Best for Glasgow
A fascinating city, this would be the number 1 book to take there with you. Virtually no photographs, but good maps and great detail about the city, it's sights, culture, people, and style. And Glasgow has lots of style. The Footprint book is thorough with a sense of humour, easy to carry, covers outlining areas and day trips well. A few more maps in the very back would have been helpful, but what was included worked well. This is the best book for Glasgow.

Helping hand
In one word - Marvelous. Right when I got It it was a breeze using it. From the ime that you open it, to the time that it's covered in car grease and not ledgable anymore, its a truck owners bible. There is an easy-read index that guides you throughtout the book and tons of photos. As an amature mechanic, I can have trouble reading complicated scematics and maps to engines. But this book made it simple. I would definitly reccomend it to anyone. (Be sure to see the parts list in the back-great help on ordering hard to find parts)

Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner, 1957-1959 (Classic Motorbooks Photofacts)

An excellent book with great information
I found this book a great resource for '57 to '59 Ford Skyliner information. I have owned a '59 Ford Retractable for about 20 years and was curious to the past and making of the great machine. I heard many of the photos of early production among other things in the book were lost in files throughout the years and retreived by Mr. Magayne. In my words, this book is a must have to any Ford Retractable owner or admirer. An excellent car with an excellent past and Mr. Magayne does a great job retracing the cars legendary past.

A BOOK FALCON LOVERS HAVE PRAYED FOR! A BETTER IDEA
I love Ford Falcons. I really do. I think the 1960-63 models were the COOLEST looking. (I also like 1964 and 1965 models, but my FAVORITE models were the 1960-63). The spiffy little Falcon was Ford's better idea. It was a beautiful, streamlined, well proportioned little Ford that got good gas mileage. It was truly a better idea and this book is such a treat for people who love that car. Photographs of the classic Falcon, in all its prime glory will appeal to Falcon lovers and bring many a smile to many a face.

Falcon lovers will also be able to appreciate the sight of a Falcon parade -- a long line of Ford Falcons and the Ford Falcon show. I love it!

This book IS a better idea.

a literary giant
Ford Madox Ford (born Ford Hermann Hueffer) had the good fortune to have as his biographer the English novelist Alan Judd. The tetralogy "Parades End" which marks the end of the gentleman officer class and Edwardian England had its origins in Ford's experiences after his arrival at the Battle of the Somme (1916) with the 9th Welch regiment. Ford's commanding officer,Colonel Cooke, disliked Ford's age (too old), his special reserve officer status, and his literary reputation. Colonel Cooke wrote to brigade headquarters that Ford was "quite unsuitable to perform the duties required of an officer in this campaign" Ford was soon hospitalized with lung problems and sent home to England for medical treatment. He failed in his attempt to return to duty in France and was assigned light duties as a captain in the 23rd King's Liverpool Regiment. He was discharged in 1919 under category 19-"authors,gipsies, travelling showmen, unemployables">(page 308).Judd's sympathetic biography brings to life a writer described by Richard Locke in the Wall Street Journal as a "perennially neglected and rediscovered literary" giant.Locke said that Ford "ended up out of fashion and out of cash". He was the writer in residence at Olivet College, Michigan.Ford will be remembered as a major novelist who generously helped many British and American writers. In 1939 Ford and his long time American companion Janice Biala traveled to France where he died.

Criminally under-read novel by a 20th century great
How I wish I could urge this enormous, engrossing, and satisfying novel on everyone who, for instance, loved Pat Barker's WWI Trilogy, or Ford's own THE GOOD SOLDIER, or Mary Renault's THE CHARIOTEER, or indeed anyone who cares about intricate characterization, a terrific love story, sweep and intricacy in serious fiction. The love story of Christopher Tietjens and Valentine Wannop, and Tietjens monumental battle with his vicious wife Sylvia and all the British ruling class who prop her up, will enthrall you. Let the Ford Madox Ford revival begin!

An Oldie but a Goodie!
I first read this book in the early 1970s as I was restoring my Model A Ford. I bought every book I could that described my favorite antique vehicle. This book was the best and is STILL the best book in my Model A library.

The three authors were, I believe, all Ford Employees that worked in the Ford archives, so they had access to a LOT of original Model A Ford information. The book starts with an introduction of the transition from Model T to Model A and describes historically what happened in the years between 1927 and 1932.

Loaded with Ford archives photographs, the book is a fascinating history and also a big assist to those restoring a Model A, since there are so many good photos of what the cars looked like when new. Many charts and figures add to the usefulness of the book.

One would think that 30 years after production, there would be lots of errors or omissions - not true here. These guys did their homework!

If you can only buy one book on the Model A Ford, get this one. You won't be disappointed.
