great book. i liked it a lot because it was very technical and and i'm the kind of guy who likes technical. to sum it up, AWESOME!!!....

This is a fast paced story that keeps you guessing from start to finish. There is plenty of technical information and action to stimulate imagination. I thoroughly enjoyed the read.
We need more of just this sort of book for stoking interest in our middle and high school young people, especially our boys. So many loose interest in reading at this age. We can keep or renew interest in reading good literature with this type and quality story. As a pediatrician I have to constantly prode my young patients and their parents to turn off the television, computer and video game and encourage mind-stretching in reading.

This is one of my favorite personal accounts. Goodson, an America, joined the RAF in 1939 and flew Spitfires with the Eagle Squadron. When America entered the war, he was inducted in to the Army Air Corps and transotioned to P-47s. Later, he switched to P-51s and was shot down near the end of the war. In this book, he vivdly recounts air combat from nearly the entire war and pays homage to his comrades. What I liked best about Goodson's account was his humanity. He never glorifies what he did or boasts, even though he was one of the top American aces of the war. I get the impression that he intended the work simply as a tribute to those who fought.

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I HAVE READ ABOUT WWII AVIATION .THE AUTHOR TELLS HIS PERSONAL STORY BUT IN A BROADER SCENARIO OF THE PEOPLE AROUND HIM AND THEIR PERSONALITIES .IT'S HAS IT'S HUMOROUS ANECDOTES BUT THE TOTAL PERSPECTIVE REFLECTS ON THE PILOTS OF HIS GROUP , THEIR FIGHTER PLANES ,AND THE TRAGEDY OF WAR .

In the preface of this book it is written "In this very action of writing is sometimes contained an essence that is not of the mind, that essence comes from the Spirit and is conveyed to the Spirit of the one who reads the words with an Open Heart." These ancient truths can assist one in creating a relationship with the universe. The sun, the moon, and the stars are alive and they are not separate from us. This book contains a complete understanding of what one needs to know about Truth and Great Spirit. Many of the spiritual teachings out there in my opinion miss the mark where this hits it right on the money. Read and learn the Value of "Balance" according to the teachings of the "Medicine Wheel" and "Directional Technology" and see how even the teachings we have come to trust for many years are one step off. Contained within these teachings are the secrets to a happy marriage, a successful career, a healthy body and mind as well as a true spirituality. This book teaches you how to move from one direction to the next and keep them all in balance. These are not the teachings of Kenneth Meadows they are the teachings of Great Spirit, they are the ancient truths passed on in an oral tradition from the native people who have recieved their guidance in Ceremony communicating with the Ancient Ones. In these short words I cannot possibly decribe to you the depth of value hidden within this book, my hope is that everyone can read this book and see the truth and the widsom that is there for all of us. So trust me if you are seeking truth, you will one day come to see that most all of the teachings you will read about are only sections of the pie and what is taught here is the entire pie. I don't know Kenneth Meadows and may never meet him but I do recognize truth when I see it. Keep up the good work Kenneth our world needs the understanding.

Meadows' clarity and easy-to-understand approach to the search for meaning and purpose guides a novice such as I along a path to self-identity and realization of inner potential and individual responsibility. This book is a must for readers who seek information on self-discovery, the many (often hard-to-understand) aspects of life science, self-fulfillment, and understanding of life's journey. Summary? Great book, hope you enjoy it too!

This was the first Catherine Cookson book I've read. It was also the saddest. It seemed that bad things just kept on happening to her, although the book did have a good ending. It sure took a long time for her to find happiness. Catherine Cookson is my favorite author because her stories are so realistic and almost everyone of her books I've read so far have made me cry.

...in this typical Catherine Cookson page-turner. The orphaned Emma is brought to live with her reluctant grandmother on a country farm. Life is hard. Emma endures very hard work, the abuse of her employers, and suspicion of her Spanish background.

Emma's great beauty and strenth of personality cause some men to love her and some men to hate and want to punish her for seeing through them. Circumstances force her to accept marriage from a decent enought young farmer Barney but her life is harsh, and she must endure the hatred of her brutal brother-in-law Luke, who eventually punishes both Emma and Barney in a particularly horrific fashion.

Emma must also bear the heartache her selfish, promiscuous daughter brings to the family, but she remains a good woman, working herself to exhaustion on the farm when her husband becomes disabled, and refusing to become bitter. I wish Emma had been allowed to use her Whip in a more dramatic, rescuing fashion, like Ayla and her slingshot in Clan of the Cave Bear, but it tends to serve more as a symbol in this novel.

Emma's relentless hard times depressed me more than usual, I don't think the other Cookson heroines suffer quite this much, except maybe Katie Mullholland or Tilly Trotter.

In any event, this is another superb Catherine Cookson I'd highly recommend.

They are beautiful. Very colourful, with detail, lots of symbology and meaning. The book is easy to read from cover to cover, and as a reference book. I highly recommend this set over the others that I've seen.

Included are spreads, ceremonies and rituals, all divided into levels of apprentice,student and elder. You will love the inspiration of this unique teaching tool.

Ralph Nutter writes with extraordinary candor and clarity about a period in our history when he and others of his generation faced terrible odds in the struggle to save the world from Fascism. His account is as compelling as it is straightforward and unvarnished. A must-read for anyone fascinated by the true meaning of courage under fire.

Reads like a good, fast paced novel. Exciting, building chronicle of the air war over Europe and the Pacific.

Explains with starteling clarity the cockpit horrors that left no alternatives to the area bombing of Dresden and Tokyo. Makes it very clear that the A-Bombs were redundant and unnecessary.

A terribly real sense of our "losing years" and the desperate process of a war of attrition. The author, being one of only two survivors of his navigator's class of 22, lets us glimpse the terror and the heroism of an air war where victory would finally go to the combatant who had more young men to "expend"...

This book was interesting from the start. I couldn't put it down. I laughed and cried with the main character and was totally taken into the personal problems of the family and the cultural climate the story was written in. The main characters growth and struggles as a young boy touched my heart and opened my eyes to a totally different world of poverty, discrimination, and what it must have been like growing up in the South during the years before world war 2. I passed this book along to many friends who all are waiting with great anticipation for another book from this author.

I thought this was a fantastic book. The end of each chapter makes you want to read the next one. When the author writes another book, I'll be first in line to get an autographed copy.

Every time I read about the history of Native Americans I tend to get very angry. This was the case when I read this book. The author wrote an honest account of what happened before, during and after the occupation of Alcatraz and again it is a story of injustice. Well written.

This book, like its predecessors (The Almanac of American Politics and the Almanac of British Politics) contains information on every federal riding (district) in Canada, including a wealth of political and demographic data. True political junkies will love it as well serious students of Canadian politics. This isn't a book you read -- you flip it open and dive in

I suggest read the other two first, they are great reads. Not the typical Vietnam horror stories. All three books are laced with insight and humor. This is a rouge CIA agent, different objectives and certainly different methods. I leaned a lot about the war from different view points. This is the third book completes the venture.
