A MUST READ
I have read and listened to many, many "motivational" authors and speakers. Not until reading The Tiny Warrior did I find the ultimate in inspiring and motivational guidance. Vanas has the rare skill of packing large messages into few words. Skilfully written, this book appeals to all ages from 7 to 70 and is a "must read" for anyone striving to realize their full potential.

21st Century Warriors
"The Tiny Warrior" isn't like any book I've ever read. It is original, insightful and full of wisdom. It speaks to the warrior in all of us struggling to fight today's battles. His unique way of presenting through story and points to remember, make it a great resource for leadership in the 21st Century. What a gem of a book! A must for us all.

Tiny Warrior, Tremendous Impact
If you think you've read "all those inspirational books" before, then you haven't read this one. D.J. Vanas has crafted a tight and illuminating book that is guaranteed to make you see your life in a new way. Engaging, reflective, and often humorous in humble way, The Tiny Warrior condenses an amazing amount of wisdom into less than 100 pages. I spent more time pausing to consider what I had just read than I did actually reading it - and that's the way it should be.

REVISED EDITION COMING IN MARCH 2001
Greetings from Kicking Eagle! We have experienced several delays in getting the 8th printing of THE LEGEND BEGINS! We expect to have it available in March, 2001. We have heard from thousands of you who are waiting for the book and appreciate each and all of you. Without you, there would be no "Legend." It has been an honor to hear you who have read it and who want to order copies for associates, friends and relatives. The third printing of I KNOW ICAN! will also be available and two new books are scheduled to be released later this year. Meanwhile, Be at peace, ride the wind...and remember: "You can walk on water when you learn to use your tears as stepping stones!" Again, Thank you!

The Legend Lives!
I first read the book when I purchased it at the State Fair of Texas in 1994. It changed my life, and the lives of several of my friends. Each time you read it, you find something new. Speaking of "new," I just received a gift of the eighth printing (revised edition, May 2001) and it has more pages than before. There is so much written between the lines. I found confidence, spirituality, and history. My friends found self-esteem, patriotism, and values from the past. I would recommend this book to anyone and it is the perfect gift for any person, any age. If you like Indian history, American history; if you still believe in "the good guys," or if you seem to be "lost" and would like to find yourself, you'll find it all in this book. It is published by Kicking Eagle Press, P.O. Box 98, New Ringgold, Pa 17960.

Hello from the author...
This is Kicking Eagle and I appreciate the reviews, the keys to the city, the many honors from The People, and the letters from around the world. YOU create the "Legend." The 8th printing contains 112 pages and the Legend will continue. Wani'shi! (Thank You). ~ Eagle

Vivid, Entrapping,Wonderful Novel
I bought this novel over 5 years ago. I read it 3 times, and recently was entrapped again for the 4th time. I love this book! The story, natural settings, characters are so real it fells as if you are alive in there village. I'm looking forward to reading the third novel from Linda Lay Shuler.

I am delighted to have found this author!
I thought She Who Remembers was a fantastic book. I was thrilled to find Shuler had written a follow-up story. I found Voice of the Eagle a little less interesting in the beginning, but I'm glad I stuck with it. The second half of the book was even more exciting than She Who Remembers! I'm definitely going to read Let the Drum Speak! These books are richly steeped in history and customs. A must for every Native American story lover!

Wish the story didn't have to end, 6 stars!
I travel to New Mexico every year to visit my in-laws and every
year I fall in love again with the land, the people, the history, the turquoise jewlery.... and the stars. And every time I leave I am heartsick of the big sky, beautiful mountains, exotic plants and sweet air. Reading Voice of the Eagle is the only cure for my "desert seperation". Mrs. Shuler's talented storytelling and compelling characters make this book one of the best in pre-historic fiction. This book is sweeping in its plot of love, duty, and ceremony among the ancient Towas of Cicuye.
I can close my eyes and see again the vast landscapes, the endless blue sky. I love this book!

