This would be a terrific book to use in the classroom. It's subjects include (but are not limited to): map reading, sailing,naviagation, knot tying, weather prediction, geography, Gaugin (yes the artist), poetry and so much more. If I was still a teacher, I would use this book to plan an entire unit.
Also use to start students questioning their goals, courage, perserverence etc.

Bungee's voyage is a wonderful read for adults and children alike. Peter Dudley's amazing illustrations and Sally Ford's charming narrative combine to make a childrens book that I hope will become a classic. I really deserves that honor. I'm an adult (and a sailor) and I found myself enjoying Bungee's adventures and day dreaming of my own sailing trips; those already completed and those still being planned. My son is 15 months old and I secretly hope that he will become a sailor (like his Dad). Bungee's Voyage is my secret weapon to inspire him into the wonderful world of boats and far away places. If you know anyone with children whose day needs brightening, buy this book and give it as a gift.

This charmingly written and beautifully illlustrated book should become a classic for readers who day dream about sailing around the world, or who care about just messing around in boats. Ostensibly a children's book, Bungee's Voyage tells the story of a dog who sails from New England to Tahiti. Sailing in a wonderful wooden boat, Bungee has a series of adventures which are artfully described by Sally Ford and beautifully illustrated by Peter Dudley. Ford and Dudley know sailing, boats, and ocean waters and it shows. Children will love reading or hearing this story and adults will love reading it too. I loved reading about how Bungee faced adversity. The illustrations show that Dudley also knows his way around boats -- down to the rigging.

I have several books about Major Ray and his wife, but also my research includes the friends of his the giant Capt. Shields and his wife, they were my 3 time great grand parents. There relationship with Major Ray and his wife is a great story.

I loved this book because I thought it was very interesting learning about the lives of Major and Jenny Ray. Major and Jenny were 36" and 37" inches tall and travelled with the Sells Brothers Circus. Jenny always carried her Bible. Major had always wanted a wife his size and when he found her he loved her and cared for her until she died. The part I liked best was Major building Jennie a house with beds, tables, chairs, and stairwells all her size. Laura Ford must have spent a long time writing this book. The collections of pictures and illistrations made this book better.

Bette Ford can write the most believeable and sensual love scenes I have ever read. This book was just to good. I love the dynamics between Quinn and his daughter Cynthia and their relationship with Heather. I liked how Bette let us see how Quinn and Cynthia came to have to deal with the death of Quinn's wife (Cynthia's mother) and how Heather helped heal them both. This was a real page turner from start to stop and the love scenes were just breathtaking. Bette puts in her romance books exactly what I am looking for--great story lines, multi-dimensional characters and steamy bedroom action. Enough said!

Ford sure knows how to write a great love story! Ouinn and Heather are out of this world together! They are two wonderful characters to read about. This was a very entertaining novel. Please go out and get yourself a copy!

What a book. This is a true page turner if I say so myself. Heather a counselor of Lawrence High School tries to help one of the students Cynthia. When she calls to talk to Cynthia's father, Quinn she is given the brush off. Determine to help the child she goes over and beyond the call of duty. What she doesn't expect is to find Quinn so dangerously sexy.

Heather personally involves herself in trying to get father and daughter to open up to one another. All the while she falls head over hills in love with Quinn.

After the death of Quinn's wife, Peggy he can't open up to anyone about his true feelings. Not even his daughter. When he meets Heather feelings that he thought he would never feel again arises.

Ms. Ford did a tremendous job with this book. Although it has 375 pages I was able to finish this in two days. That how good it was. The love scenes were HOTT! You will love this book. The secondary characters also make this book even more interesting. I can't wait to read Charles and Diane's story entitled Forever After.

This book is made up of so many different spiritual experiences that come from beyond the normal experience (as we call them). We can draw help, strength, protection, direction and decisions, thru these biddings in the form of prayer and faith. It's hard for me to pick a favorite story because they were all very touching. The one of Bo, the dog and master who had cancer, there was a spiritual bond between them, sad and happy. Mountain Angel is another favorite. It's about Azita Milanian who went running like always and was some how led a different direction the last couple of times and with the help of her dogs found a three day old baby buried in the dirt still alive. On that day she happening be wearing her "Save the Children" T shirt; A miracle in every sense of the word.

Whenever I need an emotional and spiritual boost, I turn to one of the stories in More Hot Chocolate for the Mystical Soul and receive an immediate lift. It reminds me that there are wonders available to people with open hearts and minds, and unseen forces at work in the world. And all the stories are true!

I really enjoyed this book. Most of the stories made me smile, laugh, and cry. It is a very uplifting book. It gives hope and makes you see the good in the world in a time where most of the news is bad.

Shows you lots of illustrated information & recommendations for upgrading your 90's Mustang 5.0, includes excellent how-to-install pages, useful blue prints for machining, and lots of different aftermarket 5.0 parts manufaturers with their part numbers. This book is a must for 5.0 performance modification projects.

This book appears to be a 30 year summation of experience from a veteran Ford hot-rodder. Mr. Mathis gives excellent advice on choosing the appropriate parts for a particular combo and it's all derived from hard core experience on the track and the dyno. His down-to-earth approach and plain english really cuts to the chase, this books subject matter is as correct as it gets yet very easy to understand and apply. He also pays attention to the fact that not everyone is made of money and doesn't cater exclusively to the ultra-expensive setups and parts. If you are even THINKING of upgrading your 79-93 Stang then buy this book, you won't be disapointed!

The information and detail covered in this book is the best I've ever seen. Mr. Mathis keeps the information as simple as possible by keeping the text easy to read and understand. The text is very lightnote and often times humorous to those of us who have been in situations he mentions. He covers it all from A to Z. Making very good recommendations for manufacturers and including the order number for the parts. A true "Must Have" for any Stang or Ford owner.

