Well illustrated history of the teddy bear/500 pictures
Bearland is a well organized history of plush bears. There are photographs of owners as well as the bears themselves. It focues on the German,English, and American craftsmen and women who designed the bears. It concludes with information about current bearmakers. There is an unusual chapter about bears in books from Goldilocks to Brideshead Revisited. The list of addresses at the end includes museums in the U.S., Germany, Italy and England.

Hopefully it can be brought back in print.

Personal note: I have been noting the number of adults as well as children traveling with toy bears. Last month at the Boulder Colordo airport a lady had a bear in her tote she had brought home from the hospital when she was born. There is a tremendous interest in bears, and this book is really for everyone who has had a furry toy animal sitting on his/her bed.

Binya's Blue Umbrella

An immensly interesting book with a touch of perfection.
This book is exciting and thrilling to read.Written by 'The Original Bond', it has that fresh, mountain-air charm that so refreshingly characterise Bond's dreamy stories. The tale revolves around the bangle tinkling, lithe, agile Binya and her relationship with a skimpy, sky- blue umbrella scarved with a 'Lady's touch' which forms the most important vertex of the triangle, also involving Ram Bharosa, the stingy grouch. The umbrella then leads to an entire range of chain reactions, ranging from a physical scuffle, envy and finally, metamorphosis. Also her attachment to her brother,Bijju, shows a burst of sisterly love. The final irony seems to lie in the fact that at the end, the umbrella is abandoned to the pursuit of a better relationship. Bond, nevertheless, laughs his way to triumph, knowing that his audience love the book inspite of its paradox. Leading from tiger claws to victories and downfalls, this book is 'unputdownable'. Tripping lightly through the Mussourie landscape, the tale twists and turns as subtly as a stream, submerging all going through this book and seeping them with wonder at the charm, naivety and most of all, the simplicity of Binya's world.

Good Beginner to Intermediate Book
I'm going to be short with this review but I liked the book enough to log into Amazon and at least attempt to write something. First, easy read. Second, good analysis of yield curves. Third, provided a basic understanding of the concepts. Enough to get started.

I am going to buy yet another book on Bonds. It goes into more depth on each type of bond and investing for income.

However, this book was a great start to the cloudy world of bonds and the vocabulary that goes along with it.

Read this important Book!
This is a new, different telling of an old story. It really challenges what many have come to believe about slavery and the relationship between master and servant. Highlights the distinction between skilled and unskilled labor that is at the core of so many social problems (race, sex, class), yet is so often overlooked.

Bond of Vengeance

Vengeance to Love
This was the first novel by Steele that I read, and after that I have been reading each of her novels. The heroine is a lovable daughter, who is not too obnoxious but has a mind of her own. Her widowed mother marries a rich widower whose son has some reservations about the marriage. This causes some skirmish between the heroine and the son. How this bond of vengeance turns into love is extremelly interesting and touching. A must-keep book and a wonderful romance.

Want to read just one bond book? Make it this one
This is my favorite book on bonds. It is basic, but does not dodge technicalities; all necessary fundamentals are explained very clearly including why total return is more relevant than yield; real-world issues and market practices are addressed critically. A few peccadilloes take away the fifth star: the book is very US-focused, so European or Asian readers may want to look for a second source; it contains some typos; it gets overcommercial at times, as in "there is a formula for this, look it up in this other Fabozzi book"; and performance evaluation could be more detailed than "ring one of these software vendors". But great book anyway.

There is light at the end of the tunnel.
I only began reading this informative book two days ago, however, I am already of the opinion that this book is going to be the launch pad for my recovery. At 36 years of age, I could not understand why I have felt the way I do all of these years. The depths of "Depression" have been challenging and debilatating. My hopes lifted as soon as I picked up the book and read the first comment on the back cover.

" Depression: the imprisoning experience of isolation and fear which comes when we realize that there is a serious discrepancy between what we thought our life to be and what it actually is."

That was a powerful statement. It made me suddenly realise that if it could be summed up in so few words, then there was hope to cure me of this disease, or atleast the opportunity to live with it. The references to other people's situations and how they are affected is essential as one of the worst things about depression is feeling isolated and alone. When I read of other case studies, it is evident to me that there are many others suffering the same symptoms and struggling to find away out of the prison of depression.

Another aspect of the book which I find appealing is the use of words and terms that are easily understood by anyone. It has been helpful in my attempt at having my loved ones understand what I am going through. ie: " fear that everyone she loved and needed would reject her. She believed that no matter how hard she worked to make people love and need her, sooner or later they would discover that inside I'm foul and disgusting."

Overall this book is easy to read and understand. It has lifted my spirits a little and put me in touch with some part of me that I thought was lost. I am using this book as a stepping stone to other avenues of help.
