Fi MacIntyre Should Be Ashamed!!
The ideas are interesting and the routines are helpful. I was aghast at the number of typographical errors in this book. So many that by page 4 I had out a pencil to circle each one. There are about 350 errors of spelling and formatting and all manner of nightmarish mistakes. I never mind a few...but geez. There was NO EDITING of this book----or somehow I was sold a proof, which I almost hope as Ms. Ford's ideas are terribly clouded by all the inconsistent writing. ( including timing errors in the routines!) Unforgivable! Had I not read consistent glowing reviews of the ideas within this book, I'd have tossed it in the garbage!!!!!

It should be called "contented little parents"
Gina Ford shares her expertise in a non thretening, non coercive and highly intelligent manner. She gives you schedules for rasing a baby that will sleep 7pm-7am from three months (or less), and will eat everything put in front of them and drink from a cup by one year. Eating and sleeping being the primary issues from birth to one year, this book goes straight to the heart of what matters to new parents. There's no patronizing comments, telling you how to play with a child, no sending us to therapy to work out our issues if you can't bond, no making you feel inadequate. Gina Ford helps everyone feel like there's a few generations of knoweldgable women standing around helping you get through the first year. It is an essential read for modern parents - mothers who need their baby to sleep through the night by three months so they can go back to work; modern mothers who want their babies to eat well and healthly; modern mothers who are often isolated from family or others and need a direct and competent voice.
It's totally empowering way to give you control of what feels like an out-of-control situtation. Its easy to read and easy to follow. When things don't go to plan one day, start afresh the next. By helping you take control of eating and sleeping patterns, you're free to work out your own ways to love, sing, play and generally be with your 'contented little baby'.

Haynes Ford Taurus/ Sable 1996-2001
For a beginner in auto mechanics, I found this book very helpful with it's lists of tools, photos and labels of parts. However, my biggest complaint about the book itself is the year models it represents. On the Taurus, for example, the body design changed in 2000, and you can no longer change your own rear turn signal light bulb, the manufacturer has it sealed off with access panels and silicone. This simple process/ repair has to be taken into a dealer to be repaired. This is something the book does not mention because it is talking about 1999 or previous body models. It would just be helpful if the book information represented the exact model years, so there's no confusion. Thanks. -S.L.

Very good instruction of where and how to check
I have read Clinton's book before that shows only pix and how to disassemble. So I haven't exepect much. ( You may read some review on that book. ) However this book explains which part and how to check it. For instancem using multimeter( voltage ). So the reader may find where is the problem by himself. I have read only part of this book ( where my car has problem ) , I am sure this will help a lot. I strongly recommend to the person who want to find the problem and repair it by himself.

Good, not great
This book could be considered an alternative to Volume One of "The Dust and the Glory" for readers who aren't interested in flathead-era Ford racing. There is really interesting coverage of the Sixties Indy engine program. A few of the photos are the same as "The Dust and the Glory," and a couple of the paragraphs read like direct lifts from it. There are some factual errors with contextual, non-Ford information (e.g., implying that Mark Donohue raced in the Indy 500 in 1968), but the primary information about the Ford racing program seems sound.

Fords always WIN!
I bought this book because I love anything to do with Fords made in the 60's, and especially the racing history. This book goes into depth on every aspect of racing of that era in great detail. If you are a serious Ford fan, or a serious race fan, then this book is for you.

Green Fairy Book

The 3rd in Andrew Lang's colored fairy book series
The Green Fairy Book has stories from Spanish and Chinese traditions and a few written by the Comte de Caylus. Also stories by Sebillot, Fenelon, Kletke, Mme. de'Aulnoy, and the Brothers Grimm. Includes The Bue Bird, Sylvain and Jocos, Prince Narcissus and the Princess Potentilla, The Three Little Pigs, and The Half-Chick. 42 stories.

Excellent collection of wonder tales
Andrew Lang's colored fairy books are justifiably famous, and this (along with "The Red Fairy Book") is one of the best of the series. As in all the volumes, the prose is clear and swift, moving the tales along. Since this was the third book in the series, he was not yet scraping the barrels of world fairy tales for the leavings; contrariwise, however, the first volume (Blue) has all of Ye Olde Stand-byes, while this and Red have tales just as wonderful that are less well known.

Despite Lang's flaws -- most notably, his heroines have a way of turning passive -- there are far worse ways to introduce a child to the spirit of wonder tales than this volume.

Post-Apocalypse Role-Playing
GURPS Y2K seems poised to be a good sourcebook for post-apocalyptic role-playing. Don't be put off by the name - this book contains much more than just the millennium bug.

