A Deer-iffic Book
If you love snow, this book is for you. I'll leave the mystery up to you. Anyways, they visit a cabin. Then, after Tom Nelson finds his recipie for his father's secret buns he names it after Benny. Benny's Buns. The recipie is in the book.

Bound for fun
The Snow Boun Mystery is actually my favorite Boxcar Children Book, I'm not kidding either! Once when I ran out of books to read and my Mother refused to take me to the librarie I read the whole book twice. Since I've been reading other childrens mysteries the book is harder for me to remember.Ifeel like reading it right now! some things I remember are that the Aldens Grandfather ,James Alden, has a friend who allows the Alden children his log cabin for some time. Also I remember a grocery store about a mile away and a nice family in which lives there , On the way to bring food to the Aldens one person gets stuck th others get to the Aldens and they get they get that person safe and sound where the family stays untll the storm wore off. There is also apart about finding letters in the attick, apart about Viiolet disapearing, and a part abouta closet near the fire place. I don't want to give all of it away but, it's just hard not to do.Thankyou for your time to read all about this fabulous book!

The Best of Chet
Anyone who has followed the career of Chet Cunningham will recognise in Nuke Down the qualities that have made him one of the best writers in the men's adventure genre, even if he is arguably the most underrated. Multiple plot lines, far-ranging and fascinating research, interesting villains, and compelling heroes of both sexes give you a terrific ride. Chet always gives you something extra in his books, some special angle that sticks with you after you've finished the last page. For those of you who are interested in writing books in the genre, Nuke Down is a textbook example of how to write action and how to manipulate action to entice the reader forward. At the center of the book is a thrilling story of terrorism seen from both sides. It's a rip-snorting read that will make you want to read more of Chet Cunningham's fiction.

Fun & escapist reading
Former CIA director reclusive industrialist J. August Marshal understands the blight of terrorism. Unable to idly sit by, he decides to form the Specialists, a cadre of law enforcement types around the world willing to cross the legal line to stop a terrorist from succeeding. Former CIA field agent Wade Thorne heads the group with Kat Killinger his second in command.

After some scenarios in the Middle East, the group proves it is an impressive fighting unit. They soon learn from an action on Iraqi soil that the "Big One' is planed for American soil with a six to seven digit death goal. Checking alternate source that confirm the reality of the threat, the Specialists try to find out what is really planned so they can stop it before hundreds of thousands of innocent people lose their lives.

Anyone, who enjoys an action-packed, explosive post-Soviet Union thriller will definitely want to read THE SPECIALISTS: NUKE DOWN. With so much going on, the readers never get to know the characters that well except how they react to danger. Chet Cunningham is the ultimate equal opportunity writer as he sends female commandos into the same scenarios as their male counterparts without a thought towards gender. This well-done novel will remind readers of Jack Higgins works placed inside a pulp thriller.

A Luminous Book for Christmas Reading
In STABLE RAT, Julia Cunningham is at her poetic best. Here, her unique voice is evident, singing strong and clear. Cunningham has an astonishing ability to see the world from an animal's point of view. Even a lowly rat is elevated to beauty as he shares the holy stable on the night of Jesus' birth. "I am a shadow, gray, gray, gray--never lightened by scarlet or splotched gold or even a dot of the green I see when I gaze from the cracks peering out of my necessary night." Another poem in the collection, "A Sheep Speaks", and a personal favorite of mine, begins: "I stand within my wool and wonder. There's been a great scurry ever since the sky blued and the wind stilled. Our leader looked up, pointing his nose at a star." Anita Lobel's astonishingly vivid illustrations make a perfect match for the poetry. Both are reverent and lyrical. Both leap beyond the limits of the expected and flash into brilliance.

WOW!!!!
This is one of the most beautiful children's books I have ever seen. Showed it to a friend (aged 45) who then went out and bought a copy--for herself. It really is a book for all ages. Wonderful poetry, gorgeous illustrations.

Tamburlaine the Great (Revels Student Editions)

Frickin' great!
I love the "Tamburlaine" of Christopher Marlowe, because I've read it and couldn't resist it. The story is not melodramatically forced, but rather follows in a smooth and epic line, giving it the texture of a documentary. As a tragedy it's weird, encompassing all drifts of literature: darkly humorous, rhetorical, romantic, violent and deep, with an indescribable grandeur. People commenting on Marlowe's work usually regard him as psychologically shallow, but in this play the terrifying hero is so charismatically evoked in his language, sometimes rhetoric and sometimes commonplace, that I left the book with a queer sense of something between love and dread. Even Tamburlaine's worst deeds, like his cursory humiliation of the captive kings, gain an odd flavour of predestination: they're more of the hijinx of a power-drunk teenager than the actions of a cynical tyrant. Everyone should read this work, in which the dark-tinted wonders of the mediaeval Orient are called up in some of the most steelishly beautiful poetry I've ever read.

