Chiltons repair manual
This book is not half bad when it comes to car repair for my dodge colt. It goes into detail on how to fix many problems you could run into with your car. It has plenty of pictures to help you with what you are doing. If you have to do some work on your vehicle, I suggest you get a chiltons manual.

labor rates
I've used a lot of manuals over the past 35 years. to be totally ownest all i wanted to do is look up a few spec's before i got to the shop to save a little time, and now i'm commentting on a book that i have yet to read. Typing from experiance. Motors, Mitchel, and chilton are all about dead even with there information. But i think that as far as the labor guide goes chilton is the prefrence for me personaly. But there is room for improvement. This is my guesstament. they get there times from cars that are clean and not driven by a varitey of people. So there is not other related problems that come with the abuse and neglect that the average moreone puts them through. Howed i do ? thank you and have a nice and safe drive. Kerry Stafford ASE. Dodge, Plymouth, Town and Country 1984-95
This is a thumb's up for a woman. Clear, comprehensive, like an owner's manual on mini-vans. Recommend for the "auto un-educated"

A nice source for model kit builders and restores alike
Even though it is not a golden standard for books (it does not show color pictures or hard covers, but instead simple paperback pages and b&W photos), it might by termed an excellent reference for all who are involved in major car restoration or model building projects, since it presents reprinted articles of contemporary magazines, with road impressions, specifications and performance figures fully illustraded. It is a good history reading for all who are not in the hobby, nevertheless, as it show us typical thinking in the mid 60's.

A great book in the automotive world
A great book on the history of one of America's most legendary carmakers. It has just enough history on John and Horace Dodge and their early beginings. It also goes into good detail about the later years after the company was acquired by Walter Chrysler. This is a must read for the avid automotive buff, especially for Dodge, Chrysler and Mopar fans.

Dodge/Plymouth Performance (Former Title: How to Build the Ultimate Super Street Mopar)

Great Book, too bad it is no longer in print
This is an excellent resource for those few of us that are interested in making Mopars handle as well as modern cars. Much of what is in the book is a little outdated, but there is still a lot of information that is not available anywhere else. I wish SA would publish an updated version (yes, I know there is Chrysler Performance Upgrades, but it does not have the hardcore info in Mike Martin's book). There is no other RWD Mopar book that even mentions autocross, for example. Buy it if you see it!

Excellent day-hiker's guide to Sonoran desert plants
This Sonoran desert guide to common plants is published by the Southwest Parks and Monuments Assoc. It is an excellent guide to keep in your day pack as you hike southwestern deserts. Black and white illustrations are well done and are a great help in identification. Plants are organized by color of flower blossoms which makes it easier for the everyday hiker who is not familiar with botanical taxonomy. The book includes commons species of cacti, desert trees, shrubs, annuals, and perennials. I particularly enjoy the inclusion of details about medicinal and/or edible uses of the plants by native Americans of the area. My appreciation of our desert plants is greatly enhanced when I understand how the plants have been used -- and can still be used today. I am a 30-year veteran educator, and use information from this book regulary when on nature hikes with students of all ages. The book has only 4 pages of color photos of plants. I would rate the book as 5-star if it had more color-photo pages. Other desert plant I.D. books have more color pages, but are also much more expensive.

The Hacking of America: Who's Doing It, Why, and How
Published in Hardcover by Quorum Books (November, 2002)
Authors: Bernadette H. Schell and John L. Dodge
Amazon base price: $39.95

Interesting
Actually a paper or thesis, it gives some good insight into the truths around hackers, crackers, and the "scene" around them. The survey they undertook at H2K and DEFCON 8 gave great insight and disproved the common myths and perceptions of the hacker/cracker culture.

A chapter written by Carolyn Meinel, insight and background to some of the more public "hacker" cases and how the scene has developed, give this a good read for anyone in Information & network security or IT for that matter. What is the beginnings of 2600? Detailing the White, Black, and Grey hats or the scene and culture, this is a definite read.