DEATH OF AN EAGLE
Published in Audio Cassette by Books in Motion (10 January, 2000)
Author: Kirby Jonas

The top western!
I read Death of an Eagle after being introduced to Jonas's books through THE DANSING STAR. I didn't think Jonas could get any better, but now I don't know. I'll have to cast my vote for this one. I've read Louis L'Amour all my life, and he was always my favorite author. One of the other reviewers said Kirby Jonas is called THE NEW LOUIS L'AMOUR, and that fits. But he's actually better than L'Amour. His character development is complete and tremendous! What a super book! My favorite western of all time--a match for SHANE.

Everyone will love this book!
I read Kirby Jonas's The Dansing Star, and I didn't think a better book could come along. Then I read Death of an Eagle. I don't know if it's actually better. But it's different. Refreshing, and happy and sad. It brings out every emotion you can feel, bar none. The ending of this book is so sad, but it shows how life was back then, and the changing of the west. Still, good always triumphs in a great book, and Death of an Eagle has to be among the top books from the who I consider the best Western writer who has ever lived. They call Kirby Jonas the New Louis L'AMour. I loved L'AMour's stuff, but Jonas is FAR better--more historically accurate, and more full of detail and emotion.

Understanding the heart of the West............
A sculptor taps away at a rock and reveals the body he finds beneath the stone. A painter looks at a blank canvas and sees images coming to life at the discretionary wave of his hand. It is the essence of the artist that we are left to interpret as we often see little of the toil that brought the piece to life. However, sometimes, we look upon an artistic rendering and know the artist suffered, or enjoyed, or was fulfilled by the work; and we get to see the secret innermost reaches of his soul. It speaks to us because it was so very real and important to him. And in that moment when that common thread is found, we smile and say, "I understand what he meant." Now the inverse of that would be the artist that looked at his audience and said, "I understand what they want." This book, like all those of Jonas, gives the lover of the West just that. This man ushers his readers into a time machine and brings the west alive in a way that no writer, in my experience, previously has done. Zane Gray and Louis L'Amour will always be the standards to which this writer is compared as people will find it hard to step out of the genre. But I challenge the reader to compare Jonas' work to the pieces completed by Hemingway at this stage of his career, even Kipling, or Yeats. There is a poetry and fluidity to this young man's style that happens to be portrayed in the west but should be respected on any level of writing quality. You see, PASSION, in all things, is what separates those from the common soldiers that allow the momentum of mediocrity to rule their lives. Jonas speaks volumes of heart and soul in "Eagle" because the voice he has found rings true and with a commitment to accuracy. Much like a proud man would protect his family heritage, Jonas takes the responsibility of "story teller" to the highest degree. "Death of an Eagle" is a must read. It's portrayals of accuracy, kinship, loyalty and heart are merely the superficial assets of the "piece". Lying below the sculptor's rendering, surrounded by stone, beats a heart, available to all and proudly offered by this great author.

bitter sweet
the wave of emotion you experience was emmence. I have read about 7 of wilbur smith's books and this is my favorite to date. the discriptive details he writes with, made me break down into tears several times. It is a rollercoaster of emotion and lets you really appreciate life and what we have. It is a very graphic, bitter sweet book. David and Debra, Joe and poor Hanna I will never forget, neither will you after reading this book.

This is Wilbur Smith's best work.
David is a playboy pilot on vacation. There he meet and falls in love with Deborah. Deborah's father is in charge of Isreal's Air Force. What happens next will... trust me, you won't put this book down. And when you have finished it you will pick it up the next day and read it again. Do not lend this book to you friends! They will tell you they haven't finished it because they a re-reading it or have given it to someone else as a great gift

Smith's best
I've read all 27 of Wilbur Smith's books -- looking back I have to say that this one is the best. It's not the funniest, most interesting, or most exciting of his books, but it certainly made the biggest impact on me. Just thinking about the book (and it's been a long while since I've read it) sends a wave of emotion over me.

Fast-moving & fantastic
Armageddon Axis is a prime example of why Outlanders is the best adventure series available. This one not only features the return of the nasty dwarf genius, Sindri from an earlier book, but it showcases a severe blow struck by the heros against the barons. As always, Outlanders is fast-moving with sharply detailed characters and lots of interesting plot devices, such as the Aurora spy-plane.

