A Flyguy's Dream Book...."Flywater" contains voluptuous shots of sport's top waterbodies in the West and has helped me make it through several dreary winters in the Pacific Northwest. The photography and layout is top-notch and you soon get the feeling that you would've given ANYTHING to have been one of the folks involved with putting this package together. Just be sure to wear a bib when looking inside so you don't make indelible drool marks on the pages!
A great concept, professionally executed, that belongs on every serious flyfisher's bookshelf. I'd LOVE to have the photos available on CD ROM as a screensaver...

The best books for travel!Whenever my family decides to go on a vacation, we always try to get a Fodor's guide for the location we've picked. Great details about all local "must-sees", restaurants, adventuresome activities, and much more. I highly reccomend this book and other Fodor's travel books. Thanks to this book, a trip to Vancouver that may have been a total mess was spectacular and well planned!

Fraser Valley City Maps Book
Published in Mass Market Paperback by GM Johnson and Associates, Ltd. (01 April, 1999)

Vancouver is just a startThe city of Vancouver is a great place, but you will quickly find out that there is a lot more to explore outside of the city. And if you want to do that exploration, I strongly recommend this map book. It has accurate and detailed maps of most of the outlying communities. Use it and even the most "directionally-challenged" of us will not get lost.
I first got the Vancouver City Maps book (which I also recommend) and then quickly discovered the value of getting this second one. The really nice part is that at this price you can afford to buy both.

Very smoothly written and easy to follow. The book starts with the birth of Cedar Falls, and then moves into the beginning of the war and the call for volunteers. Two different companies were formed from Cedar Falls, and the book follows them both through the war in a very smooth and chronological order. You get to know a few individuals from each company really well through Kenneth's writing.
Also you get to see and feel what the town reaction through out the war was like. Their feelings, their emotions, their hopes and dreams.
Mr. Lyftogt really did some outstanding research into this work. And I was hooked from the first day. This certainly was a book that once I picked it up, I didn't want to put it down.

I liked this bookI liked this book because it was one of those books that makes you not want to stop reading. Some parts of the story were scary because I always read in the dark. My mom kept on yelling at me because she wanted me to go to sleep but I didn't want to because I still wanted to read the book. It was pretty easy to follow and some parts were weird, but I liked it. I'm 12 years old, and I would recommend this book to people 12 years and older that like adventure books.

The great blue heron : a natural history and ecology of a seashore sentinel
Published in Unknown Binding by UBC Press ()
Amazon base price: $
Average review score:

Definitive resource on a crucial environmental iconEcobeetle has concerns for all species and habitats and the great blue heron is a favorite animal. Beautiful and majestic in flight the Heron is the sentinel of the shoreline and wetlands. Throughout British Columbia this species is under threat through loss of habitat and nesting sites due to encroaching development. The appearance of a thriving heron population is a measurement of a healthy ecosystem. Unfortunately as Robert Butler describes and summarizies in his book 'The Great Blue Heron' that the status of the heron and it's recent struggles with the rapid development of BC's Fraser Valley is a foreshadowing and environmental warning concerning the health of all west coast animal and marine life. Conservation and protection of this magnificent bird is of paramount importance for the Great Blue Heron is a west coast icon, a symbol of our health as an enviroment. Ecobeetle highly recommends this book to anyone with a concern for species at risk or an interest in natural history.
