Good overall summary of Chevrolet engine rebuilding. This is a good book to use as a guideline while overhauling your Chevy V-8. However, it does not go into great detail on specific cars, since this would probably be impossible to do. If you have a good general knowlegde of cars and how they work then this is an excellent book for you to have at your side for more information and excellent tips. But, if you don't know that much about your car you should probably get a service manual for your car as well. An overall good book.
Comprehensive as well as educational for the noviceThe book covers not only the "nuts and bolts" of the engine family, but the methods and tricks used to do a good job. I would like to see more discussion on the design elements of the engine. For example, I needed to see the oil gallery flow diagram, but it's not in the book. Nevertheless, everything you need to know for a typical rebuild is well laid-out.

Good reading to get you going on that truck!I have had this book for several years and go back to it often to motivate and inform me on the restoration of my '52. They tend to favor the Advance Design series trucks, but there are commonalities for all year trucks. I really found useful the chapters on how to disasemble and clean. The book was full of helpful tips and ideas. Home brew degreaser, metal cleaning and rust memoval/repair tips, etc. The book was fairly well written and easy to understand without being simple or condesending. There are good pictures that help illustrate what you are reading about. I highly reccomend this book.
How to Restore Your Chevrolet PickupA Great starting point if you want to see whether or not you're cut out to do a full restoration or a rebuild of an older Chevy pickup. Things I liked about this book: It gives you a pretty thorough picture of what you're in for. Spells out what you'll need (shop tools) and the steps and time you'll need to do a good job. It also provides a list of where you can go for shop manuals and other technical references. Things I didn't like about this book: Black and white photography...

Chevy Truck ID Numbers 1946-1972 by Cars and Parts MagazineThis is a very handy reference book that will break down all the ID numbers including chassis, serial, VIN, engine, plus driveline components like the tranny and rear end, and it will help you ID that unknown truck in the junkyard. Is it a '52 or a '53? Is it a '47 or '49? All these questions are answerable with this reference book. Fairly complete and a good buy for those of you that don't keep this stuff in your head.
Have owned my copy for over 8 years and go to it frequently. Especially when considering interchange parts. Also, recommend , Standard Catalog of Light Duty American Trucks to go with it. A fascinating reference book for the light truck enthusiast.

Comprehensive manualMuch better than the Chilton manuals ... I've owned a couple of Chevettes and I've used both. The Haynes manual has much better procedure descriptions, and wiring diagrams that aren't even included in the Chiltion's books. If you plan to work on your Chevette you should get both books, but you won't go wrong relying on just the Haynes manual.

Lots of pictures and details. This book offers a very good overview of a complete restoration job for a 1969 Corvette. Unfortunately, the type of Corvette used is not specified in the title or on the cover, and you'd never guess, since on the cover there's a picture of a Sting Ray and a C4. I won't complain too much, since I have a 1968 and am in luck, but it might be a disappointment for others. Other that that, the book is great, it gets you off to a great start, it's not a NCRS level reference, but for a amateur mechanic who's looking to fix up his vette, it does more than a good job. It's also good at recommending the tools and materials as well as pointing to other references that might help you accomplish a specific task. They are also doing a frame off resto, so the pictures are great, as they were taken from angles you'd never get when you're doing a frame on resto. It could go a little more into detail for a inexpirienced mechanic, but I noticed that books like those are pretty much impossible to find. You just have to pay the dues and learn the basics yourself.

Good summary of all Chevrolet models in the 60'sThis is a good book if you'd like an overview of each Chevrolet model from 1960-1969. A chapter is devoted to each year, so there isn't a lot of detail on any individual year/model. It's more of a coffee table book than a reference book. Good photos.

Lotta good, in black and whiteWealth of information if you are a 9C1 fan...Too bad there are so few colored pics...Any fan would have been ready to pay twice as much and get a full color book !! Also, some pictures bear false information legends...most common mistake, the model year..Disappointing for a book which IS the "ouvrage de reference" in Chevy Cop cars...

Small Block Chevy Drag Race EngineThis book covers virtually all facets of building and tuning small block Chevy drag race engines. Although some of the information is a bit dated, it remains one of very few sources for technical and theoretical reasoning behind what makes a drag racing small block tick.
