IncompleteI am a professional mechanic so I work on my own vehicles, to save some money over buying the repair manuals offered by Dodge I decided to purchase this manual for a rear anti-lock brake problem I'm having. When I found the correct section of the book,I thought that I had it made, the codes were there, pictures of the componets were there, great, I thought. So I began reading the text on obtaining trouble codes to isolate my vehicles problem. It tells you how to get the codes by shorting the diagnostic terminal to ground then read the codes on the ABS light on the dash, cool! Where's the connector? And which terminals at the connector once you find it!!! No pictures or descriptions of where this connector is located what it looks like or how many wires it contains. So thought I'd go to the wiring diagrams and at least find the terminal numbers or wire color codes to the ABS computer maybe that will help, NOT! All the wiring diagram shows is the feed wire from the engine computer to the ABS computer with a block that says "to ABS computer"! Not even a diagram of the ABS system! Not much help!!! And very frustrating!! BUY THE MOPAR BOOK FOR 129.00!! Thats if your going to do anything past oil changes and spark plugs!!

Based on a complete teardown and rebuild (Bah)! The images are vauge and the troubleshooting trees are far from complete. Sure it's better than nothing but don't try to troubleshoot any serious electrical problems with this manual. I tried to troubleshoot a surge between 700 and 900 when stopped at idle. It sounds nasty. I think the knock sensor is the only thing keeping my engine from dieing. I think I narrowed it down to the map/intake air temp sensor (no help from this book though). Sheesh, Haynes used to be a great series of manuals. It looks like they've gone cheap.

Incomplete and repetitiveIn this book are copies of the articles that appeared in Road and Track magazine over the years. For some reason some of them are in black and white, the ones that are color are of average print quality. Way too many articles about pre 1992 production/1992-1995 (like more than half the book). I found the information from article to article to be repetitive. Also the coverage seems spotty. It doesn't appear that all of the years are covered. Hard to tell since a lot of articles don't even mention what year they are talking about. Some good issues mentioned, but overall a lot of fluff. For example I don't need to know the tire size in every article. If you are looking for a complete reference forget it. This is the second lousy Viper book I read, I am going to go to the internet for further information.

Misleading titleThis book is titled for DIY but nearly every chapter seems to start with advising us to consult with and/or hire a professional. I got more information on planning and layout from websites of system manufacturers than from this book. There is a reasonably good summary of different types and it might be OK as a guide if you're planning on hiring a professional anyway but this is not a DIY nuts and bolts kind of guide.

Save your moneyThis book tries to do too much. I needed to change my oil pressure sending unit in my Dakota and there is no reference to an oil pressure sending unit much less a picture of one in this book. A waste of time and money.
I concur with other reviews, vague/minimal information! To place it short and sweet, I also have found this mannual to be lacking in technical information. In the past I found Hanynes' manuals to be very informative, but this one needs a unconditional money back guarantee. It is very vague. It appears to be more of a maintance manual than a repair manual, which is the main reason I bought it!
Dirty page maintenanceI purchased this manual over a year ago and my Brother and I have replaced the carbeurator (87 only), head gasket, replaced radiatior and hoses, set rockers, learned the values of numerous electrical tasks we were stumbling over. The pages we use are referred to by us as dirty page maintenance, sort of a, been-there, done-that, symbolism. We are not mechanics, just broke enough to try the work ourselves. The manual has told, showed, and given hints to prevent oops-events. I give it Four Stars and have no reason not to give it Five.

DisappointedMy hope was to find a book with example problems that reflect the new PE exam format. This book has no end of chapter problems at all. And from what I read there was no difference in the depth and breadth sections. I did a side-by-side comparison of the environmental stuff and it was word for word. As far as I can tell the only thing the depth section (which is on CD) gives you is a bunch of charts you'll never use.
Don' Buy ITThe book is full of errors. It is hard to follow, even harder to reference to during the Exam. There is nearly not enough information to got a decent overview of some of the more difficult material. It was a complete waste of money for me.
I recommend the Lindeburg book.
ErrorsI just bought it. I opened up on page 101 to find the Dr(%) formula (5.10) being wrong. This does not give me a warm feeling. I probably will be further disappointed with this book. I'll tell you more about it later.

Poorly written, lacking contentNice table of contents, but each section was littered with poor writing and repetitive comments about how great radiant heating is. This is obviously just a hidden manufacturer's pitch for radiant heating products.
Learn from the experts!I learned only one thing from this book: never buy a technical how-to book unless the author's experience and qualifications are given. R. Dodge Woodson dodged this point because he doesn't have any. As the author of several diverse titles in the McGraw-Hill "Professional" series, he is, obviously, just a non-technical writer. In this case, he has strung together useless platitudes based on what he understands from manufacturers' literature, which isn't much. He can't give any "real answers," as the book cover claims. Only the appendix of this book is useful. It contains data provided by the manufacturers, and that information can be obtained from them directly, probably at no cost! McGraw-Hill, years ago a premier publisher of informative and authoritative technical and scholarly books, should be ashamed of itself.
What a Joke !I will be returning my copy of Radiant Floor Heating by R. Dodge Woodson! I was primarily interested in "Dry Piping Systems. The chapter focused on dry piping systems in the text was redundant, cursory, and didn't "go" anywhere. The figures did not even remotely reflect what the text said. R. Dodge Woodson should start over from scratch with some SUBSTANCE.

Unhelpful study guideThe contents proved to be unrelated to the exam for the masters license in Georgia. The material lacks depth, seems to be put together hastily, the explanations over simplified.
Very Disappointed! We were very discouraged to find out that none of the material in the book is on any Journeymans test in N.C.! We can not see any use for this book as an aid to taking the Journeymans License Exam! It would be good reading for someone with no life and just likes to read for the sake of reading!
Not a good study guideWe used this book to study for the Texas State Journeyman Plumbers license test and no question in this book was asked on the test. Further, we could not find the answer in this book for any question we remembered from the test. We were greatly disapointed.

Missing key information on Dodge VansThis book was dismal. The information provided is frequently lacking in key points (ie: (paraphrase)"The eight cylinder engine is like the six cylinder engine, so just extrapolate". Furthermore, upon receipt of the Haynes manual covering the same vehicles, it became immediately apparent that the Chiltons manual had left out critical information. The wiring maps are incorrect, and/or missing details - not to mention other issues. A potential buyer would do better to track down the Haynes Dodge & Plymoth Vans manual - or the shop manuals.
