Entertaining
Mr. Mitchum's book is entertaining, hence the title. It's hard to get into the plot but it is a book yuo read if not just to find out the ending. I would suggest this to older readers. Not because of words or suggestion but because they probably are more able to understand.

A good piece of Charger history
This is a "must" in a muscle car fan library, especially of those who like the Chargers. This book reviews the history: the designing process, the changes, and the final result, not to mention the technical data, lots and lots of great pics, we can also read about brilliant drivers who maaried with this car, such as the great Richard Petty. Anyway i reccomend this book to anybody who likes muscle cars.

Tally Ho! Buy It!
Greed leads to life and death conflicts in the Irish countryside. There are lots of great characters in this novel - good guys tainted with the gift of blarney, bad guys you love to hate and manipulative women who know how to get what they want. Crissman has a knack for letting us glimpse inside the head of his characters while maintaining a sporting pace. And for equine enthusiasts, there are lots of horses and riding scenes set in a historic hunting lodge. The more I read, the more I liked. Tally Ho! I give it 4 stars.

Utopian Vistas
Mabel Dodge Luhan was a hostess and visionary. She made her home in Taos, New Mexico a quiet haven for artists. Several painters, photographers, and writers vistited Mabel's home to reflect, rest, and work. This book is a combination of stories about the house and the visitors who stayed there. It contains many interesting stories about the events that occured with Mabel's home, and the people who were touched by it.

Adventuure for the desk bound
Dodge speaks well of the sea and the solitude it can create as he circumnavigates the oceans. His log maintains an even keel inspite of the turmoil at sea. For the uninitiated, American Promise is a strange setting for soul searching and learning to love. Well done Dodge.

Adolescence

An Excellent Review of Relevant Research and Theories
This is an excellent text for adolescent development. It is an easy read for undergraduate students and it provides summaries of a variety of current research projects. I have used Steinberg's text for two years to teach a course in adolescent development and I have yet to find a better undergraduate text on adolescence.

Excellent resource
Steinberg is an incredible writer and a top researcher. This textbook is the best of its type.

Sets the standard
This textbook by Steinberg sets the standard for texts in the psychology of adolescence. Steinberg has distinguished himself not only as one of the major researchers in the area of adolescent development, but as a writer who can translate scientific jargon into language that is accessible. This text is well-written, well-organized, and contains most of the important research on adolescence.

Hans Brinker

Do not buy this book...
...if you have any affection for the original book or any respect for your child's intelligence. It is an offensively dumbed-down version of the classic. The soul and substance of this book have been surgically removed, the language simplified to second grade level, and the real-life messages and values so memorably presented by the original simply DELETED. The illustrations are of stiffly drawn, misproportioned coloring book figures. It is well worth waiting a couple years until your child is ready to read and enjoy and learn from the original version.

This is a SIMPLIFIED VERSION and not the original.
Be aware that this is a SIMPLIFIED VERSION and not the original text. The original (which ...(this website) also sells) is much richer & more interesting; Ms. Dodge wrote it for the grade-school kids of the 1860s; my sibs & I enjoyed it as grade school kids in the 1950s; in my opinion, it is accessable to the grade-school kids of today. I'd give the original 5 stars.

ADVICE NEEDED!
I discovered a copy of Hans Brinker while cleaning up after my grandfather's death. He was an avid reader! My problem is, that I, too, have no idea when, where, or what value this book may be? My copy is rather aqua with a little dutch boy on the front carry two buckets over his shoulders. In the background is a dutch girl (ice skating) and a windmill. Inside the paperback cover is printed, "Giant Junior Classics: HANS BRINKER" Mary Mapes Dodge, Books Inc. New York Many thanks for your help! pmuri@yahoo.com

It's mainstream economics myths and legends
I didn't buy the book. I looked at some parts to verify a critique by others I read. I found this quote:

"So while saving may pave the road to riches for an individual, if the nation as a whole decides to save more, the result may be poverty for all!"

This thinking is flawed. After all, true savings means that we have put aside something we created (instead of consuming it) that someone can now use to sustain themselves while they create new products and jobs for those who were laid off from unprofitable businesses. Without these savings, we would not be able to survive to produce more. And if we don't, ourselves, produce more than we consume, then where will all the new businesses get their resources to run their new business (before it starts to produce anything).

As usual, these writers of mainstream economics don't seem able to follow through with a chain of events. It's as though when someone saves a dollar's worth of some product, it is always burried and lost to human kind. These authors would have us continue to consume everything around us without any regard for new production. Somehow this would result in less proverty.

Unless you are forced to buy this book for a course in Economics, you would be better off looking elsewhere. Better yet, find a better course in economics, unless you are only interested in working for some organization that feeds itself by spreading false economic theory.

Quintessential good introduction
I used this book as my first introduction to economics, and even many years after having read it I continue to use it as a source of reference to the most simple concepts of economics. It has the very best simple explanations of economic principles that I have ever seen. It is filled with interesting stories that bring these principles to the real world, showing a novice the potential power of these ideas. This is Economics 101 at its best.

full of the economic wisdom
I am teaching economics and have read the textbooks written by Stiglitz, Mankiw, Samuelson etc.,but I think this is the best.It not only explains the elements of economics in plain words, but also convey lots of incisive insights which we should keep in mind when we tackle economic problems. I found Baumol and Blinder very instructive as well as interesting.

