A clarification from the author
Potential buyers need to be aware that this volume is a reissue of my 1996 book "Raptors: The Birds of Prey," which the publisher has released with a new title and cover art, but with no changes to the content. I am embarrassed to see that they have promoted it as though it was a new book; while I'm pleased the book is again in print, I believe they should have been more forthright in making clear that it is a reissue instead of an entirely new work -- Scott Weidensaul. (Ignore the star rating, please -- the review would not post without it.)

Packed with fine details any avid birder will relish
This exquisite guide will find a home in any public library and many a personal library: it covers over 300 species of raptors, blending the latest natural history facts and scientific research with photos and details of the birds in nature. From population and distribution statistics to accounts of items recovered from nests and nesting habits, Raptor Almanac is packed with fine details any avid birder will relish.

Very Interesting Story
I was very caught up in the different lives of the Characters in The Stork Club which is a therapy group that is for people with children in non-traditional homes. Each individual and couple has a different story and the author takes you through each one. You are told how they made the decision that brought them to The Stork Club. A very modern and interesting story.

Emotional and very good!!!
This book is a very emotional and somewhat sad story. It focuses on people who want or have children and is very cute and sad in some parts. A good rainy day book to curl up with.

Review
This is about King Spartas and his wife, Helena. Helena runs off with a Trojan man and she falls in love with him. This angers the king so he gathers an army of Greek troops too to go retrieve his wife. The Greeks made a plan to get into the city of troy and take Helena from the Trojans. They built a huge wooden horse and they set it outside the shores of troy. Once it was inside the city, the Greek troops that were hiding inside came out and attacked the city of Troy. They ended up winning the battle and getting the girl back.
I think this book did a really good job at describing the events that took place in the battle to get Helena back. I think it is a good book for children to read cause it can tell them about the story while keeping their attention. I think a lot of books that are about mythology do not good a good job in that aspect but this one did. I think the author was trying to write a book about the Trojan wars that would really grab a child's attention and this one does.

good history resource
This step into reading book is geared for 2-4 grades. The chapters are short and fully illustrated. The sentences are kept short but the story still remains interesting. There is a pronunciation guide at the back of the book for those unusual names like Menelaus. Great reading for a unit study on Ancient Greece.

Th story of an ultra-rare Wurger.
You've got to be a WW2 aviation enthusiast to appreciate this reference work, otherwise it's a bit dry. The "Wurger" name means "butcher bird" and describes this aircraft type's efficiency as a bomber killer. This model was an advanced model which was among the finest fighter planes of the war, if not the best. At war's end, the "yellow 10" was brought to the U.S. and eventually fell on hard times. It's low point was sitting out in the open, vulnerable to the elements and severe vandalism. The story of it's resurrection to the star display at a fighter museum is well documented. But you've go to enjoy the details! 89 pages and lots of very good photographs (both wartime and restoration process), mostly B & W though.

Superlative treatment
You have to really be into your subject to appreciate this. A history of the Champlin Fighter Museum's Dora. Superb Tullis artwork and the story of one mans passion for a Luftwaffe fighter with something of a chequered history. Superb analysis of the various Dora variants..and this was one of the rarest.

Excellent for Ann Arborites and visitors!!
Contains some of the most beautiful photos I've seen of our picturesque town. I grew up in Ann Arbor and now live in nearby Saline, and found most of the places I was looking for. Dale Fisher, being a local photographer, has captured all that we love about this diverse town. The book does an excellent job of covering many areas of Ann Arbor, as well as the surrounding communities. Makes a great gift for graduations, birthdays, or any occasion.

A wonderful tool with which to realign oneself
As a channeler of White Eagle, I was most delighted to have the opportunity to read these words of wisdom which someone else so kindly and timely channeled. As we travel lifes paths, oftimes we get sidtracked and once again, the guidance of White Eagle wisdom continues to be timely. I recieved one book, I gifted it, and purchased another.
