Somebody ACTUALLY published this. . .
I just have to strengthen the views of others--don't waste your time with this book! Any first-year writing student could do much better. Each paragraph reads something like this:

"What about that drug?" she asked.
"I told you, let me take care of it!" he snapped. She was confused by his reaction. Did he know something she didn't? Probably he was just tired. But was there something he wasn't telling her? He had so many patients, he was probably just worn out. But why would he snap at her? Didn't he understand how important this was? Was there something he was hiding? Why was he acting like this? She was so confused, but maybe he was just preoccupied. But what was really going on?

I don't need my hand held, and neither do most readers. Let us think on our own. I only read this through to the end because I wanted to see how it would wrap up. It was time I could have spent with a more worthy author.

The Protocol
Steven Ford, is one of the worst authors I have ever read. Makes me wonder how such a terrible writer gets published. I'm taking time to write this review to perhaps save others from the awful experience of reading The Protocol. The book doesn't even deserve one star, but I had no choice. I hope Mr. Ford (Kip Langello) has found some other type of creative outlet.

Would make a fine movie.
An interesting and fast paced book, the writing is plain, but the story is complex enough to not allow you to put the book down unfinished. There are a couple really genuine surprises that I did not expect. As a medical student, I found the story itself to be highly far-fetched, but at times the medical accuracy was dead-on. This book does what it set out to do, and I think that anyone with a mind for "MEDICAL CONSPIRACY THERORY" would enjoy this read.

Tis Pity She's a Whore
I was reluctant to pick up this book because of it's title, but I decided to read it because I had it in my collection. I was somewhat entertained, and finished the book very quickly due to the short length. It is a tragedy in which almost all are killed in the end. I did not care much for the plot, which involves an incestuous relationship between brother and sister. After reading part of the book, it was rather easy to predict the ending. It is not a tremendously detailed and emotional story. I'm not sure if this is a title that would often come up in conversations between friends or colleagues, but avid readers might want to pick up the title to have read it.

"Tis a pity alright.."
This play is an excellent example of incest in the Renaissance. It's also fairly short and very readable. Bergetto is an interesting character and provides much needed comic relief in this play which is ultimately quite tragic. The title is misleading in many ways, but female sexuality is problematic throughout.

Good but not great
I chose to read this play because firstly, Anthony Burgess mentioned it in his book "English Literature" (1857) and secondly, because it was a short play. Or maybe even thirdly - the central theme [incest] it deals with is treated in an entirely different manner from other literary works. The nature of the incest is frank and horrifying. The intensity of the unlawful relationship is compromised by the coarsening of Giovanni's love for Annabella; their ethereal relationship gradually loses its innocence in the course of the play, culminating in Annabella's pregnancy and finally her death in Giovanni's hands.

While we certainly cannot put Ford in the ranks of Shakespeare, he deserves credit for a play whose themes of sexual jealousy, revenge, violence and incent intertwine in a most heartrending way.

Best Motorcycle Investments: A Rider's and Investor's Guide to Antique, Classic and Used Motorcycles; A 20/20 View Through 2020 A.D.

Disappointing
I found this book very disappointing. I can't believe that the so-called reviewers actually read the book, because if they did, they couldn't have rated it this high. It is disjointed, poorly organized, and makes very little sense. I found it hard to understand exactly what this guy thought was a good investment. He also ignored many of the obviously collectible bikes that are out there now-- H2 Kawasakis, Sand-cast 750 Hondas, the Italian lightweights of the 50s and 60s, etc. I was not all that impressed with the author's knowledge of bikes or their values whatsoever. Beyond that, the writing and copy editing on this thing was beyond amateur. My 12 year-old knows more about sentence structure and punctuation!

Best Motorcycle Investments is a good investment.
Taylor Ford's book is a great primer for someone who is looking to get into collecting motorcycles. It gives you many good ideas on bikes that are likely to appreciate and gives you some idea what to pay. However, the real strength of the book is that Mr Ford makes some attempt to forecast what types of bikes will be in demand by collectors in the next 20 years. Whether his predictions actually come true is less important than the focus that it gives you in directing your collecting toward models which are easily available today that may be come tomorrow's hot item. This is a useful book for the serious collector, and even more so for someone who wants to become one.

Less than zero
Chilton's is only useful until you have to physically do something.
I needed an electrical schematic at best. Some info at worst. This book supplied neither.
The first half of the electrical section was "replacing the heater core".
Stupid me. I've been burnt before by Chilton's but when your in a bind I guess you'll try anything.

Very Helpfull Book
The Book was very usefull, and easy to follow. It had a very thourough description of all vehicle components.

Ford Ranger & Mazda Pick-Ups Automotive Repair Manual: 1993 Thru 1997 (Haynes Automotive Repair Manual)

Inaccurate
The first need I had for information from my Haynes Ford Ranger manual was to locate a fuse in my 1999 Ranger XLT. The fuse diagram is wrong. No corrections are available at the Haynes website.

More of a question than a review
I'm thinking about buying this book because I own a 2000 Ford Ranger, code-named J97, built in Thailand for sale throughout the world except North America.
Could it be that Mr Gow found the manual inaccurate because the US Ranger is a totally different vehicle from the Mazda-based Ranger that the rest of us use?

