this was a wonderful novel,and if u have any interest in imperial russia you will be very interested in this book.

I adored this book! Emily is the last book in the Kirov saga, after Anna and Fleur, and in my opinion, the best of the trilogy. It takes place in the declining years of Imperial Russia, and the Revolution. If you liked Anna and Fleur, you'll love Emily!

Robert Bowen, who lived in Maryland, in 1943 went down to Florida to have basics (if he finishes he would join the 104 infantry division). As fate had it Bowen and a couple other of his 104th friends would be transferred to Fort Bragg where they would join the 401st regiment of the screaming eagles, the elite 101st. Bowen fights in Normandy where he was injured in the ankle. He also fights in the 72-day campaign in Holland (operation Market Garden) and there he participates in the defense of the Island. Bowen also fights at Bastogne but is captured when a German armored division finally over runs Bowen's and the rest of his surviving friend's position. The rest of his book is about trying to stay alive in the POW camp where he and all of his friends are at the edge of death because of the small and some times no rations, and dysentery. Bowen then explains his life after the War, which as you will see is quite sad.

After I first interviewed Mr. Bowen in 1998 I had tears in eyes. These feelings of sacrifice, loss, suffering, courage, and heroism surface again in this superb book. FIGHTING WITH THE SCREAMING EAGLES takes you back to the foxhole.

I thought that the poems in this book were very inspiring. I loved it and would definitly recomend it too all my friends and family.

The poem, One Drop Of Rain, is a captivating piece of poetry. If you listen to the words and do them, you WILL be BLESSED.

I would highly recommend this book! This book is a great inspiration of hope and faith. With God, all things are possible.

A marvelous book to read. You don't have to start at the beginning. Each page contains wonderful testimony by well-known Americans and some who are not-so-well-known. This is the kind of book that you will not want to stop reading.

The Ghost Witch by Betty Ren Wright is wonderful you can read it anytime or anywhere. Jennys mom's friend died and so Jenny and her mom inherit the lady's house and are going to move in unless they don't want to. Jenny meets the ghost witch and wants to stay in her apartment rather than move, but her mom wants to know why. At Jenny's school they are going to have a Halloween dance and afterward Mr. Barker is going to have a haunted house, so Jenny makes a deal with the ghost witch that she stay there and haunt there rather than stay at Jenny's house. They agree and Mr. Barker earns money from scaring so many people. In the end the witch is too tired to even make one more monster and tells Jenny that she needs to rest so she can make better monsters for next years Halloween. The perfect book for anytime or anywhere!

when jenny makes the deal with the ghost witch is my favorite part. :-)

This book traces the history of the California Gold Rush from 1848 to 1859. It is an exciting tale of fortunes won and lost, of thousands of men and women catching "Gold Fever" --the promise of easy riches. Some of it is quite humorous "...Get our California Gold Grease! Only 10$ a box. Rub on your body, roll down a hill. Gold, and only gold [in italics] will stick to your skin!"

The book also is realistic, telling of the dangers facing people who came over land or by sea around South America to the Isthmus of Panama. Both during the gold rush and after its height a gold-based service economy arose to meet the needs (at highy inflated prices) of the miners.

The book describes how gold was mined, and the properties of gold that make it valuable "A piece of gold the size of a pea can be stretched into a wire that is two miles long. ...Gold is eight times heavier than stones and sand. Gold is sturdy, yet soft." Surprisingly informative and always interesting, with Michael Eagle's portraits and exciting scenes illustrating the already exuberrant text. An excllent book for elementary school readers in grades 2 through 5 (or so), "Gold Fever" makes history fun!

Gold Fever is an outstanding book! I ordered this book to use with American students ages 7-9 learning about the American West. We read the book aloud and discussed its content as we went. The content was perfect for this age group and the illustrations were wonderful. My students were enthralled and begged for more time (we read it over two days). They asked great questions and wanted to learn more. This book has great basic information about gold, the Gold Rush, and its impact on California/the West. Overall--good, solid content and thought-provoking illustrations.

My family had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Moisa and his wife at a YMCA resort in Colorado. His message made such an impression on my family we still read the books all the time 2 1/2 years later. Not many books have that kind of staying power.
The themes fit right into our school"s current emphasis on "Character Counts" and are an invaluable addition to any library.

