This book is a valuable asset to anyone who owns one of thes
This book is a valuable asset to anyone who owns one of these cars becouse of the info on the 6 cylinder engines. Info on 8 cylinder mopars is easy to find, but this book gives you all the specs and info on the 225s. My only complaint about this book is that it does not go in depth on the little 1 barrel Holley and Carter carburator in these cars, but Haynes also has a book covering the complete rebuild of the Holleys that is also aplicable to the Carters. This book stays beside my tool box when I am working on my Valiant.

Good but too specific
This book is very valuable for who own or make repairs on those cars, but regarding engines it just mentions the 6-cyl units, forgetting the small0block and the big-block Darts. Onm the rest the book is good.

A Great Read for a First-Year Teacher
This book involves twenty-five short stories about the first year of teaching. The stories range from emotional, to triumph, to sad. There was a great deal of positives highlighted while the realism of teaching was not lost. Most of the teachers seemed to be English teachers as would prompt the writing of stories. One particularly meaningful short story was about a teacher that found hardships not within his classroom, but among his fellow colleagues, towards him. One teacher hit home with a remark on feeling resentful of the students because he was working so hard, and they didn't appreciate how hard he was working. He finally learned to give more responsibility and freedom to his students to provide a happy environment for all. A great read for me, as a first year teacher.

Informative, but Tedious
I read this because I really enjoyed Dodge's military biography of Hannibal, but this book, possibly due to the period covered, was episodic, and without knowledge of European political history during the reign of Louis XIV, hard to follow. The first section, covering Adolfus's campaign in the Thirty Year's War, was quite entertaining, mainly because his efforts were dramatic, innovative, and successful against overwhelming odds. However, once into the military exploits of Conde, Turenne, Cromwell, Eugene, and Marlborough, the narrative becomes rather monotonous, describing one siege after another, one uneventful campaigning season after another. (This, too, no doubt reflects the time: the whole period of the post-Adolfus Thirty Year's War and the War of the Spanish Succession was one vast war of attrition.) Dodge does describe the important battles quite well, and offers incisive assessments of the character and abilities of the period's leading military figures. The book is long (about 850 pages), and long on military facts and figures. Dodge, a veteran of the American Civil War, writes in a rather formal and technical style, adding to the difficulties in wading through the text. I would give the book an "A" for information, but a "C-" for readability. If the subject matter really interests you, I'd say give it a try. If not, pass.

An Indispensible Classic!
When I first took this book out of the Amazon.com box, my first thought was, "What have I gotten myself into?" It was a massive tome, covering a century of European warfare in considerable detail. Not only was it huge in size and scope, but I was worried about the prose, given the age of the text.

Fifty pages into the book, I could not put it down. This is quite simply an extraordinary military classic. T.A. Dodge is an exceptional military historian. Unlike many of those who ply that trade, Dodge was a veteran officer and possessed of exceptional military judgement. This is no chairborne commando, but an insightful and experienced soldier whose wealth of practical military experience brings the reality of 17th Century warfare alive.

Any understanding of military history from 1618-1815 (yes, that's 1815, even though the book stops in 1712) will be deficient without this book. Dodge tells the critical story of how armies evolved from relatively disorganized and short-term field armies to vast, professional military establishments controlled by the monarchs of Europe. The evolution of the modern state cannot be fully understood if one does not appreciate this facet of the military revolution of the 1600s. Dodge is equally adept at bringing the battlefield tactics of the time to life, and illustrating their development. He skillfully guides the reader along the path of military evolution which ultimately sets the stage for Frederick the Great and Napoleon Bonaparte.

The caveats of this book are that it is long on text and short on maps. The lack of maps makes following the course of marches and counter-marches somewhat difficult. Furthermore, a basic knowledge of the geopolitics of the time is helpful.

