The Return of the Goddess: A Divine Comedy

Great Fiction for Goddess Lovers
A wonderful novel for both people who want an introduction to the Goddess as well as those who already are faithful believers. I agree with the other reviewers who say this book is meant to be reread and reread. As a true believer, I would send this to my circle friends, but I would also feel comfortable and sharing it with friends who don't know about female centered religions.

This is my all-time favorite book.
THE RETURN OF THE GODDESS is my all-time favorite book. Author Robert Kelly called it a "celebration of how four remarkable people grow into godhood, the journal all love tries to make". I grew to love these four unforgetable characters. The story is also called "a divine comedy", and I laughed my way through it. I celebrated Esther's journey to self discovery and personal growth--and related to it--and most women can. THE RETURN OF THE GODDESS begins on Halloween night, and so I re-read it every October. The imagery--sights, sounds, smells--bring this book to life. Every time I read it, I envision this story made into a movie--it would be wonderful! Thank-you, Elizabeth Cunningham, for bringing these characters and this town to life.

The Goddess is dancing...
I love this book. I've read it so much that the pages are almost all dog eared. I've given copies of it to 6 of my friends and have loaned mine to at least five others. Elizabeth Cunningham is a fantastic storyteller and she leads us on a journey through a woman's spirit, awakening to the power of her self. It is a hard journey, but a worthwhile one, and you'll laugh all the way through until you cry at the end. Beautiful, poetic writing and outrageously funny realism combine to make this a "can't put it down 'til I'm done" kind of book. The Goddess dances across the pages and into your heart as you read it, and the book leaves you with a sense of hope and a feeling that somehow, someway, justice will always be done. Thanks, Elizabeth Cunningham, for the book that always picks me up when I'm in a low place.

The Sculler At Ease
Published in Paperback by Rowers Bookshelves (07 October, 1999)
Authors: Frank Cunningham, Leslie S. Strom, and Laurie Cunningham

His knowledge in rigging and sculling is second to none.
I don't think I've encountered another book relating to rowing that more concisely covered the basics of sweep and sculling, in additional to rigging your boat correctly for your comfort and performance. A first class read!

The Sculler At Ease
Cunningham shows the right way to row. If you are even thinging about being a competive rower you must have this book.

Maybe the best book on sculling ever written..
I have always believed that if you buy a book, and learn at least ONE significant thing from it, you got your money's worth. In this case, you get a whole treasure chest of payback. The coverage of hand positioning alone makes this a must for any library on rowing / sculling. Frank is a well known local Seattle coach and former Olympic coach. I live in Seattle, and everyone knows of him. You simply won;t go wrong if you are trying to learn or improve yourself. Buy it -- you'll like it!

One of my all-time favourite Boxcar Children adventures
Like "Mike's Mystery", this is a mystery with a solid foundation and never once drags.

I first read it when I was about eight and learnt several things I didn't know before. I learned what ammunition meant. It also was my first introduction to any information about the Revolutionary War.

The story takes place primarily on a farm in New England that dates back to the 1700's. Grandfather and Aunt Jane grew up there, and he buys it back for her to live in. But everyone seems to think something is wrong with the house, and the children set out to find out what it is and clear the air of all secrets. And they are pretty sure the woodshed holds an important clue.

Read this book to your children - I am sure they will like it.

the Boxcar Children #7
Would you think that you would find a trap door in the potato pit in your aunt's basement or in the wood shed in her back yard? Well, the Boxcar Children didn't, but they found the trap doors, they had things from the Revolutionary War! They found strange letters about what was going on in the house during the Revolutionary War! Find out what mysterious things they find!

I think this book is so good because you never know what will happen next, like when the children find the trap door in the woodshed and then they find the trap door in the potato pit! The moral of this story is never play with some thing that isn't yours.

The Boxcar Children and The Wood Shed Mystery
I recently read this book and could barely put it down. The Boxcar Car children find another exciting adventure in of all places a wood shed. As the story progresses they find more and more clues and solve the mystery. I would recommend this book to ANYONE who likes adventure, danger, and excitement!

The Abyss
Don't make the same mistake that I did and read this book at night. I have read many, many horror novels and this may be the scariest one ever. Years later, I still get chills when I think about some of the scenes in this book!

The epitome of fear, literally claws at your back!
Few books are as haunting as this one. A chilling foray into the what if genre that never lets go. The slight shallowness of the characters leads the reader to care greatly for them and to feel their pain, their sadness, their terror. If you wish to read one of the darkest portrayals of Armageddon (and perhaps the quickest) I suggest seeking this book out. Hopefully it's out of print status will change.

Another exceelent addition to the literature
Chris Cunningham has been publishing construction articles for years in Sea Kayaker magazine, so it's not surprising that he's decided to write a full length book on the topic. And an excellent book it is, too. There are hundreds of excellent photos and drawings, extensive detailed instructions and plenty of discussion an alternate methods of construciton.