Like usual--Terrific
Like most of the books in this series, Armageddon Axis is a terrific action story. I particularly liked this one since it featured the return of Sindri, the evil dwarf from the first Outlanders I read, Parallax Red. It looks like Sindri is being set up as a recurring adversary for Kane, like Dr. Loveless is with Jim West. The plot in this one is compelling with new insights into the characters. Not only that, but the book ties in with one of the best Deathlands novels of the last few years, Stoneface. So much happens in this book it's best if everybody reads it for themselves. You won't be sorry.

both series
I would just like to say that for about the last 2 years,i have been reading both death lands and also outlanders.when it comes down to it,the last outlanders was the best.if you read the book you know what i am talking about!and as far as deathlands,i would have to say that shadow world really shook me up.because we as a people are on the same path as those who want to invade our world.

Wings of the Eagle : A Kingsmen's Story
One of the best books on Viet Nam that I have read. The first person account from a young and inexperienced helicopter pilot was captivating and the book was hard to put down. The author's ability to capture his fears and concerns while vividly describing the missions he flew is unsurpassed. I especially enjoyed the author's perception of his fellow warriors and his ability to bring every thing together. I felt like I was there. A great read!

Great Book ! ! !
Of all the first account (non-fiction) books I've read about Viet Nam, this has to be one of the best. I've read this three or four times and have enjoyed it every time. It is well written and really communicates the shear terror, humor, friendships, fealt by those who served in VN. I wish I had been there with these people.

I also highly reccomend the books by the Lurps he flew: Linderer, Chambers, Burford (?), and others.

Excellent Story, Excellent Book
This book is an incredible story that has everything. It was like sitting down and listening to a great war hero tell about his experiences and war stories from back in the day. I simply could not put the book down, it kept my interest throughout. This is not ficion which appeals to me because this actually happened, and those people really exist. I would love to have met the people that were spoken of in this book. I read it for the first time while I was on a one year tour of S. Korea in '94. I was a crewmember for the OV-1D Mohawk, so this type of book was right up my ally. In fact I liked the book so much that I told all of my friends about it and they all wanted to borrow the book. I have never seen the book since the day I lent it out. The author really did a great job.

Busman's Honeymoon: A Love Story With Detective Interruptions (Eagle Large Print)
Published in Hardcover by Chivers North Amer (June, 1993)
Author: Dorothy L. Sayers
Amazon base price: $21.95
Average review score:

From A Dorothy L. Sayers Groupie
As a DLS Groupie, I love all of her books, but especially those books that pertain to the Harriet Vane character. This book, as well as 'Gaudy Night' by Sayers, is primarily about the relationship of Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane. The extraordinary thing about all of Sayers' books is her beautiful amd sensual use of language to paint a picture with words.

The culmination of the three previous Harriet Vane novels.
Dorothy L. Sayers' "Busman's Honeymoon" can be considered her finest "all inclusive" Lord Peter Wimsey novel. She skillfully combines the culmination of the Wimsey/Vane romance and a "domestic mystery". Whereas other of her novels (The Nine Tailors, for example) could be considered her best mysteries, this book is beautifully written. The reader is expected to have a passing knowledge of England at the time and the life to date of the characters, as well as a classically literate education. Don't let this put you off, however; the book stands perfectly well alone. It's old - it's not outdated.

Vintage Sayers.
I am glad to find so many favorable reviews of this, Dorothy L Sayers' final detective fiction novel, on the internet. It failed to find much favor with the public or the critics when it was written in the late 1930s. In actual need of the income that her earlier works in this genre had generated (she had to support not only herself but also a non-productive husband and an illegitimate son), she negotiated with her publisher to "once again try my hand at detective fiction" after he had pointed out that the market seemed to have become saturated.

Just as a busman's holiday is a vacation where the busman is likely to be as involved with driving as he is throughout the rest of the year, a busman's honeymoon (a phrase which she coined) is one where the busman (in this case Lord Peter Wimsey) is likely to spend his honeymoon checking alibis, interviewing murder suspects, observing rigor mortis, and all the other tiresome activities of an amateur detective.

Lord Peter and Harriet Vane are the honeymooners. After their wedding (reported in a series of letters that begin the novel), they travel to "Talboys", a country house chosen by Harriet. Their reception is not as predicted. Eventually Lord Peter's butler, Bunter, discovers a corpse in the cellar.

