Great verses, but the illustrations are terrible!
I received this book as a gift, and I just can't bring myself to read to my baby from a book with such sickening, cloying illustrations. Looking at Thomas Kincaid's work makes my skin crawl. Ewwww! I cannot understand how Thomas Kincaid makes a living. Is America's taste in art really that bad??

I am looking for an edition of *A Child's Garden of Verses* that does not feature the "artwork" of Thomas Kincaid.

I had this book (without the illustrations) as a child, and loved it.

Great Gift for Baby Shower
I have given this book to five different mothers at baby showers and they all adore it. I get invited to lots of baby showers and I have decided to always purchase books in the hopes that parents will read to their children. This book has been a favorite hit with everyone. Not everyone likes Thomas Kincade, however, I find his books peaceful in conjunction with these children's verses.

Thomas Kinkade - A Child's Garden of Verses
I love reading the verses to my grandchildren (ages 3-7). They listen attentively, enchanted by every selection. They have quickly learned to recognize most of the authors. My grandchildren in kingergarten and first grade are able to read many of the verses themselves, although they still like Grandma to read to them. Hearing the various rhythms of poetry has been a motivation and inspiration for them to emulate in their oral reading.

It is a fantastic gift for any age child. Great for older children to read to their younger siblings. The vast majority of the book is of interest and most enjoyable for all ages, from the very young to the very old (but young at heart). My children have asked for copies to be given to their children's other grandparents......fantastic book for grandparents to read to their grandchildren.

We have all enjoyed the artwork along with the verses. The assortment of poems, prayers and scripture is excellent. A refreshing, inspiring, memorable, and enjoyable book. It is a true "family" book for reading enjoyment as well as a "coffee table" book!

Too high level - not enough detail
This book's description and title gives the impression that there are detailed procedures illustrated in the book however it is VERY high level with no detail whatsoever. If you're only looking for mod ideas, this book is fine but if you're wanting down and dirty details, go elsewhere.

A good reference for SN95 enthusiasts
This book is the best available on SN95 in addition to Fox Body. I've read Mustang 5.0 Projects and Mustang Performance Handbook, and they very rarely talk about SN95's.

On the other hand, we have this book (How to tune & mondify your Ford Mustang 5.0): your best choice if you are looking for a good guide on what to put on your SN95 (94-95 Mustang GT & Cobra), what are the advantages and disadvantages of popular aftermarket products, mentioned brand names and part numbers.

Again, this is my favorite book of all the 3 Mustang performance books I've purchased. Don't get fooled by other book authors who tell you their books cover 1979 to 1995 Mustangs because they DON'T in fact tell you Anything about 94-95 Mustangs except putting a single photo of SN95 in the preface.

The only 5.0 book you'll ever need!
As a loyal fan to the 5.0 Mustang; I found this book to be highly educational. Steve Turner gives you the facts; what works and what doesn't, for the small and big budgeted 5.0 enthusiast. I read this book four times over in the first three weeks I owned it. This is an excellent book for anybody who loves 5.0 Mustangs; giving you a brief overview of their history before unleashing you to the masses of useful information it holds. I appreciate how it kept the driveway mechanic in mind. It's the type of book that if you put it down it's because you're running to your Stang; wrench in hand! You won't be disappointed.

The title of this book is disgusting
The title of this book is disgusting. It equates a human partner with a piece of property. Your partner is someone you "own." He or she is an object that must be maintained, like your car or your home. Coming from that perspective will create subtle problems in every relationship. It's amazing a title like this could come from a so-called "spiritual" author. One of the central challenges in all authentic spirituality is abandoning the ownership mentality. Stay away from this book if you want real solutions to your relationships. You're much better off with the author's sister(Debbie Ford)'s books. Arielle is way on the shallow side.

The title is perfect!
What a clever play on words, I love that title. The content is brilliant too, full of ageless wisdom and a great sense of love that inspires and heals. True medicine for the soul. I'm very sorry for the reviewer who dislikes the title. He could try counselling.