This is certainly one of the best books on the topic of Greenland kayak construciton yet, and an absolute must-own for anyone interested in building their own traditional kayak. This volume, along with Robert Morris' book (Building Skin on Frame Kayaks) and perhaps H. C. Peterson's "Instruction in Kayak Building" would make as complete a library on kayak construciton as one might imagine.

Fairly complicated but good
A usfull book for both the historian and any person wiht an interest in Greenland style kayaking. The photos are very detailed as is the text. Well worth the time and the money.

Kentuckian finds Eddyville history riveting
To be short and sweet.this book is a great read and you can visualize the characters and settings thru skillful character and setting developement by a son of a Eddyville Prison Guard.Highly recommended for all, even if not interested in the American Penal System

A terrific book.
"Castle, The Story of a Kentucky Prison" details the story of the Kentucky State Penitentiary, located at Eddyville, Kentucky. The author, Bill Cunningham is familar with the institution, having defended the inmates who are incarcerated there as a defense attorney, prosecuted them as prosecuting attorney, and ordered them to be commited there as a criminal court judge. The book itself is centered around the riot of 1923, which at the time was one of the most notorious prison uprisings in American history. The author is a terrific storyteller; if the book was a movie, it would be a classic directed by Stanley Kubrick, the way in which the story goes back and forth, side to side, yet stays very much together. This book will appeal to a wide variety of people, not just academics in criminal justice, as books on this subject usually do.

Concord Cunningham The Scripture Sleuth
We took this book to our grandchildren in California, and just put it on the table for them. That night we discovered the 11 year old girl sitting on the bunk bed reading to her 8 year old brother. No pressure from us. They had solved the first 4 mysteries, using both simple deduction and by applying the biblical cues.

A young readers delight
This book introduces readers to a new way of reading a book. The author creates a story but leaves the reader to solve the mystery. The chapters are short enough so younger kids won't get bored with the story, but long enough to keep you wondering how each mystery will be solved. A new and fresh idea for young readers who want to use the Bible as their everyday sword.

Cooking with Kids
My son has always loved to cook and make his own concoctions (pickles, yoghurt and raw red peppers for a snack!). This is a great book to use with kids. Other suggestions are CLUELESS IN THE KITCHEN, great for teens. And for a fun look at Fannnie Farmer, who was so influential in American cooking, try FANNIE IN THE KITCHEN, a charming picture book about a young girl who learns to cook with Fannie Farmer. Delicious illustrations!

Excellent teaching tool, Helping Parents getting started!
As I looked through many children's cookbooks, this is the only one that gives you a curriculum on where to start. Giving you basic recipes Children will need for their entire life. Having 4 Children of ages between 8-10, we found the recipes very clear, simple to make, and to the taste buds of young people. After one week of classes, the children had developed good habits and had a good understanding of basic cookery.

another winner
This is one book that I will never lend out. I fell in love with it after just reading the first few pages. Scott Cunningham writes with such warmth and sincerity. This book is chock full of information on almost everything you can find in the kitchen, and it even offers you suggestions on the magical uses of each food. As soon as I got it, I copied a bunch of the ideas down into my Book of Shadows. This is one book that you must have.

Cunningham Magic from the Kitchen
The original title of this re-release is "The Magic of Food" from 1990. Llewellyn has put this book back into print.

I love the opening lines "Food is essential to our lives. For many of us, the art of cooking and eating is a chore. For others, it is a great delight. And for some, the culinary arts and their products are indulgences. Food is substituted for love. Food is an excuse. Food is a god."

Scott explores all these aspects of food, as well as its magical properties and how this magic affects us and can be worked into our lives. The first part of the book is a small introduction to the magic of cooking, associations, tools, histories, practicing food magic and even some discussion on vegetarianism.

The meat and potatoes, if you will, of the book are the sections on specific types of foods. The foods are broken down into groups, like bread and grains, fruit, spices and herbs, etc. Common names, specific names, ruling planets, ruling elements, energies, lore and magical uses are explored, explained and looked at in its uses in magic and healthy living.

Mini-discussion on uses of salt in foods, substitutes for additives that do not promote overall good health, the healing qualities of foods, little known facts on food usages and food preparation make each of the topics covered interesting as well as useful.

"Nuts & Alleged Nuts . It is curious that one contemporary slang term for insanity is "nuts," as in, "That politician's gone nuts." In the past, these crunchy foods were thought to bestow wisdom, not mental derangement.*"

Footnote "*Then again, wisdom and insanity are often subjectively determined."

Scott's wit and humor are prevalent throughout the book as well as generous helpings of his wisdom and vast knowledge base.

And we are also treated to "Scott's Favorite Recipes". Appetizers, such as magic herb toast, beverages, desserts, main dishes. all here for you to consider and concoct in your own kitchen. Even magical soups and romantic salads are here for you to consider.

The book has a good table of contents, indexed, and contains a good glossary, tables of correspondences and bibliography. There is a mail order resource list which appears to be current, where you can get those hard to find ingredients.

Overall, a good book for your library, a better book for your kitchen and an essential book to have in your Cunningham library.