The novel began life as a play, as you may infer from the many static scenes involving a large ensemble of characters entering and exiting. The prose is as rich in wit, classical illusions and sophistication as you will ever encounter in detective fiction. Dorothy L. Sayers was an honours graduate and capable of writing as well as George Eliot.

Don't expect the kind of fast food satisfaction that Agatha Christie provided so successfully. You will find instead the full silver service dining and wining experience here.

An Outstanding Chronicle of the Cold War
This is an exciting book for anyone who wants to learn about the "cold war" following the Korean conflict, and before and after the Vietnamese war. This book gives an account of the life of a man who served his country. Paul Adkisson does not hide his feelings behind false bravado or add inflated deeds to impress us. His story is told simply but profoundly in the language of a sailor doing his duty at a time when few of us cared. Paul Adkisson's story is the story of many of us who served during that time. There are no great flashes of adventure nor is the destruction of the world thrwarted by a single act of bold daring-- as one reads in popular fiction. Yet, on every page one learns of the quiet heroism of men doing their duty and living their daily lives. There have been many men like Paul Adkisson but he has taken the time and effort to share his life with us. His personal odyssey is a truly great adventure and should be read by everone. Thank you Paul, for your years of duty and sacrifice. Your life and your story enriches us all.

He Brought My Father Back For Me
I found Paul Adkisson by reading the reviews of this book. I took a chance, wondering if he just happened to serve with my father, Richard Wooton, Chief Master at Arms. When he wrote me back, not only did he surprise me by indicating he knew my father, but told me he knew him well, and told me stories!! My father passed away in January of 1994, and Mr. Adkisson brought him back just by the stories and the e-mails I received from him. He sent me a copy of his book Anchors and Eagles, and I have read it from cover to cover. This is the most truthful, true-to-Navy-life book I have read, and it also reminds me of the years spent traveling with my father throughout his 26-year Navy career. Like my father, Mr. Adkisson has served his country well, and he should be extremely proud. Thank you again...[sincerely]

The integrity of this man is absolutely astonishing. Out of a possible 10, he gets a 15 from me!

REALITY
ANCHORS AND EAGLES is a trip back to a life that is keep in the back of this sailor's mind.It will awaken your memories of things you hoped were forgotten. The many ports we visited and the memories of a life at sea are there. Our loves, our hates, they both say "hello" again. Paul Adkisson decribes SERE training to the point of reality. The chief hasn't told us sea stories. He has told us twenty years of a life.He and many more sailors like him have made our NAVY! The Chief has put to words what we felt and because of our own reasons,we were unable to journal. It was my pleasure to have served with Chief Adkisson in 'Nam on YR-70 in 1966 and 1967. MMCM Paul Adkisson I salute you!

More Than Friends (Eagle Large Print)

A Story of Loss of Trust
Two families are very close. The adults in the story have been friends since before they married. A very serious mistake is made which effects everyone in the book. The individuals work through their hurt and disappointment in their own way. Some stay together, some stay but all are changed.

It was a wonderful book and I'm so glad I read it.This is about the 5th Barbara Delinsky books I have read. I love all of them.

DELINSKY JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER!
This is a wonderful, powerful book. Barbara Delinsky is one of the really fine authors of our time. She gives her characters such depth that I feel like I'm reading about people I would really like to know. Her imagination is endless and vivid. I read this in record time and will be ordering all of the books by this author that I have not yet read. Thank you, Barbara.

Lessons in Love and Forgiveness
This book begins beyond the point in a relationship where many romance novels end. Members of two very close families both make mistakes that are life altering. All family members learn to deal with seeing people they love as flawed and fallible. Eventually we learn that it is foundations that count and not so much of what is built on top.

Sam is wonderful! He is able to cope with his feet of clay and not make a full fledged Greek tragedy from a blunder. He hangs in with his family, admits to his flaws, AND does the work that is needed to get the outcomes that he wants. He deals with life and its imperfections and does a great job of it. I can't imagine who could have done a better job of rediscovering the joys of family under such imperfect circumstances.

You should read this, I learned many important lessons from this Delinsky novel.
