The Author builds a relationship between the reader and the central charactor of the story. The story is well told, and holds ones interest from the first page to the last. I found many facts that I did not know previous to the reading of this book, and I have lived in Athens, Alabama my entire life. There is a very strong theme in the work, and the factual content is blended skillfully with the fiction. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a good story and a compelling look into the workings of the Civil War.

I found this book to be very useful in writing papers for my nursing courses. It was thorough and well written.

I found this to be a beautiful book that inspires the reader to create places for everyday reverence and meditation to enjoy within and around the home. An ideal gift for daughters, sisters, mothers, friends. Highly recommended.

I felt that this book was written in the true Boxcar Children style. This is one of the original books in the series and has the same wonderful story line. I love the Boxcar children stories and recommend this one along with all the others.

This is a wonderful book! It is the history of Catholism arranged by grouping the main "movers and shakers" who have influenced the character and events of the church down through the ages. It is very interesting reading; an overview, certainly, but with witty comentary and a really excellent bibliography for further study at the end of each chapter. It is worth having for the information on "where to find more information" alone! I recommend it highly for the neophyte or the scholar.

Having read some of Mr. Cunningham's regional non-fiction, I was pleased to learn of his historical fiction work "Children of Promise". Set in the town of Currentville before the creation of Lake Barkley, this novel tells stories of a group of boys growing up in a town without a future. Mr. Cunningham's talent for painting with words makes one feel like part of the story. The format in which this book was written is unique and more interesting than the traditonal sequence. He also did a very good job of combining the true aspects of time period into the well-woven details of the fictional plot. I simply couldn't stop reading it.

These are the best guides to cruising the Sea of Cortez. I have used the charts while cruising and have worked aboard the Berinci Mevki helping to survey many of the anchorages, rocks and currents in the gulf. I can attest to the devotion to accuracy and completeness with which Gerry has worked over the years to supply first class information about a complex subject. After 40 years of charting Gerry is still at it while all the rest have retired from the struggle. The best charts continue to improve.

It's just the book I am looking for

This is an accessible, sophisticated, and multi-faceted introduction to the law and economics of corporate finance. The book subtly and persuasively connects themes of corporate finance to themes of greater social policy.

I first read "Creating Technical Manuals: A Step-By-Step Approach to Writing User-Friendly Instructions" by Gerald Cohen and Donald Cunningham back in 1990. Written in the 60's when computers were almost reliable most of the time, this book is still the best on technical writing. These gentlemen explain how to develop a succinct natural vocabulary for emerging technologies, to boldly describe what is being invented.

They don't attempt to make up for what the government schools left out. The writer is expected to be able to use the language to communicate. That understood, thses gentlemen explain how to develop concepts where there aren't any to explain what has never been explained before and they do it in about 100 pages or so. (...)
As Cohen and Sutherland explain, technical writing is nothing more nor less than effective communication, as in writing the directions on the heel if you want people to pour water out of their boots. (...)If you know how to use the language, Cohen and Cunningham are all the instruction you will ever need to complete those technical writing projects.
