The Transcriptionist's Right Hand
This is a wonderful drug manual for transcriptionists and is an excellent book to supplement a more in-depth drug reference.

The Instant Drug Index, as the name says, allows you to instantly look up the spelling of a drug name by searching the alphabetical listing. The drug name and type of drug are conveniently listed for you.

It allows you to find a drug name quickly, being able to scan the list and then resume working.

Dosage information and conditions are not listed in this book. It is meant to be a quick-reference tool and is a great supplement to a larger drug book.

Great resource for the medical professional!
This book is a great resource for transcribers and other medical professionals. We use it at our worksite everyday. We especially like the format of black and colored type. It is done in a very user friendly format.

Instant Drug Index, 2000
This is a book any medical transcriptionist can do with. All the current drugs are in it. They are well organized, and it is easy to find drugs in it. It will be one book I will never part with.

Introductory Russian Grammar

Still the Best Introductory Russian Textbook Available
This textbook by Stilman and Harkins is definitely my key resource for learning the Russian language. I have learned far more from this book than I did from the two conversationalist based texts that I used when studying Russian for two years at college. I'm convinced that any native speaker of English needs to learn Russian with a rigorous approach to learning the grammar, because the case differentiation is so crucial and difficult to master. This book is a first year Russian textbook, so it will be good for the introductory student as well as for someone who has some familiarity with the language. The lessons are clearly and logically presented with excellent explanations of Russian grammar, clear and concise declension charts, and extremely useful pattern sentences (in Russian and in English translation) that illustrate the principal grammatical objectives that are emphasized in each chapter. This allows the student to be cognizant of grammar while also developing an internal sensibility to the natural syntax and rhythm of the language. This textbook teaches you not only useful phrases, but also explains why, grammatically, they have to be in a particular form. This is essential for really learning the language. Stilman and Harkins also infuse the chapters with useful vocabulary words that can be learned quickly due to their organized approach to the lesson plans.

Even though this book needs to be revised and updated (this edition, even though it is still in print, is the edition originally published in 1972), this is by far the best textbook for learning the Russian language that exists. I hope instructors begin using this user-friendly text again, because it is ideal for classroom use as well as for students' independent studies. This book is so well planned that students can easily read ahead of their classroom lesson plans and not feel lost, because Stilman and Harkins teach the readers everything they will need to know in order to read and write correctly in Russian.

Intr Russian Grammer 2nd edition Stilman
I find the Stilman book to be the finest college level treatise on the subject. It provides a detailed analysis of the language, the liguistics and rules which are all complex. Stilman et.al. presents the material in an orderly easy to understand but yet leaves out none of the complexities of the language. I recommend this text to all serious students of the russian language. I do not believe you will find a better explanation of the language.

Best Russian Grammar Book
Stillman et al have produced an excellent course book for studying Russian. I have used other books, the best of which emphasizes conversation and is geared toward the college and university classroom ("Russian Stage One"). Russian is a difficult language, especially for English speakers. It is not readily accessible like Spanish or French. The vocabulary is difficult and the declensions of nouns, adjectives, and pronouns make it as difficult as Latin or Greek. For this reason it is refreshing to find a text which attempts to teach the grammar first. This book is complete and comprehensible to anyone studying Russian, particularly if he or she knows English grammar well, or has already studied an inflected language. Other books might be better for those who are learning Russian as their first foreign language.

Short Term Traveller
This is truly the best thing you could take with you when travelling to Italy for a short vacation or business trip. I can't say enough good things about this little language guide. It is set up in a three fold menu style and laminated. It has a ton of great stuff for the traveller like food, social conversation, numbers, pronunciation, and even how to conjugate verbs which can be difficult, but made easy in this guide. Everything is explained very clearly. It is a lot easier to carry than any book because it just slides easily into any bag or purse. I like this guide a lot and I hope Kershul publishes an additional one like a volume two.

A real travel treasure for Italy
I really enjoyed having this with us on vacation! It was convenient enough to carry around without bulk and simple enough to pull out for quick research. All the basics are here especially for your beginning trips to Italy. It is also a wonderful gift for repeat Italian travelers.