Education is a top priority in our home and Great Eagle and Small One has made a wonderful addition to our library! My six year old son, Jacob, and my 12 year old daughter, Christine, both enjoyed this book and learned from it. Page 41 sums up one very important lesson taught by this book. It states, "So, my young friends, when you see people who are not perfect in body or mind, remember the story of Great Eagle and Small One. The Creator loves them each in a special way." I highly recommend this book for anyone to get an understanding of one of the most maligned great athletes of all time. While much has happened in Randall Cunningham's career since the book was published in 1993; this book is still a very good read. Randall is by far the most talented quarterback to ever play in the NFL. He's done things in his career that were never done before. For example, he is the only NFL quarterback to LEAD his team in rushing in four consecutive seasons. He is the first NFL qb to rush for 4,000 yards in a career and needs only 78 to be the first to rush for 5,000, though missing half of his career due to injuries, benchings and politics. His touchdown/interception ratio 1.544 is fifth all-time behind only Steve Young 2.168, Joe Montana 1.964, Brett Favre 1.668 and Dan Marino 1.666. He is one of the greatest playmakers in NFL history, regardless of position. He has brought excitement and enjoyment to an increasingly regimented and boring game.

Contrary to "expert" and fan opinion, Randall Cunningham is also a winner. His career winning percentage as an NFL starting quarterback is .612 [Young .657, Favre .649, Marino .612, Elway .632, Kelly .632, Esiason .452, Aikman .569, Moon .505], comparable to great quarterbacks of his and any era. What's even more noteworthy is that during Randall's 11-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles, seven NFC East division teams won Super Bowl championships [NY Giants2, Washington Redskins 2 and Dallas Cowboys three. Had Randall's Eagles been in a far less competitive division in the AFC, who knows how many more wins and Super Bowl appearances Cunningham and his Eagles would have earned. Yet, he's always been maligned and vilified in the media.

Since leaving the Eagles, Cunningham has drifted to the Vikings, Cowboys and Ravens. Yet he has continued to maintain a high level of performance, even though he's had to put up with sitting behind inferior quarterbacks. This book is great for fans of Randall Cunningham. It will even give his detractors another viewpoint of this remarkably gifted athlete.

I found Randall's book to be a captivating, thoroughly enjoyable reading experience. From his early years in Santa Barbara to his career at UNLV, Randall paints a picture of a tough but exciting upbringing. He uses colorful stories combined with retrospective wisdom to illustrate how events in his formative years shaped him as an individual. He also details his misunderstood and often criticized career with the Philadelphia Eagles, as well as his views on fellow team members and other influential figures in his life. Without a doubt, one of the most important aspects of the book is Randall's relationship with God. He talks about the many dimensions of his Faith, and there influence on him both as a player and as a person. It is genuinely refreshing for someone so well-known to acknowledge the value of his beliefs as an instrument in his success. This book is an excellent read not only for football fans, but for anyone who enjoys stories of faith and overcoming the odds.

I am a new-comer to Jesus scholarship and so what I say is not as an expert but merely as an appreciative reader. What I found especially valuable about this brief but excellent study was the interdisciplinary elements that Crossan brought to bear on his subject. In order to help us hear what Jesus is up to, Crossan brings in very useful insights from poets and philosophers. These, along with Crossan's very suggestive readings of Jesus' parables, make this a book one could ponder for quite a while. As with poems, the brevity of this book masks a lot of depth.

John Dominic Crossan stands in my mind as one of the most lucid, honest, and forthright biblical scholar of our day. His many publications testify to his integrity and extensive scholarship. I did not read this book when it was first publishd in 1973, but have had the good fortune of having a good friend, the retired rector of an Episcopal church, donate me this book. Since I have read most of the lastest publications of Crossan, I find in this one the same sound interpretation of the parables of Jesus. This is not only a commentary, but a scholarly introduction to the literary genre that the historical Jesus employed to convey the core of his message, which is so often completely misunderstood. I recommend this book very highly to anyone who shares the new understanding of the historical Jesus, so well explored by the Westar Institute.

I really enjoyed this book. I grew up Roman Catholic, but became very interested in "New Age" spirituality in my 20s (such as auras, chakras, reincarnation, psychic phenomena). At first, I thought that Christianity and my New Age interests were incompatible. This book, however, really highlighted how I could reconcile my love for Jesus and His teachings with my New Age beliefs. White Eagle draws a distinction between Jesus and the "Christ spirit." Chapter one states: "Through Jesus flowed the heavenly light, the Sun, the supreme light of the heavens. In your world you know that light by the name of Christ; and as this light came through the prepared channel, and Son of God, Jesus, you know this great one as Jesus Christ...Christ is that light which has manifested in degree through other teachers." I highly recommend this book.

I had a chance to read portions of this book, and its amazing. Word by word, the reader connects to his inner source, the One source which vibrates throughout everything.
