French Resistance Comes Alive
This book is a terrific read for anyone interested in the History of World War II and the French Resistance. Farraris has written a fictionalized memoir. If this is anything even close to his life--I want to meet this man!

This would be a great read for a book club. There are parts that would appeal to any reader. The book has few sexy parts, lots of suspense and intrigue.

I want to keep reading this book.

GOOD BUT COULD BE BETTER
this book provides great pics of ferraris, and gives a good historical backround about enzo. it also has stats of all the cars. but it is missing some models and some of the data is wrong, it could be better but it is a cool book.

A Good Overview
For those who want a quick rundown on these cars, this is the book. There is a mix of color and black & white photos throughout that are good but not great. For the price, this is a good buy and worthy addition to your Ferrari library, but don't expect an extensive review or full page glossy color photos.

Misses the mark.
As someone new to canning, I was left with lots of unanswered questions after reading this book. She skips some very basic questions to the novice and leaves you scratching your head. I would not recommend it to anyone new to the subject

Read instructions carefully at the front of the book before
I am really sorry that Phil Brown found his recipe in this book hard to follow and left him scratching his head. Because of the room allowed with each recipe the step by step process of canning is written in the beginning pages of the book. If you are a novice at canning it is recommended that you review these steps whenever you have a problem. I hope that readers will read instructions carefully and will be successful with these recipes. I own a cooking school and we teach from this book very sucessfully over and over again.

Wonderful
This book has wonderful recipes. I get compliments every time I serve something. I especially enjoy how she gives recipes to use what you've canned. This is lacking in many-many cookbooks. Thanks Linda for making a good and useful book.

ferrari is a great sportcar.I love it

The Complete(?) Ferrari
It is a very interesting book with a big variety of photos and comments. Its big page format makes it a pleasure to read. It would be a 5 star if only it had the latest Ferraris. It must be considered as an excellent source of information for classic Ferraris. It is very good but it is not the "Complete Ferrari"

Worthy of the Prancing Horse.
Anybody who puts together a book about Ferrari cars has his or her hands full. The book must, to some level present the car in a manner somewhat reminiscent of the real thing. As this maker has made only masterpieces, that is a tall order indeed. The way you do that, however, is to ensure your book is filled with large, glossy, high quality, color pictures of these cars from all angles, close up and far. You also should make sure you cover all the models to enough detail to satisfy the hunger of the typical Ferrari nut. This book does just that, and it does it well. It is large and inviting and the pictures and commentary are first rate. Both popular and lesser known models are given generous coverage for a book covering an entire line. It covers the cars chronologically and you will not be dissapointed by the coverage and photos of your favorite, no matter which model that might be. A great oversized book like this is a perfect window to the finest cars ever made. I have scanned and read this book several times since I bought it. This book is a must have.

Too Much Ferrari
Nice book, and the online version of the book is available at CuoreSPORTIVO ICEO Web Site. Why pay for?

Excellent picture book
I am not a die hard Ferrari fan but I bought this book because of the pictures and the rare Ferraris. Some are well known like the Testarossa, Modena, etc. but others like the 166MM roadster, etc are rare cars that look great. This is by no means a comprehensive history of Ferrari but it certainly is quite enlightening. My only complaint is that there isn't enough technical information and photographs of engines and that's why I am giving this book only 4 stars. Nevertheless it would make a fine gift for any automobile enthusiast!

An enlightening look at the evolution of Ferrari sportscars
This book probably does not cover ALL models of Ferrari but gives the reader an insight into Ferrari and how his models evolved over the years. I am not a die hard Ferrari fan but I bought this book mainly because of its full colour photos. Laban includes little known facts (to me at least!) about Ferrari's handling of customers and his ideas for cars. The 166 roadster and the 250GT SWB are probably my favourite Ferrari's and there are some 2+2 models here that I have never seen before. As for technical information and photographs of engine and suspension details, Laban does not elaborate as much as I would have liked and this is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of five. My only complaint is that I would like to see how the cars were constructed. If you're looking for detailed technical information and how the cars were constructed then this probably isn't the book for you. Nevertheless it would make a fine gift for most automobile enthusiasts and boys (and girls) who like cars!

Ferrari Tuning Tips and Maintenance Techniques

Warning
This book is a reprint of the first edition published in 1977. Do not buy if you are looking for information on modern Ferrari's.

General Maintenance book does well
I am delighted to see all the information that this books provides. While it is not Haynes quality of detail, it is for the Ferrari owner who has worked on cars previously or professional mechanic who just needs references for specific details. The amount of reference information is a real plus for the Ferrari oriented gear-head. There is also a fairly complete list of sources for Ferrari parts and substitutions. As mentioned in the previous review, it is for older cars. The main focus appears to be the V-12 cars. The most recent non V-12 addition appears to be the 308 GT4.

Quite nice for a Ferrari fanatic.
This book is real cool. All the pictures are amazing! The only problem is, it's not new and it doesn't have formula 1 cars. It only features cars from the beginning till the F50. It's real cool though.

For the price of some magazines this hardback book ain't bad
This book contains a brief insight into each of the Ferrari road cars produced between 1948 (166)- 1995 (F50). Each car is limited to two pages of history, photographs, and technical data.

The photograph quality is very good but not all that big in size. Technical info is minimal.

If you already own a few good Ferrari books, then I doubt this book has anything to offer you that you don't already know. Otherwise, considering price and photograph quality it is still appealing.

