Great Book
This book is an excellent read. It speaks to people between the ages of 13 and 100. It is historically correct and should have been written years ago! It's about time that someone stood up and wrote the truth about who really discovered America. What seperates this book from all others is the hilarity and its way of allowing the reader to truly connect with the character! Trust me, this is NOT a dry, boring read by any stretch of the imagination, but the reader will be to busy laughing their heads off to notice, anyway. ...

Fell in love with it all over again!
I had read the prior publishing of this story (985 - Discovery of America), and this publication of it is much better! I loved the great story line and Mr Cherry's funny, conversational writing style in the older version, and this version is just as well written. The one thing that this publisher *did* do much better is to correct some of the typos that were missed the last time around. A big improvement for picky folks like me!

The book is still wonderful, and if you didn't get a chance to read "985 - the Dicovery of America", I definitely suggest picking up Blood Eagle. It's a refined version of the original brilliant story. As always, it brings history to light in a way that few authors have been able to do, making it exciting, informative, and damn funny. That's a rare mix in historical fiction, and I know I for one wish some history professors would take his cue and make history *fun*, as Cherry shows it clearly can be.

Rumour has it, Mr Cherry has a new book due out this summer, and I know I'll be the first on line to buy it!

Wonderful Bill Slider!
This is a wonderful addition to the Bill Slider/Atherton series. There are enough plot twists in it to keep anyone interested, and Ms. Harrod-Eagles' wit shines throughout the entire book. In this installment a gruesome murder of a music critic occurs in a television station bathroom, and Slider is on the trail of what turns out to be a religious zealot. Even though I had figured out the murderer about 1/2 way through, it did not take away from the story. There were still wonderful characters to meet and a spine-tingling ending to get to. This series is my current favourite and I can't wait to get to the next one.

A fine mystery by a beguiling author
Blood all over the bog!

Opinionated, egotistical music critic Roger Greatrex is found with his throat cut in a restroom at the BBC television studios minutes before he's due to appear on a music discussion panel show. Panelists and production people alike are comfortable with the notion that the poor chap committed suicide.

Detective Inspector Bill Slider, however, begins to doubt the suicide theory when he notices signs that the body has been tampered with. Trouble is, if the man was murdered just about everyone connected with the show had motive and opportunity, and few have alibis.

The author, obviously enjoying every twist in the tale, takes Slider, his crew - along with the reader - up and down the garden path, through the hoops and over the jumps before she allows us to solve the mystery.

Cynthia Harrod-Eagles. What a joy of a writer we have here! She writes a clear good-humored prose with a lively wit and presents us with principal characters, Slider and his love Joanna, and Atherton his sergeant, who share our own foibles and frustrations, aspirations and disappointments.

All five of the Bill Slider mysteries are beautifully plotted and the author always plays fair with her readers. She also understands the value of the narrative hook. DEATH TO GO, for example, opens with a character discovering a severed finger in his take-out fish and chips.

The outrageous puns that Harrod- Eagles sneaks into her stories are real bonuses for this reader. In BLOOD LINES, Joanna refers to Verdi's Requiem as 'The O.K. Chorale'. A mischievous writer, this one. Just take a look at her picture on the dust jacket of one of her books.

Mysteries aside, Cynthia Harrod-Eagles is an award-winning historical novelist with more than 45 books to her credit.

Whatever the genre, this fan suggests you get your hands on a bunch of our author's first editions. You'll not only have rewarding reading but you might also just turn a tidy profit down the line.

A well-Crafted British Procedural
I started three British Procedural series about the same time. Although they are all good, I like Ms. Harrod-Eagles series the best. She is a wonderful writer. Her plots and characterization are tight, and the story usually has many surprises. Bill Slider is a wonderful character. He's sensitive, a bit tentative (especially in his personal life), and a darn good detective. This was an interesting book because the mystery looked quite simple at the beginning, but the further that Bill dug into it, the more sinister it became. It took him all the way up to the top with his suspicions. With the help of his partner, he manages to discover the truth. I highly recommend this series.

Always Excellent
I can never put this author's books down until I've read the whole book (usually in one sitting). She always maintains a nice balance between humor and adversity and tops it all off with a wicked and logical plot. Harrod-Eagle is a wonderful mystery writer and I always look forward to reading her latest book. All of them (so far) have been excellent.