Not what I expected
While this book provides helpful ideas about projects, I expected and wanted a book that gave hints on preparing your house for sale without spending money. All ideas are in the $100 and up range and are actual construction or other projects. What I was looking for were hints such as: "To make your closet look bigger, do ____, ____ and ____" or "to make your house warm and inviting, light some candles and "brew" cinnamon on the stove when you are showing it"

Recommended reading for clients of ThisHouseForSale.com.
This book points out easily overlooked enhancements and improvements that can be made by a seller or buyer looking for a fixer upper or sweat equity project. Very cost effective ideas. Easy to understand. Kathy G. at ThisHouse

Provides easy and affordable ideas to fix up your house.
The book provided many easy and affordable projects to increase the value of our house and sell our house quickly. My wife and I did most of the projects ourselves, or with a little help from friends. Even the more difficult and expensive projects can be done more easily and economically if you shop around for bargains and have handy family and friends who can help. Based on input from several real estate agents who have inspected our home, the $2,000 we put into cleaning, fixing, painting, and sprucing up our house will increase our selling price by $8,000 to $10,000, and will enable us to sell our house quickly, because it compares very favorably to other houses on the market. This little book more than pays for itself!!!

Haynes Dodge Plymouth Chrysler Mini-Vans 1984-1995 : Caravan, Voyager, and Town and Country Automotive Repair Manual

Based on a complete teardown and rebuild...
Haynes manuals are far superior to anything else on the market for all around basic do-it-youself information. They are not perfect. Information on the majority of systems is more than adequate for basic home repairs, but while basic wiring diagrams are included, they do lack detail in the area of electronics. In contrast, Chilton manuals often include no chassis electrical or electronic information whatsoever and factory service manuals are very, very dry and can be hard for non-pro's to read.

It should be said, however, that these books are not for the neophyte car owner who has never done any repair work before. If you're an absolute beginner, buy the book AND find someone with good skills to shepherd you until you get the basics. This will save a lot of heartache in the long run.

Well illustrated, covers all maintenace tasks, most repair
The manual starts with an introduction to the models covered (All FWD models listed in the title, no AWD), tools required, safety advice and a brief trouble shooting guide. Then covers full strip down of engine, transmission, fuel, exhaust and electrical systems. Too brief chapter on body. The comprehensive diagrams and pictures are the strongest point of the Haynes manuals, and make them better than the far more expensive official workshop manuals as far as the average home mechanic is concerned. I have a V6 3.0 liter version, and can vouch for the manual for this model, the torque wrench settings, clearances etc. are accurate. No experience using it for the other engines. The manual does assume some experience for the major tasks like engine rebuilds, but assumes little or none in describing routine maintenance.

For Owner's Needing Good Info
Save your money on Chilton. They do not hold near the information, clarity and in depth detail, thus VALUE, that Haynes Repair Manuals do.
Having said that, I would like to address some complaints I've come across about both Haynes and Chilton's Manuals.
1.) If your manual suggests at a point to seek professional input it is because MOST NON mechanics don't possess the skill or tools or shop equipment to perform a certain procedure (be it correctly or safely). The publishers' lawyer insisted on the "seek professional input" so as not to take on legal liability for an unqualified person attempting to perform a critical step in their car care. The reason is valid. You can injure yourself and damage your vehicle as well as render your vehicle unsafe to be on the road.
2.) Prior to purchasing a repair manual, LOOK THROUGH IT. Almost every auto parts store in America sells Haynes and / or Chilton's. If the particular manual you need doesn't have the plastic removed, look for a manual that does and look through the sections. CAUTION most auto supply stores will get mad and make you buy anything you rip open. They're trying to sell information contained in the manual, not give it away. Some copies are USUALLY open and can be looked at. Does the manual seem logical, good pictures? Thorough? Then CHANCES ARE that brand will be a good choice for your repair. Also READ the cover front & back thoroughly. It will tell you if special vehicles aren't covered (AWD, Alternate Fuel Vehicles, etc) Know what vehicle you have so you get the RIGHT manual. The correct year, make, model, engine size.
3.) If you do encounter a problem in the middle of a repair, it's possible that it is YOUR not doing something correctly. Not the tool, or the repair manual. Go away from the car, get lunch or a cold glass of lemonade, read through the manual. Even start again in the morning.
4.) As automobiles become more sophisticated, there is truly less and less that a vehicle owner can do him or herself. It is a fact, you will need to take your vehicle into a dealership or well equipped shop for more things. In addition, used oil and other fluids are difficult to dispose of. DO NOT THROW DOWN YOUR DRAIN OR BURY IN YOUR BACKYARD!!!. Tires, batteries all have special disposal needs.
5.) There are some people WHO ARE NOT MECHANICAL. Buy them books, audio / video equipment, ties for Christmas. NOT A WRENCH SET!
6.) Neither Haynes nor Chilton are Professional Shop Manuals (these are available for hundreds of dollars).

As for the particular manual for the Haynes (ISBN: 1563921324 ) Dodge Caravan, Plymouth Voyager
and Chrysler Town & Country from years 1984 through 1995: This manual does NOT COVER All-Wheel Drive nor Alternative Fuel Models AND SAYS SO ON THE COVERS. You can even utilize Amazon "take a look inside" feature to check out if this manual is for you or not. .I checked it's description for changing wiper blades, oil and oil filters, air filters and general repairs and found it both accurate and easy to understand. I've been happy with Haynes manuals over the years and recommend all vehicle owners purchase one even if you don't expect to do any repair or service yourself. It
helps to know the information, to be aware of how your car works and to talk in a reasonably intelligent manner (on your part anyway) when you take your vehicle in for service.

I'm happy with this purchase. And have been with every Haynes manual I've bought and used in the last 20 years.