For anyone with the fortitude, this book will bestow upon them a deeper understanding of a seminal period in European history.

review of the repair manual for 1997-1999 dakotas
The book was perfect for me. It explains mainly how to serveice your vehicle, and that was what I was looking for. If you are wanting to get into details of the 97-99 Dodge Dakotas, you may want to get the Chrysler book instead

Great manual
Don't go to the shop without this manual.

Great for the novice!
This book is great for the first time rebuilder. It's filledwith detailed pictures and factory specifications. Doesn't get intohow to tune the engine or modify it. If you are not a novice I recommend something different.

Definiatly a good book for the back yard mechanic. Tons of information to get the novice thru his first rebuild. Buy the book and save yourself the headaches. worth the price hands down.

Has some wonderful ideas
This book is chock full of great ideas and includes some more modern furniture..something that many miniature books are lacking. The directions are a bit difficult to follow and have to be read very carefully. Measurements are sometimes not correctly stated. If your unsure..make a paper pattern first. Final results will be much better.

Everything you need to know to decorate your dollhouse!
Among "How-To" books, this is a standout. Includes specifics on how to build everything from victorian parlor furniture to a palm-shaded island porch. Instructions are clear, patterns are already in 12-inch scale. Beautifully illustrated. A must for any miniaturist!

new methods for doing robust regression
In introductory statistics courses students are taught linear regression. Basic linear regression in an elementary course is simply least squares estimation of the regression line. Least squares has optimal properties when the conditional distribution of the variable of interest has a normal distribution, conditional on the predictor variables. However, when the distribution is non-normal, the least squares estimates can sometimes have very undesirable properties. It is well-known that least squares estimates are very sensitive to individual outliers and leverage points. Consequently any regression analysis requires diagnostic checking of the model using various diagnostic statistics. Although students are often taught about the diagnostics used to check the modeling assumptions, most introductory texts do not go into the modeling alternatives to least squares. There are now many alternatives in the literature that are robust to departures from the normal distribution and/or multicollinearity. These include least absolute deviations, ridge regression, M, L,S and GM regression. The authors review least squares and these other methods in Chapter 2. The next four chapters of the book discusses four new alternative methods that the author's refer to as adaptive methods. These methods involve combining two of the estimation procedures discussed in Chapter two. The various methods involve taking convex combinations of two of these estimates. Adaptive methods allow the weights in these convex combinations to be determined from the data. Chapters 3 - 6 deal with adaptive weights for various pairs of estimates. Chapter 7 deals with adaptive trimmed estimates. Chapter 8 covers adaptive ways for combining hypothesis testing methods. Chapter 9 deals with computational aspects and software devised for these methods. Chapter 10 provides some asymptotic properties of estimators discussed in earlier chapters particularly the studentized M-estimators of Chapter 2. The authors provide many concrete examples and compare the various methods.

This is a nice little monograph for anyone interested in regression analysis methods that are practical and advance the theory of regression. This should interest both the applied statistician and the statistical researcher.

GREAT.... I am looking to buy and remodel a house into a duplex. BINGO. Hit the mark. Covered all the major topics, some very obvious and some not so. Will keep the book handy for review as a remodel. I was surprised that there were so many form examples. This could be a definite help to anyone doing this.

Worthy supplement to Bigelow, Furgurson and Sears
My greatgrandfather lost his leg the morning after "Stonewall" Jackson was mortally wounded at Chancellorsville and within a few hundred yards of the site. Therefore, over the years, I have read everything I could find on the battle, including Bigelow's classic account and the more recent accounts by Furgurson and Sears. Theodore A. Dodge (1842-1909) describes what it was like to be surprised and routed by Jackson's troops at the end of the historic "Flank March" and how his Eleventh Corps of the Union Army participated in the fierce and costly fight. Although it was first published in 1881, we can thank Da Capo for reprinting Dodge's book with an Introduction by Stephen Sears. The correspondence between Hooker, Lee and Lincoln that is printed at the end of the book furnishes insight into the aftermath of a horrendous battle. Recommended.