Not just for New couples
Me and my boyfriend have been together for four and a half years. For his b-day I got a copy of this book for each of us and we swapped. You may think you know everything about your boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife, but you'd be surprised at the things this book includes. It has been so much fun for us and such a pleasure to go through. A great reminder that there's always more to learn.

The Presidency of Gerald R. Ford (American Presidency Series)

Good account of a decent man following an indecent one
Throughout history, no presidential administration needed to be given more benefit of the doubt than that of Gerald Ford. While other administrations had to come into existence as a consequence of death by natural causes or assassination, only Ford had to follow a person who resigned in disgrace. The political atmosphere was forever changed by the actions of Richard Nixon, as the American public no longer took the word of the president on faith. Jimmy Carter, who defeated Ford in the next election, made a simple, effective campaign pledge, "I will never lie to the American people."
However despite all of those problems, the sheer resilience and strength of the American political system was demonstrated, and that is the main theme of the book. Yes, Ford had his faults and probably could not have otherwise gained the presidency, but he is a good man and was the right person for the times. As someone addicted to the political theater, I was mesmerized by Watergate, disgusted with Nixon and sometimes laughed at Ford. And yet, I still liked him, and do so even more now that I have read this book. Given all the political problems, Ford did many things about as well as could be done. His downfall was the one really big mistake that he made, namely the premature pardon of Nixon.
Had he waited longer to issue the pardon, more could have come out, tensions would have been eased and the act would not have been quite so controversial. While I know why he did it, I will never understand why he felt he had to do it so soon. The behaviors of Nixon even as the pardon was being discussed and described in the book are amazing, showing a man who was still contemptuous of the political system. A delayed pardon may have altered that.
Gerald Ford was not a great president in terms of great accomplishments, initiatives or rhetoric. However, he was and is a decent man who was forced to pick up after an indecent one. For that reason he needs to be respected for what he did, helped make the political system work. This description of his presidency is a tribute to that decency and I encourage you to read it and pay a little more attention to him the next time you see him speak. I know I will.

Ford getting his due
Gerald Ford is not the most popular of presidents to write about. He's almost forgotten in studies of America after 1945. This book gives him his due. Profesor Greene does a fine job of examing the important issues that faced Ford, like "stagflation," the Mayaguez incident, and dealing with the Cold War. It's a balanced account and written for scholars and the general reader.

Dispassionate and Thorough
Greene adroitly recognizes that Ford's domestic legislative proposals faced staunch opposition from a Democratically controlled Congress. In foreign affairs, Ford failed to get SALT II ratified and an Egyptian-Israeli accord never materialized during his term. In addition, the author acknowledges that Ford used assertiveness in the Mayaguez incident. Furthermore, Greene avers that Ford received bad publicity from the press. Finally, Greene argues that Ford did not make a secret bargain with Nixon for a Presidential pardon. This book gives a balanced account about a much maligned President.

Loved It!
Ford Tramps is bound to bring out the wanderlust in everyone. Part travel log, part history lesson, part personal journal from a time gone by. In some ways, little has changed in the freedom that a good roadtrip offers, in some ways everything has.

A fascinating look at a bygone era!
I thoroughly enjoyed "Ford Tramps." It's a charming and inspiring look at America in the 1920's, written in a breezy and unpretentious style. Anyone with an interest in early 20th century America or vintage automobiles will LOVE this book. But be careful! My father-in-law was so inspired by "Ford Tramps," he now considering purchasing and restoring a Model T!

Loved It!
As a grandson of the author, I thought I should abstain from adding my applause since objectivity would be a big question mark. But after hearing what some of my friends had to say, I became convinced that my enjoyment of Ford Tramps was more than just personal. When Mr. Swanson surprised the family with the news of his book project (begun at the age of 90), I packed up the family and headed for the Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. If my wife will let me, our next car will be a Model T.

P.S. Thanks Gramps for sharing this great story with the world! Is there a sequel in progress?

Excellent book covering Windsors, Clevelands, FE's, & Limas
If you are building one of the above engines for the first time this is a must have book that teaches you the basic tricks you need. Another reviewer unfairly blamed the book for not covering the new 4.6L engines. It only says on the cover exactly what engines are covered, duh! So, ignore his comments and buy Too Tall Ganahl's book with confidence. The only thing I would have liked to have seen are a casting number list, otherwise an outstanding book.

