find the answer, whether my question has to do with celebrating holidays in the classroom, dealing with same-sex parents or any other kind of racism. The author is great with advice on how to deal with contraversal situations in the classroom.

Rainy Day Love.....
Cornelia Augusta couldn't believe her eyes as this unusual downpour began. Instead of water falling from the sky, it was raining hearts. She caught bunches of them in her hands and slicker, and took them home. After examining her hearts carefully, Cornelia Augusta knew just what she wanted to do with each and every one of them.... Felicia Bond has brought back her 1983 picture book, originally titled, Four Valentines In A Rainstorm, and it's as sweet and charming today as it was almost twenty years ago. Her simple and gentle text is kept to a minimum. The actual story is told through her engaging, bright and expressive artwork, as Cornelius Augusta plans and constructs the perfect Valentine for each of four special friends. Preschoolers will enjoy watching her create each unique card, and guessing as to who will be receiving it. With a Valentine sticker page at the end to help your little ones get started on their own special Valentine cards, The Day It Rained Hearts is an endearing holiday book that shouldn't be missed.
