Excellent photography; good info for amateur eagle watchers
This book contains excellent photographs of eagles including action shots, still shots, and closeup photos of the birds' features. It includes poetry and Indian lore having to do with eagles, as well as personal notes from zoologists and other eagle enthusiasts. There is an interesting section on the historical significance of the eagle, beginning with Benjamin Franklin's suggestion of the bald eagle as the national symbol and ending with today's efforts to save the eagle from extinction. Those interested in seeing eagles for themselves will find the list of eagle viewing locations helpful; there is also a list of contact information for organizations working to save America's eagles.

Brian Wayne Wells, Esquire, reviews "The American Eagle"
Dan Reed writes an organized and balanced story of American Airlines and the company's president, Robert Crandall. Bob Crandall was a innovative leader in the marketing and operation of United State's airlines.

Crandall used the SABRE computerized system of reservartions, the practice of gathering passengers in regional "hub" airports to fill big planes operating between major hubs and the frequent flyer programs to build American Airlines the nation's first airline during the years following the 1978 de-regulation of tha airline industry.

This is an exciting book which correctly predicted in 1993, that the great period of airline innovation may be ending. The only shortcoming in the book is that it was published too soon. In the fall of 1993, American's flight attendants went on strike which symbolized the real end of the period of turmoil and innovation which this book had predicted.

A penetrating look at peaceful living and dying
Anna Hayward's writing is calm and clear, and full of light! An experienced counselor, she has included helpful and fascinating stories of loved ones who have passed on from this world into the next. White Eagle provides profoundly beautiful teachings from above through Anna's careful selection and commentary. I highly recommend this book.

The Bald Eagle: Free Again!
A well written realistic adventure of two children visiting a wildlife refuge made to protect the American Bald Eagle. Their naturalist guide introduces them to facts about the life cycle of the eagle, folklore, and environmental issues. Beautiful watercolor illustrations enhance the story.

Comments on "The Bald Eagle"
Each chapter of this book begins with an anecdotal episode from one of the two authors, drawn from their considerable experience in the field. The chapter continues with thorough general information about eagle biology. This combination of personal observation and factual information makes for a book that is both interesting and informative. I recommend it for anyone who wants to learn more about bald eagles and what it is like to observe them.

Baldy

A Bird's Eye View on Honor
Baldy Eagle is a wonder animal personification story which defines honor in comparison to destruction. Also, the book gives the reader a rich description of different types of eagles.
In the story Baldy wakes one day and decides to make a new friend. So, after a brief introduction about characteristics of bald eagles, he sets off and meet's Little Tom Gopher who is being destructive.
I like the way Baldy explains to Little Tom about honor and what he does to help Little Tom. I feel children could easily relate to either of the characters.
Finally, the last chapter very fluently describes many different types of eagles. The use of adjectives and comparisons helps the reader to easily get a picture of these eagles.
This story would be an excellent resource for any character education lesson. Yet at the same time would be just as usful in a science unit. It is written on a second grade reading level but could easily be used by any child or teacher in elementary school.
This book is just one in the Feather tale Series. Each has a bird for the main character who is teaching a secondary character about some human virtue.

Cross the Ocean in Majesty
This book is an absolute "Must" for any sailor or history buff. For landlubbers this is an affectionate account of the beauty and strength of the sea, the men and women who protect our shores and the surprisingly rich but (until now) overlooked history of The Eagle.

The book combines a hard-core sailing voyage with lyrical history; most touching is Drumm's account of Eagle's return to present-day Germany, where the young boys recruited by Hitler's Germany - now old men - reboard their beloved ship and meet today's young crew.

Excellent
An excellent review of the political manuevering that the Republic of Dubrovnik had to do to maintain it's autonomy from the clutches of Venice and the Ottoman Empire. A great book for people interested in the history of this beautiful former city state located in today's Croatia.