Lot's of info on FE blocks (seems hard to find)
If you own an FE block engine (390-428 cid), this book is useful. I have found it difficult to find anything on my '65 model 390 and it tells you everything you want to know. The techniques and part #s might be outdated (as one guy says), but the history of the FE and all other "modern" pushrod blue ovals is not. I thought it was worth the 15 bones I paid.

For those who can read
I read the book, many times. One must remember all things start in some type of begining, as this book does. No matter if you are working on a 1954 Ford or a late model 5.0 all things in the bottom end are the pretty much the same. For those that worry about aluminum heads, well, why are GT-40's from Ford cast iron?
I have been racing since 1967 and I find the book informative to say the least. Besides I do not need aluminum heads when I get better performance from cast iron and do not have to worry about an aluminum head blowing out in a water jacket with it skimpy .053 thick division.
Want to build a Ford buy the book! or listen to some and dump a bunch of bucks and end up getting the book anyway.

The Ford Y-Block: How to Repair and Rebuild the 1954-62 Ford Ohv V-8
Published in Paperback by Motorbooks International (August, 1990)
Author: James Eickman

Ford Y-Block
Heavy in history, light on useful technical details. This book does little to fill in the details of Y-Block information. Missing are things like engine casting codes. Also missing is something usually included in these types of engine-specific books; performance tuning tips. This book is a must-have but only because nothing else is available.

Used it thoroughly, liked it, but found some problems
I just finished a complete teardown and rebuild of my 292 Y-block engine. This book was at my side through the entire process. The author does a good job of explaining *most* of what's going on.

However... Upon completion of my project, I discovered an egregious error in the book that caused me to make a costly mistake. The illustration showing the timing mark alignment showed the marks aligned facing the wrong side of the engine! The marks need to be 12 chain links apart facing the LEFT (oil filter) side of the engine. The original factory manual explains this, but Eickman does not. His book shows them incorrectly facing the right-hand side and makes no mention of which side is correct. Because of that error, I had to tear the front of the engine apart after it was assembled, and align the marks using the factory shop manual's illustration.

Some of the book's other illustrations are out of sequence, but they don't pose a problem like the timing mark illustration did. The author's overall attention to detail seems to diminish toward the end of the book. In addition, the book makes no mention of the 1963-64 Y-block engines used in Ford trucks.

If you are going to rebuild a Y-block engine, I'd say you should definitely buy this book - but verify the details against factory procedures whenever possible.

review for Y Block Ford text
For those interested in the Ford Y block this text is very helpful, depending upon your level of knowledge (or expertise). It is a combination of the motor history and some technical information regarding engine parts and casting codes.
I find this book interesting and helpful for two reasons. First, this book seems to be in a class of its own. Perhaps that is because many people are not familiar with this engine series relative to the 302, 351, 427, etc. Second, I do not know of any other books compiling general information comparable to this one. You could gather the information in the book from several different types of shop manuals, etc. but it would be difficult.
If you are an experienced Y block person, you may already know much of the information, but even after a long time with these motors, I still found some new information. Of course, for price you really can't go wrong.

Where's the Cleveland?
Unfortunately, you only find out this book does not cover the 351 Cleveland until you read it and the author clearly states "If your engine is a Cleveland, buy another book." That's not 'all' small block Ford engines (as the cover states) then, is it? Alright for everything else though.