Chilton does it again - Don't waste your money
As usual Chilton has produced another manual that is useless to anyone who wants to do much more than check the tire air pressure. All repairs that require a slight bit of mechanical ability are not described and instead the reader is advised to take the car to the dealer. Don't bother buying this book. Read the owner's manual that came with the car instead.

A Decent Book, With Some Limitations
Chilton books have been part of my automotive coping strategy for years- one of their publications once even helped me find out where a bad repair from my mechanic went off track, and I was able to give the mechanic enough info to get the repair re-done correctly. This book seems to be okay, with one exception that is usual to Chilton guides. There is not NEARLY enough information on dismantling soft trim and dash components, and what there is does not cover the different configurations you're likely to find. For instance, this guide shows how the centre console goes together- but only the extra-cost version with the stick shift in it. The standard console- found in most Tauruses- is not shown at all. Since many owners confine their do-it-yourself efforts to fixing soft trim glitches and replacing light bulbs, this is a considerable lack in Chilton's efforts. Recommended, nontheless- there's very good info on what's under the hood, and it's very specific concerning what CAN be repaired and what is factory-set, and therefore not to be messed with. That's invaluable info on today's highly computerised cars.

Weak, Rehashed History of the Sherman
If you need an illustrated history of the Sherman Tank, and have absolutely no other resources at hand, this book is possibly better than nothing. However, it is full of generalizations and some outright errors, and the whole thing seems to have been thrown together rather quickly. A far better choice would be any of Steven J. Zaloga's books published by Osprey and Concord or either Squadron-Signal publication ("Sherman in Action" or "Sherman Walkaround"). Best of all is Richard Hunnicutt's enormous work "Sherman: A History of the American Medium Tank" (though many would balk at the price, it is by far the best work available, with thousands of photos and multiview 1:48th scale drawings by D.P. Dyer of every Sherman subtype).

The Sherman Tank
This book tells the story of the American made Sherman Tank. It begins with the early influences that lead up to the development and manufacture of the tank. Subsequent chapters cover the Sherman in action, variants of the tank such as self propelled artillery and a fairly complete history up to its post war use by Isreal. The photos and graphics are good. The author has done a good job of covering the subject without getting bogged down in the myriad of details of this vast subject. For most military enthusiasts this book should enough detail to provide a complete understanding of the tank.

I'd recommend this book for a reader looking for a solid, well balanced history of the Sherman Tank.

haynes manuals
Haynes manuals are for amatures; the majority of info that is needed is not given. Instead, you are referred to your repair shop, this is NOT why you would buy the book. I also misunderstood in thinking this book covered a Ford A4OD trans.

Great for older Fords
In its prime, this was probably a good manual. However, time marches on and this manual has not kept pace. The newer Ford automatics from the early 90's on are not covered. If you want info for earlier models, this would be a good reference, otherwise, you'll likely be disappointed.

101 ESL activities that are not bright nor for all ages
101 Bright Ideas: ESL Activities For All Ages does not have many activities that would be beneficial to a student of English as a second or foreign language hoping to improve her language skills. Far too many of the suggestions deal only with letter or word games requiring little or no communication. Perhaps one or two, such as categorization or association, may be useful for vocabulary building, but I felt that many others lacked any obvious pedagogical purpose. Activities that could be classed as communicative were a perplexing mixture of either boring and easy, or interesting but too difficult without considerable language support from the teacher. Some suggestions entailed bribing students with fake money in order to get them to participate, a ruse that will wear thin if the activity is not worthwhile. Others, based on TV game shows, looked fun, but perhaps teachers will already be familiar with most of these anyway.
Although I liked the organization and simple layout of the book, some activities were also no more than simple layouts, such as calendars or blank Valentine cards that students were expected to complete. When language was presented, it was not always satisfactory. For example, "Who is the bald Irish female singer?" "Where do the pygmies live?" and "Who is the best basketball player in the NBA?" were suggestions, with answers, for a "mega quiz".
If you are an EFL or ESL teacher interested in developing your students' communication skills or language proficiency, and want them to engage in critical and purposeful language learning, then I cannot recommend this book.

not all that useful for teaching esl abroad
the author of this book has "compiled" the information from esl monitors in classrooms teaching esl in canada, as well as from other esl teachers. she also mentions that some of the ideas came to her through contemplation. this is all well and good, and the ideas presented may have applications in esl classrooms for students immersed in the language by living in an english speaking country. but, i disagree with the reviewer who recommends it for anyone planning to teach esl abroad.

while i appreciate the format, and the time spent by the "compiler" in presenting the infromation in an easy-to-read format, i don't agree with the level of difficulty she has attached to the various ideas. most of the beginning-level ideas are too advanced for true beginners (at least from the perspective of learning english in your mother country). the intermediate-level ideas have the same flaw. they're just too difficult to be placed in that category. the book is certainly well-intentioned, but i suspect that the compiler doesn't have much experience (if any) in teaching esl abroad. and, if she does, i doubt she's actually (successfully) used most of these ideas.

A must-have for ESL teachers!
As an ESL teacher in Japan, I would definately recommend 101 Bright Ideas to any teacher who is running out of ideas for an ESL class or is looking for a quick and easy way to plan lessons. The book is divided into levels and includes photcopiable pages and teaching instructions. Most of the ideas I found were up-to-date and unique (which is very uncommon for most ESL idea books)and the price was right up my alley (books like this can cost 50 to 100 dollars in Japan). My advice: don't hesitate to buy this book if you are going to a forieghn country to teach!