If you are just becoming interested in Ferrari road cars and want some basic info with pictures and not willing to spend alot of money, then this book is nice place to start.

Excellent Value
Ferrari; The Legend is concerned only with Ferrari's road cars beginning with the 166 Inter and concluding with the F50. Each model receives two pages of beautiful photos and interesting commentary. The meanings of the numbers and letters in the name for each model, dates of production, and interesting facts are all included in the commentary. However, the photos alone (such as the two-page photo of the 512TR s/n 94516) are well worth the price of the book! Specifications, acceleration data and production figures are also given. Excellent value!

Not the best racing autobiography
Life in the Fast Lane was repetitive and self-serving. There was nothing new about the years with Ferrari. This Irvine fan was quite disappointed.

Life In The Fast Lane
A nice glimpse into the world of Eddie Irvine, although it never gets intimate. This is a narrative. Eddie, and some of his friends and family, tell little stories about his life and particularly the '99 season.

Not particularly well written, it's people talking about Eddie and his interests and his thoughts on life. And the reader has to have some knowledge on F1. Disappointingly, not much detail or explanations are given about the year's events.

Example: Not one conversation is recorded or recalled with Michael Shumacher. Just general impressions about his talented teammate. I wanted more.

I gave it 3 stars (not less) because I'm a hardcore F1 and Eddie fan.

The Rising Irish Racer, so close yet so far....
Eddie Irvine was very close to the championship title. This book, the 2nd about him, tell you about how he was very close to winning the championship, including what actually happen when he outbrake Schumacher before the crash in Silverstone...a priceless book for fans and collectors alike...better than Schumacher's book...

The Whiplash Encyclopedia: The Facts and Myths of Whiplash

Ferrari - King of junk science
When you read Mr. Ferrari's attempt at an Encyclopedia, someone who was not familiar with his works would be impressed with the title of the treatise and some of the included tabloid information. Unfortunately, his compilation of works is only of the junk science that (mostly) he and other defense-sponsored quacks try to espouse on the complex issue of whiplash injuries. The articles in this issue are out-of-the mainstream, referenced among themselves like an inter-bred family, and completely out of touch with the 10,000 or so published, peer-reviewed works on the subject of whiplash.
For instance, his results of rear-impact collisions in Lithuania suggest you are actually better off if you were in a car crash than the normal population walking down the street - which is quite different from the real-world epidemiology. This text should be a bible only for defense attorneys, and those who have no clue as to what actually happens in the cervical acceleration/deceleration syndrome, are trying to 'pull a fast one' on an uneducated jury, or don't really care. Get Croft or Nordhoff's text if you want ot know what really happens in auto collisions. This trash is a waste of your money.

Doesn't weed out the junk science!
I have read Ferrari's book and it is incredibly biased against the phenomenon of whiplash. The overwhelming balance of the engineering and medical literature on whiplash is clear that whiplash-associated injuries are very real injuries.

What is missing is a critical review of the quality of research in this field. When the insurance industry sets out to do research on whiplash, the sole purpose is to present biased information which can be used by defense lawyers in court. Much of this "junk science" has been refuted overwhelmingly in the medical and engineering literature.

Anyone interested in the true nature of whiplash should become familiar with the work of Panjabi et al. at Yale University. This group has performed crash testing with human cadavers and looks at the damage to facet joints of the cervical spine (neck) even in low speed collisions.

Ferrari's bias is suspicious, to say the least, and his articles in the literature are weak and often without merit. He has claimed that TMJ (jaw joint) injuries in whiplash accidents do not exist. Perhaps Mr. Ferrari, who has probably never experienced a whiplash injury firsthand, would be willing to volunteer as a human dummy in crash testing to test the hypotheses put forward in this pro-insurance company book. But then, he might feel compelled to seek the truth.

Remember, while greed is at the heart of whiplash malingerers, it is also at the heart of the auto insurance industry (we might call it capitalistic or the "profit motive"). However, long after whiplash victims settle their legal cases with the insurance companies, there is a strange event: chronic pain! If litigation and fraud were the driving force behind whiplash, why would whiplash victims continue to seek medical care years and years after their cases settled?

The answer is clear: insurnce companies don't want to pay the 95% of claims which are legitimate. Certainly fraud exists. However, it does not exist to the point that insurance companies would have us believe.

Listen: Suppose I take two wine glasses filled with wine and strike them together as hard as I can, breaking the glasses? Suppose now that I videotape this event with a high-speed (high-quality) recorder? What happens?

Answer: The glasses shatter, and for a split second, the wine stays still.

Now suppose I hit the two glasses together as hard as I can, but not quite hard enough to break the glasses. What happens now?

Answer: The wine goes all over the place, with no damage to the glasses!

Compare to a low speed collision: Does no damage to a car really mean there is no damage to the occupants?

OF COURSE NOT! But that is what this book would like you to believe.

Nonsense. Utter nonsense!

Still the best read on the subject
Most books on whiplash have such a limited scope, or are so out-dated by the time they are pubished, that they do not offer much to the lawyer, insurance adjuster, or physician. Despite being published in 1999, this book remains the Bible of Whiplash, being more comprehensive than any other book, explaining everything from facet joints to low-velocity collisions to psychosocial and treatment issues.

I notice that Ferrari is the most publsihed person on whiplash in the scientific literature. This adds a credibility to the work that no other author can match. As a Defence lawyer, meeting the Daubert criteria is critical. I thus recommend this book for Defence lawyers and all medical experts who want to stay credible in their work.