Just what I was looking for.
The "language map" approach seems to me a perfect alternative to those little phrase books and dictionaries with tight bindings and too many pages that can be hard to use in actual conversation. Most the primary traveling vocabulary you'll need plus some basic phrases. The laminated fold-out "map" format is very convenient and it won't be ruined by rain or spilled cappucino. Probably not the only language aide you'll need (I also purchased "Italian in 10 Minutes a Day," which is also by Kershul), but a very good reference and reminder to carry around while traveling.

So Far My Favorite Phrase Book...
...if you are going to Turkey, and you're only going to get one book about the language, this is the one I'd recommend.

My oldest son is marrying a Turkish girl in Istanbul, and while we're all going to join them there for the wedding, I'm trying to learn enough of the language to be able to talk a little, and understand a bit. My second son just wants to get by, my third son is somewhere in between. We are all using this book!

For me, it has been a starter book (though In Flight Turkish was my first and best, since it had a CD to help me comprehend the spoken word). For my two younger sons, it has been a way to learn the essentials for it seems if you are going to another country, you should be able to say some basic things in the language of the country. Each of them has their own, to stick in a pocket or backpack and carry around, stateside and in Turkey.

This book is small (maybe 1/2 inch thick, 6" x 4" in size (or so) and structured in a way even a (brilliant) ten year old finds easy.

A great beginner's book, a getting by book, a getting around book.

A must-have book for any beginner!
I have this book, and it's the best purchase I ever made! It's very simple and direct in its format, and has a really excellent explanation of how to pronounce the words and letters. In fact, of all the Turkish language books I've tried out, this one explains the pronounciation the best.
It focuses on only what is needed to know, if you plan to visit Turkey. If you need a book that will get you started, but don't want something that makes the language more in-depth than you need for your preliminary study -- this is the book to have! Plus, it's really small, so you'll be able to carry it with you in your purse or backpack or briefcase with ease.

Perfect "Emergency" Phrase Book
My husband (who is Turkish) and I agree that this is the perfect little phrase book to use when I get stuck trying to remember just the right question. With this little book I will be able to ride the bus, go to market, and do other everyday tasks when we move to Turkey in a few monthes without having to carry around several dictionaries all the time. Not only does it have a very easy to use layout and many vocabulary words, but it also has many questions and (most importantly!) several common answers. A really great book for anyone traveling to Turkey!

Ky history buffs
Very informative book. Well organized.

Complete!
Being a huge fan of dictionaries and encyclopedias; I simply had to examine The Kentucky Encyclopedia by John E. Kleber(Editor), et al. Whilst, I am not a resident of the state of Kentucky ( I live in Atlanta, GA), I have a neverending thirst for knowledge and therefore I thought that it would be pertient for a person of my taste to read and furthermore examine the mentioned item. It starts out with a beatifully detailed map of the state with all the counties; it follows up with a list of all the people whom contributed to this grand project which was printed by the venerable University Press OF Kentucky. The editorial staff section is also a nice touch and shows how much work that is required to produce on of these encyclopedias. The table of contents is also well developed with the following sections: Foreward, Preface, Kentucky: A Historical Overview by Thomas D. Clark, The guide for readers, The kentucky Encyclopedia, Biblographic essay and finally the index. The The first three sections, i.e., the Foreward, the Preface, and the longer article, Kentucky: A Historical Overview by Thomas D. Clark, are all written in a scholarly tone without being stuffy or pretentious. Especially the Clarke article is fascinating in its coverage of the founding of the State of Kentucky. The guide to readers is also helpful for people that are not accustoimed to using encyclopedias. The entries themselves are well written and the font chosen does not detract from the information. For instance if one wants to know whom Charles P. Farnsley was then one should rread p.309 and realize that amongst many things he was the major of Luisville 1948-1953 and that he received his bar in 1930. The index is also a blessing in its ease of use and makes the searching experience very enjoyable. Overall, this is the encyclopedia to get if one is remotely interested in the state of Kentucky and I would definetely recommend it.