My mother purchased this book for me as a very young girl, along with other collections of short-stories, and I remember being enchanted with it. The legends are fascinating, although I don't think the fact that they were all about young women and girls ever crossed my mind (an observation that leads me to believe this book would be good for boys, as well).

I recently re-read the stories, and was delighted. I remember being confused as a girl, since the places, people, and customs are mostly foreign, and so I wouldn't recommend these books to any one younger then six. And even then, with the lack of pictures, it's great for adults to read to kids (no matter what age, within reason). Worth the money.

I bought this book for my son when he was in first grade, at his request, since his teacher had been reading from it. He is now 9 and still enjoys the book. The stories are interesting and readable. The fact that each tale revolves around a strong female is not the most memorable aspect - but the adventures, charecteristics of the protagonists and fun are.

It was not until after reading these stories to my daughter, that I realized that the fairy tales my generation of women had grown up usually had heroines who needed to be rescued. The heroines in Tatterhood solve problems, rescue themselves and sometimes their princes. Hopefully girls will identify with these competent and confident heroines. I don't know many women who can afford to sit around in an ivory tower waiting for a prince to rescue them. These are wonderful, amusing tales from another and equally valid perspective.

I really don't know whatto say,but I suppose everyone says that. I must admit that so many things you've said made me laugh because I knew that you were me with every word. Finding myself alone in a corner asking... no, screaming at God; demanding answers to why he has left me. I find myself answering "of course not" to the question "how are you" all the time and staring in the mirror wondering why people find me so interesting to stare at. What's wrong with me? You managed to bring into words the feelings I could not. Thank you. And thank you for Liz.

It was an incredible experience to read into the world of Marcia Ford. I found myself unable to put it down, thinking, what could possible happen to her next!? She has been through so many hardships, most that she can look at now with a humor that makes life seem easier to live. I myself am still searching for that home that is so frequently spoken of in this book. I learned so much from her life, and thanked God that I didn't have to learn it the hard way like she did. Her strength encouraged me a great deal. The day I finished I let a friend borrow it. It is the kind of story that HAS to be shared because different people will gain differently from it.

Marcia Ford is an authentic child of the '60s, affected by the swirling tempests of Vietnam, flowering drug use and societal disintegration. Yet, she found her way out of this morass of rebellion -- only to discover manipulative forces at work in the church as well. She writes about all this with a verve and an eye for detail that is both humorous and insightful. I think what I liked best about this book was that, in the end, the author maintained her faith instead of the all-too-common: "Life stinks, everyone's a hypocrite and we're all oppressed" infantile musings that pass for philosophy. This book is a page turning delight.

I purchased this book because I can count sereral people I know that have had a loved one or friend that that has an drinking/substance abuse problem...and this book was to better help me understand what not only myself, but others can do when they are in this situation.

You can read this book in one sitting since it if very short, but informational. If you are looking somewhere to start, this is a perfect book! I had never even knew there were such support groups such as Al-Anon & Nar-Anon, which are support groups for the loved ones of substance abusers.

So if you want to help and do not know where to start, pick up this book!

During Family week at the BFC I sat in a lecture conducted by Dr. West. It was during this informal lecture that I came to the reality that I was an alcholic and was just as sick, if not more, than the family member I was there for. The main item in the "Book of Answers" that made me realize this, among other things, is listed on pages 20-21. I failed this test miserably.
I've been clean and sober for 6 years. BFC and Dr. West literally "SAVED MY LIFE". I only pray that many other lives as well as relationships can be saved by simply reading this "Book of Answers". Thank You Dr. West

This book is a compendium of multiple newspaper columns written over several years. In it Dr West shares practical knowledge, insights, and compassion that is rarely seen in medical texts. As a medical oncologist I have occasion to work with many people with varying stages of alcoholism. I have found this book very helpful for practical points of view that are not seen often in medical literature. I recommend this easy to read useful book by this authoritative source to all in the healthcare profession.

In reading the book I found the first half some what hard to get through. I was looking towards getting the info he was to give on investing. The second half of the book was what I was looking for. If you use his discipline in trading you could make alot of money in the market. I would recommended it just to have a base to use in your stock trading methods.

I know the author personally,he gave me my "shot" on Wall St.when I was 18 years old.There are a lot of "empty suits" that have written books on investing,I promise you Morty is not one of them. If you love facts as I do regarding investments...buy this book it will be of value to you.

Larry King's review (on the back cover) said it best, "this is the best book I've ever read on making it big. You're in the hands of a master. Enjoy!"

While most of the stories in Ms. Arielle Ford's book were touching it was not exactly what I expected I always thought soul mate is somebody who is really your other half, someone who fills that void within your heart, that very special person who makes you more whole than you already and with whom you have ties to from past lives and future lives. You share that unbreakable cosmic bond. When you see them there is just divine a spark between you that literally lights up both your worlds and the world becomes a heavenly place. Or then maybe I am just a hopeless romantic.

After reading about the abusive relationships many women get into and listening to the experiences of some friends, I became cynical. Also, we're all bombarded with news about stalking ex-husbands and boyfriends. Not mention the high rate of divorce. Some of the stories remind me of how I met my first love--I had more faith in love's power to heal. Just as my faith and trust that I can find my soulmate has returned, I have discovered that a great number of authors have recently written on the subject of soulmates. Wow, I guess the best is yet to come!

Arielle Ford has compiled a bounty of healing stories...stories that affirm that while we're looking for love (and sometimes even when we're not), love is also looking for us. I have truly savored this book and re-read many of the stories over and over again. It's a fascinating, mystifying and joyous read. If you want to be deeply moved, and if you're looking for your soulmate like I am, then please read this book.