How to Rebuild Small-Block Ford Engines
I found How to Rebuild Small-Block Ford Engines to be a very informative book. This book goes over almost everything envolved in rebuilding all Ford small-block V-8 engines from the 221 to the 351W, including parts that interchange with other small-block Fords and tuning up your freshly rebuilt engine.
Soon, I will begin to rebuild the engine in my '89 Mustang. The 302 small-block under the hood has definitely seen better days. It is down on power and it smokes. Now that I have read this book I have a much clearer understanding of what makes my engine do this and now I know how to fix it.
This book answered many questions I have been trying to answer since I first became interested in motors, such as, what parts should I buy for the rebuild?, what tools do I need to install them?, what machine processes should I have done?, and most importantly, do I even need a rebuild?
This book does a great job of explaning a rebuild but I was kind of bummed that it didn't have much information on performance engine builds. The book did make reference to the 289HP and the Boss and Cleveland engines but it didn't include information like how to port your cylinder heads, or how to pick a high performance camshaft. I would have liked the book to have mentioned something about how to increase the crankshaft stoke also.
This book is a bit old being written in the late '70s. It doesn't include information about the hydraulic roller cam engines or electronic fuel injection. The information in this book is still very useful despite not being current though. I personally recommend this book to anyone who is intending to do a small-block Ford rebuild or anyone who just enjoys learning about cars.

I built a 351W with this book!
I built a 351W from a long block kit with the help of this book. And the engine ran the first time!

The book points out many of the little parts that you need but which are not advertised in catalogs or magazines. Some parts guys at the local Ford dealership did not even know what some of the parts were. But you need them, all the same.

Advantage Blackjack

80% Win Rate!
This book introduces a really good winning system that anyone can use.

There are many blackjack books out there. Nearly every one of them advocates using a card counting system. For many years blackjack authors have attempted to create more sophisticated counting systems. The result is that most of these systems are almost impossible to use under real casino conditions.

Advantage Blackjack introduces a highly simplified count, which anyone can use. In addition, the author demonstrates a practical progressive betting system that works very well.

I have been using this strategy for several months with excellent results. I have been winning close to 80% of my sessions, which I could never do with other counting systems.

The Advantage Strategy will not satisfy blackjack theoreticians. But trust me, it really works. Forget the complex counting strategies and try this one. You'll be glad you did!

Want to win $1,000 a day?
There is no doubt you can win at blackjack using this strategy. It is just outstanding.

The author uses a much simplified card count system to identify favorable betting situations. This is by far the easiest and most effective count I have ever seen. But the strategy goes much further than simply introducing another card counting system.

The author, Roger Ford, reveals a dynamic betting strategy that will put you way over the top at blackjack. Combined with his simplified card count, it produces the most consistent winnings I have ever seen at blackjack.

I have been using the Advantage Blackjack strategy and racking up win after win. My win rate is just phenomenal and my losses have been very low. If you want to win consistently, even against the monster Atlantic City eight decks, you must use this strategy.

Incredible book!
I found this book to be one of most helpful I have ever read on how to really win at blackjack. If you are looking for a book with page after page of charts you are supposed to memorize, then you won't like this book.

The author presents a powerful simplified count strategy that I learned in less than a week. Other systems require months and months of practice.

In addition to the easy-to-learn count, I really appreciated the betting strategy. Most blackjack authors only concern themselves with the spread, i.e. varying your bets from one to four units or even ten units. The author, Roger Ford, explains that counting and using a conventional betting spread will get labeled as a "card counter" allowing the casino to barr you at the worst, or deal you a miserable game at best. The Advantage Betting Strategy is virtually unrecognizable to casino pit personnel and using it will give you the best chance of winning.

If you want lots of theory, read a different book. If you want to learn how to really win, try this one. I strongly urge those who want to gain the upper hand at blackjack tables to read this book.

P.S. On my first trip out trying this system, I won over $500. Not a lot, but I can see the potential.

How to Restore a Ford Pickup
Need better description of contents of book.

I have a 1931 Ford pickup that has been partially restored. I would like more technical information on further restoration, repairs and maintenance.

From: allenrawl@earthlink.net

Perfect companion for restoring your Ford Truck
Very good detail and lots of great original information. Very good how to for restoring any classic Ford truck. One of the best I've seen for restoring my trucks (46's & 47)and any other old Ford truck.

How to Restore Your Ford Pickup
Before starting a rebuild of my '51 Ford pickup, I accumulated as many manuals and other written materials as I could. Brownell's book helped me to understand the crucial difference between a restoration and a rebuild, and to plan my work accordingly. I'm sure that the job will take longer and cost more than I'd hoped, but I'm equally sure I'll be happy with the end result, due in large part to the wisdom imparted by this book...
