An epic for the jet age
If you've ever wondered what it's like to be behind the stick of a combat aircraft, read this book! The dogfight scenes are so realistic, I could almost feel the g-force pinning me to the chair as I was reading. The author, a former fighter pilot himself, uses stripped down prose peppered with Air Force lingo to paint a taught picture of aerial combat.

But ultimately, "Never Lark Nor Eagle" is a great story that follows the life and times of a fighter pilot through twenty years and three wars. Carl "Bing" Morro, the story's protagonist, is a charasmatic and likable hero who has the potential to become as an enduring a character as James Bond or Jack Ryan. Yet the author is careful to keep Morro grounded in humanity. We watch him grow from a cocky young kid to a battle-scarred combat officer, all the while retaining his same likeable charm throughout the book.

The supporting characters are as richly drawn as well. They will definitely evoke an emotional reponse. One character irritated me so much, I kept waiting for him to get shot down! This is the level of skill by which the author pulls you in. You actually care about these people, and that keeps the pages turning.

The story is an engaging blend of action and drama set against an amazingly accurate historical backdrop.

Take it for a test flight.

Readers will enjoy this taut romantic suspense
In the Chicago area, Thomas Brown Wolf has become a famous somewhat reclusive comic strip writer-artist with popular characters like Dark Dog and Victory. Thomas overcame a stressful life with the help of cop Jesse Brownwolf and his wife and teacher Angela. However, Thomas is angry with his surrogate father who arrested his brother Stoney on drug charges.

Angela asks Thomas to mentor young Aaron, nephew of a friend wealthy widow art dealer Cassandra Findley. Reluctantly Thomas agrees, but hates being attracted to Cassandra, who he previously met during a bidding war between them at an auction. As Angela and Thomas fall in love, someone begins stealing her art while mimicking his comic, placing her in danger from an unknown assailant who seems to want to keep the two of them apart.

Though the twist that causes the tension is difficult to accept (0nce revealed), readers will enjoy this taut romantic suspense due to the obvious flaws of the lead duo. Angela is an interesting protagonist, having married an older man who has since died leaving her rich. Thomas displays impatience and anger until Angela begins to calm him down. Aaron is especially a solid secondary player whose artwork is as dark as they come though he is quite young. The plot implies that his mother's flirty inanity might cause the youth's somber outlook. The audience will gain pleasure with the intriguing relationships between the key players that make for a fine read.

An old time woodworker
I am always looking for patterns to cut on my scroll saw and I must say I am really picky about the designs I decide to cut. I purchased this book for the wildlife designs and they are all top notch. You will not be disappointed with the quality Lora Irish, puts into her designs. I highly recommend this book. Its worth double its cost.

Unputdownable
Following "The Founding", "The Dark Rose" and "The Princeling", this is the fourth book in the MORLAND DYNASTY series.

After many years of peace and prosperity, the reign of Charles I brings brutal civil strife to England.

With their century-long history of fighting for what they consider a just cause, the Morland family is drawn inevitably into the bloody fighting. While the oldest son Ralph brings home a Puritan wife, thus creating a schism between himself and his father, his younger brother Kit joins the Royalist cavalry under Prince Rupert. Before leaving for the war, Kit marries his cousin Hero, thus making a lifelong enemy of Hero's brother Hamil. When the two cousins meet during the war, albeit fighting on the same side, the death of one seems inevitable.

There are so many more stories in the book concerning the various branches of the Morlands that it is impossible to go into more detail. For the first time, the author includes Colonial America in the story, telling of the desperate struggle of a young couple to survive in a harsh New World.

The characters are believable and the stories, which have been well researched, are full of rich historical detail. I simply could not stop reading until I reached the last page and then I rushed on to the next book. I have read the first six books in the series and have not yet been disappointed.

This book is great!
If you have listen to Joyce Meyer's tape series about eagles then you will love this book because this is where she got her information about the Eagle and the different "birds in the church." This book should be in EVERY Pastors library. A Pastor or teacher could use this book for an awesome study of the Scriptures where God likens us to the eagle. From the courtship to the nest this is an absolutely awesome book.