A look back into Ryan's past
this book helped us to learn more about the freindship between Ryan and JB and to find out more about the great Trader. For me, Trader is more of a person now instead of just someone the boys like to quote. it also gave us a chance to meet dean's mother, sharona.

Great stuff
Thanks to Gold Eagles re-release of some of the earlier Deathlands novels, fans who might have some gaps in their collections can now pick up some classic Deathlands without any hassle. Ryan, while laid out with a case of botulism, relives memories of his time with the Trader and the war-wags in his mind. It's a well written glimpse back in Deathlands history that shows up the later, similarly set, 'Encounter' for exactly what it was. Compelling stuff indeed and highly recommended.

Excellent: New Christians & those desirous of deeper walk
The author introduces you to the life of an Eagle from birth until leaving the nest. During the whole process, he defines a Christian's walk with the Lord. The parallelism is fantastic. The book gives the reader the desire to "Mount up on the wings of an Eagle" while he is living for Christ.

An excellent find!
A wonderful little book for anyone at any point in their faith journey. It gets you to look at your faith in a whole new way!! Are you an Eagle?

A powerful and touching book, showing this author's unconditional love for her child. Superbly written. Highly recommended.

"Eagle Doctor" A truly inspirational work of art.
"Eagle Doctor" is a truly wonderful book. I instantly felt the extraordinary love and compassion that the author has for her son. This book pulled at my heartstrings from the very first page, like no other book has been able to accomplish. I was unable to tear myself away from Stephen's incredible stories; making me feel like I was almost a part of his life. A superb book for all ages to enjoy, full of inspiration & the joys of the Miracle of Life.

Eagle Mountian Review by Ronda Shervin
To Whom It May Concern,

Eagle Mountain is a beautifully crafted theological science fiction novel.
In the tradition of C.S. Lewis we get to encounter Jesus and Mary in a new way through delightful symbolic avian figures. The lightness of these characterizations helps us to enter into the grace of their love not only for the hero and heroine of the novel but also for us. Besides presenting universal Christian themes, the author also provides a sensitive insight into the way teenage boy and girl siblings relate on the natural level and then how their feelings are transformed in Christ. I highly recommend Eagle Mountain for teens but also for adults who enjoy fantasy literature.

Not Just Family
For those who will read this book and hopefully those that have proceeded it and those that will follow, I want you to know that Scott is not just my father (in-law) but my strength to carry on after my husband Joe died. Scott, my husband Joe and myself all served in VP-16, the War Eagles. Joe and I during the 80's and early 90's. We have lived through the cold war with much time spent in the air or on a rock, protecting the U.S. and her interests. We have been there and done that. When I finally do get my hands on a finished copy (I have to wait for it just like everyone else), I gobble it up in a day or two. This is a feat in its self, I have five kids 4 to 18. I can here Scott reading the story to me. His speech patterns, and having intimate knowledge of key people and his mannerisms. He brings the story to life and it is so tough to put down. I just wish a forth book was ready - I would probably be half way through it already. The excitement in his books just pours out of him in real life. He is who and what he writes about. That is what makes his books so wonderful and a joy to read. Even his dog Max makes it in the book, all 110 pounds of puppy.

Cold-War Espionage Thriller
Here's a recipe for a Cold War espionage thriller: Take one Naval Aviator (now a retired Admiral), another retired Admiral who specializes in covert operations, add a devout anti-communist atomic scientist and lecturer, and then mix thoroughly with a Russian scientist trying to defect to the West with alarming Soviet secrets.

Cook on medium heat while folding in an assortment of various and sundry shady characters, and a liberal body count, while passing through Scandinavia, Washington DC and Moscow. Then rise to high heat with a Learjet escaping to freedom while chased by Swedish fighter planes.

That's the recipe for "Earthbound Eagle," by Scott Lucas, former Cold War naval anti-submarine warfare flier, and author of two previous cold war international espionage thrillers, "The Not-So-Good Shepherd" and "The Zakopane Dilemma." I liked the previous two novels, but I liked this one even more. The characters are sharply defined, the dialog is realistic, the story's twists and turns are not predictable, the descriptions are vivid without being overly detailed, and the reader is treated to a tour of much of Europe for the price of the book!

Producers note: This could easily be the basis for the next James Bond movie.
