Memory lane
All the cars I fondly remembered growing up. A few more pictures would have made this a 5 star book.

cars of the 60s
A book that can be used for the man who dream car is a ford mustang or chevy impala or even a dodge charger. its a great book for the person who lakes cars built in the us in the 1960s. a great buy!

Surprise
While browsing at the local bookstore, I picked this off the shelf and started thumbing through it. As an owner of a car from this era, I naturally went to that year and looked to see other cars like mine.

To my surprise a picture of the car I owned was inside! Well, I had to buy it. After getting the book home, I discovered that the book is great and very well put together.

There is not another book out there that covers this period of car as throughly as this one.

If you love cars from the 60's or happen to own one. You got to check this book out!

Good overview for restoring classic cars
Jim Richardson, seen on the syndicated "My Classic Car" series writes a good overview of restoring cars. He covers how to choose a specific car and teh steps necessary for a bsic restoration. Of course a car nut will still want to read a more definitive book for their car but this is a good first step

A great palce to start
Jim Richardson is now seen on the weekly syndicated TV series "Classic Car Garage" where he dispenses similar tips on restoring a classic car. Unlike some other authors, Jim approaches each segment with the genuine enthusiasm, experience, and credibility that only he can offer. Upon reading this book, you'll come away with useful knowledge, valuable tips learned from experience, and the feeling that you've known Jim for years as a trusted friend. I highly recommend it!

If you ever felt stupid for having sold a car you loved
Lawson managed to have a life and love affaire with usual and unusual cars. He attaches a distinct personality to the many cars he owned and writes about them and the adventures each car has provided for him and his friends (male and female!) Reading it makes you remember your own past! It will enthrall all of us who remember their very first car. Lawson had a great adventure and shares it with us. You will enjoy reading it - go for it!

A brilliant mix of auto expertise, biography, and love.
This great book reads very smoothly. You will find much information about cars, extraordinary people that Lawson Jones has met and dealt with and a story of life's development. And perhaps best of all finding the woman of his life. Enjoy!!!

Super Bee
The 1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee in the book that has the Superbird wing on the back is not a stock car, that makes people think that Dodge made that car in 1970.

One of the best Muscle Car books ever !!!
This book is packed full of valuable information, and lots of great photos. Absolutely mesmerizing and incredibly well-written. It covers the complete muscle car years...from 1961-1974. Enlightening, Entertaining and Candid
If you are of an autombile mind, then "Road Trips..." is a great book to read while in the coffee shop, waiting for the drawbridge to come down, or just to fill time. It is a collection of short stories from various authors, making it a collage of driving cultural tidbits that inform and entertain. The hardcover edition is nostalgical, appealing--a beautiful, classical cover with natural, thick pages--that made me want to head down to Route 66 from beginning to end, and hit every diner in between. I'm glad to be a part of the American Culture, and especially the driving culuture, as peoples past could not have imagined--nor enjoyed--the thrill at travelling at a mile a minute as easily as putting on your clothes. "Road Trips..." is a journey in itself, and I dare not spoil the trip for you. Lindamood did a fantastic editing job by keeping her hands out of the mix unless necessary; she let the writer do the talking. Great reading for all minds over 15 (language). Makes a great gift for the driver in your life.

Road Trips Rocks
This book is a well compiled anthology of porbably the best Automotive writings anywhere. Try it! Also...if you like this you should read her monthly column in Automobile Magazine.

This Old Corvette
A timely book for the the 50th anniversary of the Corvette. The stories were entertaining and well done. The authors are some of the best known people in the Corvette world and ordinary Corvette owners as well. I have two copies of this book, one for my office and one for my home. I have recomended it to all my Corvette buddies around the country. You will not be disapointed.

A Great Way to Increase Your Corvette Pleasure!
The Corvette turned 50 this year. Yet it seems like this American icon has always been with us.

I belong to that huge majority, people who have always wanted to own a Corvette . . . but never have. I was delighted to see that this book even includes us. The first essay, "Ever Want to Buy a Corvette?," talks about all the "good" reasons why we never did buy one. I found myself there. That whetted my appetite to read about those who took the big step, and learn more about how it affected their lives.