Spectacular Reading!
If you buy only one book about Kentucky, this is the book to buy. Every aspect of Kentucky history is covered in detail. This is a compilation of articles submitted by over 500 people on various topics ranging from prehistoric Kentucky to modern times. Each one is a facinating description of Kentucky history that reads like a short story. I never tire of reading this book! Is is a must read for anyone who has ever been to or lived in Kentucky.

La Celestina
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill Humanities/Social Sciences/Languages (07 October, 1999)
Authors: Fernando De Rojas, Gerardo Gonzalo, and Fernando de Rojas

A forgotten and ignored classic
Celestina is amusing, ironic, and while the prose and dialogue is long and descriptive, it is never boring- I really enjoyed this play.

It captures the essance of good and evil in love.
Fernando De Rojas captures the truth of the love between man and woman in a time when novels were rarely written. This book plays out of a drama that inhabits the first concepts of the tragedy of love. It is what books like Romeo and Juliet are compared to.

La vida es sueno

A story of destiny, hate, love, and war.
This book is one of the most comprehensive works of Spanish literature. It forces you to think about honor, loyalty, love, and dreams. Perception is reality in this world created by Calderon de la Barca. This is a timeless creation.

Fascinating tale of humanity and cruelty, dreams and reality
This play by Pedro Calderon is one of the treasures of Spanish literature. From the golden age of hispanic civilisation comes this tale of a country in turmoil, the mistreated prince at the heart of it all, and a mysterious woman who brings order out of chaos.

El mejor
Este libro es bien confuso al principio pero despues que empiezas a leer te das cuenta de que es muy interesante, asi que lean este libro de Pedro Calderon, que sin duda alguna no lo van a poder soltar. La vida es sueno es un libro que te lleva a realizar que es verdad que la vida sin lugar a duda es y sera simplemente un sueno del que no puedes escapar, con cosas buenas y cosas malas tambien. LA VIDA ES SUENO, te va a facinar!!!!

Easy to use & Comprehend
Small enough to take with you to the store, yet full of info which is understandable. I keep it in my spice cabinet. One of the greatest books I've picked up.

Great little book!
I wanted a simple reference guide to take with me when I go shopping. I'm not, by any means, a fanatic about this stuff, but I want to be careful about what I feed my family. This book did the trick. It's tiny and fits in my purse and gives a brief description of the entries and a graphic symbol that make my decision quick and easy. If I have more questions about an item, there are plenty of great books out there with more in-depth answers. I use it all the time.

A great find! Recommend it to all serious dieters
This dictionary should be an essential part of every food allergic individual's home library. Simple, concise, and complete definitions assist in the indentifaction of possible hidden allergic ingredients. A great companion to take the supermarket for verifying source of unknown ingredients.

Best Turkish dictionary
This the best Tukish/English dictionary you can find. I was in Turkey for four months and I taught myself Turkish only by using this dictionary. I must add that I already knew Arabic, Persian and French and that helped a great deal since there are a lot of Arabic and Persian words in Turkish vocabulary. Nonetheless, this dictionary is very easy to use and gives you all the info you need about a word.

Excellend
This book is very convenient for turkish immigrant, for make eazy concentration.

Excelent Refernce
My wife from Turkey owns this book, she has been able to look up many things to be able to communicate easier with me and others, this is an excellent tool for Turkish folks when they visit or move to an English speaking country

Useful and Convenient
I bought this book for my Vietnamese class and it is excellent. The definitions are clear, and provide a wide range of options for translation. This is good, because languages aren't just word codes, and all these options help to give the true meaning of a word. In the Vietnamese-English part, the entries are extensive and offer cultural and grammatical insights.

Also, I was baffled on how to pronounce a final 'nh' and this dictionary helped me to do it correctly and easily.

It is easy to carry around, durable, and flexible. It was very helpful to me during my studies; I highly recommend it.

Very Good Vietnamese Dictionary
The definitions are great. It's compact. Nice Binding. I like it.

Excellent! Well worth the money.
I have been looking for a good Vietnamese dictionary for a long time, and have finally found it in Langenscheidt's Vietnamese dictionary. This dictionary has the benefit of both northern and southern pronunciation, which is rare due to the fact that most textbooks and dictionaries only give the northern pronunciation. If you are studying Vietnamese, do yourself a favor and buy this book.