Starting with a chapter on Y2K (which we know on 20-20 hindsight never became the calamity that some were predicting), there are ideas in this book for everything from a complete world-wide computer shutdown, to "Mad Max" type worlds, and even the biblical "Judgement Day", along with several others. There's also a section on a super-hero world suffering from post-apocalypse blues.

The "sidebars" (sections of the book along the sides of each page) contain even more material that can be used to put your game world in a state of chaos. Some of these sidebars beg to be put into whole worlds of their own.

But the book suffers slightly when it reads a little like a collection of articles about post-apocalypse scenarios in gaming, rather than a single world presented in RPG terms. The =nine= authors each contributed a section or two to this book, and only the excellent effort by Sean Punch to put it all together under one roof keeps this book from being merely a collection of unrelated after Armageddon articles.

I'd still recommend this book for people wanting to see what their campaign world would look like after a major catastrophe, or for people wanting to explore what happens after.

Pretty good
Well, overall the book was pretty well made. It touched upon many of the common topics and settings for a post holocaust envirnoment including everything from minor computer glitches to the Biblical apacalypse and "Mad Max" and "The Postman" type situations. Even alien invasion was discussed in the essays. All seven authors of the book provided well written source matterial. Y2k also gives information on realistic rioting and anarchy.

There was one point I did not like about the book though. It would make many references to other GURPS source books, some of which were out of print, for more material on a subject. I feel that some of the writing was judt put in a advertisements and "plug" for other books.

Personally, I wish they had touched more on the "Mad Max," "Postman," and "Fallout" (a post-apacalyptic computer game) scenarios, but I do realize that the book was created for post Y2K campaigns and that everyone does not like what I like.

Overall, though, the book provides good post distaster material.

Henry Ford: Young Man with Ideas
I liked the book, but I wish they had more dates than just when he was born. It would have been fun to know how old he was when he did or invented certain things. I think I am like him because I like to find ways to make work easier.

This book is ok but, I would like more detail though.
I would like more detail like on how he was born and when he died. I like this book because it talked about all his jobs and what he made and when he made it.

Ita's Life
It is difficult to try and write about someone ten plus years after the person has passed away.

In this book we have the life of a saintly person who gave up her status in the community and a budding secular professional career to devote full time to the service of the poor.

The book takes into account Sis. Fords's life ....and does it in a straight forward non emotional leaning manner. If Prof. Z. had more data, to work with,at the time...I am sure she would have a book double the size. AS I now understand, the professor is presently working on another book on the subject.

The question 'why did she (I.F.) believe so strongly in helping the poor' that she gave up her life in their service. I knew Sis. Ford, briefly while in college, and can atest to the accuracy of the data presented.

Recommended for anyone who would like to be inspired by a down to earth soul who truly believed in the goodness of man...and ultimately, paid the servere price for these beliefs.

Good starting point for postmodern ministry
This was the first book I read about postmodern ministry. As such, it was very useful. It is simple and pretty accurate in its descriptions. I would recommend it to someone with little knowledge about postmodernism and postmodern ministry. If you already have experience in the field and knowledge of the generation, then don't waste your time. You already know the stuff here. I would move on to Leonard Sweet's books. This book is good, just not too meaty. Accept what it is and use it accordingly.

good summary for those too lazy to talk to real people
Unlike most writers on the subject of "GenXers" and their (our) relationship to God and the church, Kevin Ford refrains from the condescending tone that characterizes so many books on the subject. He even suggests (gasp!) that some of the perspectives and strengths of this generation may have something to offer the church. Although the extensive narrative in each chapter was probably intended to illustrate one of Ford's points -- that personal narrative is the medium which will be most effective in communicating with Xer's -- I found the stories, particularly the dialogue, rather artificial at points. While it is important to remember that this is a generation that has had its share of neglect and abuse, resulting in subsequent dysfunctions of our own, we don't want ministry "to" us that doesn't also call us to ministry for others. We know the world is a messed-up place, and that we share in those faults. Give us hope. Give us a place and a purpose, and all the statistics will fade in contrast to remarkable narratives of our own

Nothing new
Thic book is adequate for emergency medical information, but is not a good quick reference in the midst of a true emergency. In most things, it is quite lacking, and other emergency "handbooks" seem to be more user and cost-friendly. Although this book is part of my library, I found little use for it when I worked as an emergency small animal veterinarian.

Great for technicians
This book has been a big help for me in my practice