The long and the short is that this book makes me want to own a Corvette more than ever. I hope I decide to act on that long delayed desire soon!

The book features wonderful photographs and artwork of the most gorgeous Corvettes, even showing some that have been over customized. I found my appreciation for the styling growing after I saw how little the design could be improved visually.

The essays come at the subject from every direction -- speed, buying, fixing up, sharing, and the effects on one's marriage. Less you think this is only a man's book, "Lifestyle of a Corvette Widower" will amuse you with the woman's version of the life of a man whose wife owns a 'Vette.

The book is also good on history, including a timeline of key events, tracking down one of the original cars and sharing the letter that saved the Corvette project from being scrapped in the early days.

My favorite essay was Martin Milner's about his days as an actor on "Route 66" when George Maharis and he drove their beautiful new Corvettes off to new adventures every week.

Although I cannot speak as a Corvette owner, I suspect that this book would make a great gift to someone who does indulge in that wonderful status.

Enjoy!

After you finish this wonderful book, be sure to go out for a drive (even if it's only a test drive) or a Corvette.

A commendable effort
I too enjoyed the original print ads for a great many of the cars shown. And the information is generally reliable as well. Although one should keep an open mind. In the section covering the 1968 Dodge Charger R/T the editor states that this is the car driven by Steve McQueen in "Bullitt." This, of course, is not true as McQueen drove a Ford Mustang fastback; the mafia hitmen drove a black Charger 440 R/T.

Standard Guide to American Muscle Cars
Pretty good book in that it covers a lot of muscle cars and a long time span. I like the way the book uses many original ads and it is fairly complete in its coverage. I would like to see better pictures and more proofreading. I noticed that some of the information about certain cars is incorrect or transposed. It also appears that some of the picture captions are not associated with the proper picture.

Standard Guide to American Muscle Cars
Overall a very informative book on muscle cars from the '60's to the '90's. It's an excellent start for us younger people to learn about the older muscle cars that we didn't get to see as we were growing up. This book covers most of the significant muscle cars that have come out of America from the years 1960-1995. If you are interested in buying a muscle car but aren't exactly sure what car you want to get, this book will help you narrow down your choices.

wanted a little more
what was in the book was great, but i thought there should have been more. i wanted info on some of my favorite cars(i.e. sox and martin and so on)on top of cars that were featured but relatively unknown

One of the best!
Not only does Robert Genat take outstanding photographs of the hot rods in his book, the accompanying text matches the quality of the photographs big time. He explores the world of drag racing in a manner that is enjoyable for both racing addicts as well as the novice. His text is easy-reading and makes the history of each car, owner and driver come alive. He covers cars that were in action from the 50s into the 70s. Drag racing is a somewhat neglected sport media-wise with the recent popularity of stock car racing so this book is a very welcome addition to any die-hard drag racing fan's library.

A must for the true drag racing fan
This is an excellent book written by someone that obviously has been a drag racing enthusiast for years. He is able to show through words and pictures a real history of some of the important cars that have made a mark on this sport. The photography is first rate and will make one appreciate how incredible the early machines actually were. As a longtime fan of drag racing, I'm hoping that a second book is in the works.

A Good Bedtime Read
The Book's title is in fact quite true to its content, in that it only contains the essential facts about the Cooper.

The Cooper's development is quite well detailed, and this makes the book ideal for the enthusiast seeking his first book about the Mini Cooper.

Mini restorers however, need to go into much greater detail than what this book can ever offer.

Pictorially, the book is well-illustrated, though mainly in black and white. There is a slight imbalance towards Austin Cooper models in the pictures, as few Morris Coopers actually feature.

However, the book remains a great addition to the shelves of those who want an entertaining read about the Mini Cooper story, in its production and competition guises, and merits a place on the bookshelf, in the company of other books about the Mini.

Quick reference
This book has just what you need for a person who is constantly on the run. It provides pictures that demonstrate the appeal of the mini's. It provides a short chronological history of the 30+ years reign of the mini's. But, best of all (again for those always on the run) it's short enough to be a quick reference, yet long enough to give its reader a whole rounded experience of the mini's plight.

essential coopers
great boook for anyone interested in the cooper minis, spells out what a cooper is, remember, not every mini is a true cooper!