A triumphant work of drama
This is the exciting story of Tamburlaine's relentless rise to greatness. His military victories are not presented directly, but evoked and described in some of the most splendid verse of the early Elizabethan theater. We also get to see a love story as Tamburlaine woos Zenocate, the captive daughter of one of his rivals.

An incredible amount of effort went into this book
If I had just skimmed through this book I would swear that this book was made specifically for use in completely reorienting the wiring in your average eight year olds biocircutry. Not only that it has been written in a style which should technically be understandable by your average eight year old... with an understanding in psychology, philosophy, and mysticism. Of course I am only kidding but goodness me this book really changed my understanding for the uses of an isolation tank apart from the other writings of Lilly's. Seriously I can't imagine a book more straight to the point blunt and clear. Remember " In the province of the mind what one believes to be true either is true or becomes true within limites to be found experientially."

imaginative
enlightening words about remarkable experiences that most can only imagine. Treated with respect and near reverence by an editor that takes the time to know her subject and her material.

Very impressive!

Informing and entertaining
What a great idea: to write the story of one imaginary class as it moves from grades K through 5 encountering different (but always reflective and hard working) teachers. It's a practical look at powerful literacy instruction in action. The teachers' "monthly logs" give the reader a peek inside their heads as they plan and evaluate their programs. This is a good read for brand new teachers (they will surely identify with "Miss Nouveau" in second grade!) and all those who strive to improve their instructional practice.

Teachers in Action-Fantastic
This is a great book and goes right along with the Four Blocks Literacy Program. It really explains how to implement the program in a sequential manner. After teaching Four Blocks this year I am excited to read this book. It really makes sense and I know will be a big help next year.

A great physiology reference
I would highly recommend this book. The next best thing to sitting in one of Dr. Cunningham's lectures. It is easy to understand, uses great examples and has good practice problems. I bought it for first year physiology and am constantly returning to it to brush up for other classes. Dr. C also designed the cool cover.

very useful, well written
as a veterinary student I have found this book to be both well written and inclusive of much of the information that I need. I recommend this book to anyone in veterinary or biological sciences.

Distilled Merton
I read this book as a Graduate Theology student. It was part of a semester course on Thomas Merton. Lawrence Cunningham did a great job compiling this anthology.

Because Merton was incredibly prolific, it's hard to know where to start--so many books, so many topics. Merton wrote on prayer, contemplation, solitude, war, monasticism, art, etc.

I recommend this book as a starting point You can read this anthology and go off in various directions depending on your particular Merton area of interest.

Additionally, Cunningham's introduction is worth the price of the book. He is an astute scholar of Merton and brings much wisdom to Merton's life and writing.

If you like Thomas Merton, buy this book. You won't be disappointed.

extremely positive
The editor chose most wisely--"Thomas Merton:Spiritual Master:The Essential Writings" is an excellent overview of Merton's writing. The book has great appeal to someone who has never read Merton, or to someone quite familiar with his works. The bibliography included is fantastic. Cunningham's work is a lovely and compelling piece of scholarship.

Great obscure read
My friend and I were roaming rummage sales in the summer of 1999 and I bought "The Visitor" as one of a dozen books for $1.00. I was so glad that I did. This intriguing tale is about a very strange young woman in a mental institution with terrifying powers. It is also the story of a husband and wife struggling to make their marriage succeed. The husband-a smug pychiatrist works at the institution where "the visitor" is housed. The story is fast paced and rewarding, though pretty gruesome at times. Its fabulous.

evil on the astral plane
this is easily cunninghams best book. the author of THE ABYSS and HUNTERS BLOOD is at his best in this captivating tale of murder and madness via the astral plane.......to say more would ruin this unpredictable yarn,so ill just say thatthis atmospheric andchilling deserved to be a bestseller on its release 20 years ago......

CD ROM
I am looking for a cd rom of thisbook, may be you can tell me if this cd exists? if yes how can I get it?
best regards Dr` Roman Korobochka MD

obstetrics,high-risk,maternal-fetal medicine
As a woman who has had a history of difficult pregnancies (including unexplained fetal demises), Williams Obstretrics was indispensable to me in my search for the causes of my missed abortions (late miscarriages). Many doctors feel the less patients know from firsthand sources (such as this book), the better it is. But for me, Williams Obstretrics answered many questions not only regarding my losses but also in my uncomplicated pregnancies. OBGYNs don't need to be told about this book; they swear by it. I think their patients should too.
