Not bad until you get into the rarer models then a disaster.
This book is fantastic - until you get to the rarer models. All I can think is that Mr. Schild just didn't want to take the time to do the research, as there are a lot of errors, urban legends, and misconceptions which are obvious to any owner of those cars. Case in point: there are only 2 1930 Town Cars known to exist. There are way more than that. Another: Lombard blue could be used on a 1931 Deluxe Phaeton, READ THE JUDGING STANDARDS (from MARC/MAFCA). Another example would be that the side curtains for the Deluxe Phaeton were stowed in a compartment underneath the rear floor... NO - they are stored behind the rear seat. So, if you're only looking at the common, basic Model A's get the book. IF you want to know about the rarer ones, then DO NOT TOUCH IT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. You're better off with the Judging Standards - as incomplete and badly written they may be in places. I own original examples of three of the cars - 180-A, 400-A, and Town Car he has gotten wrong.

Paul Revere: Rider for the Revolution (Historical American Biographies)
Published in Library Binding by Enslow Publishers, Inc. (May, 1997)
Author: Barbara Ford
Amazon base price: $20.95
Used price: $9.99

History is fascinating, this book is not.
I ordered this book for my son as he had a book report due on an historical biography. My son is a very reluctant reader and as it was rather lengthy, I offered to read some pages and he could read some pages aloud to me. History is a fascinating subject, but Barbara Ford has reduced Paul Revere's life and contribution to so tedious an excercise, I couldn't even stay interested. The book has too many characters and it is difficult to remember who they are and what they did. Ford uses terms such as "whig" and "tories" and "regulars", without much explanation as to what those terms mean. In chapter six, Ford says, "As Revere helped carry John Hancock's trunk away from the tavern, he heard the first shot of the American Revolution". She doesn't indicate here why Revere secured John Hancock's trunk, what was in the trunk, or why that was important. She does go on to say that the trunk survived and is currently on display at the Worcester Historical Museum in Massachusettes. So? What was in the trunk? There is no definitive timeline, except in the chronology at the end of the book. There is no sense of the drama of being a country at war. The characters have no personalities. The battles have no interest. The book makes no effort to engage the young reader at any level.

Warm fuzzies and generalities
One day I might want to start a business, and I wanted to get a feel of what to do. This book, however, did not provide it.

This book mainly deals with generalities, and is more a definition of common sense than of how to start a business. Instead of concentrating on specifics, what forms to use, the amount of time to set it up, the cost, etc. It gives a very general, almost a "duh", feel to it.

It's a small book, but the amount useful information presented is even smaller.

Misleading - but useful.
When I saw the publisher's comment "Before the curtain rises ...careful attention to planning, budgeting and scheduling must be overseen" I thought I had found a book that would help me in my task of setting up a budget and developing a stratigic or at least a single project plan for a new theater company. Wrong. While there are useful forms for scheduling certain tasks as well as some accounting forms, neither the Index or the Table of Contents mention planning or budgeting. This book seems to assume that planning and budgeting have already taken place. For this reason, I was rather disappointed in the content and felt misled by the publisher's comment.

Having said the above, however, I do believe the forms are well put together and will save the weeks of work it would take to design them, and even more time lost if they were not available. This book is really about day-to-day operations and not about the broader tasks of management. I believe if the book had been titled "Theater Office Forms and Guidelines" or "The Administration of Theater Operations", I would still have purchased it and would not have been disappointed in the content.

Not very helpful
Doesn't add anything new to the world of manners. If you care enough about manners to want to read a book on it, you probably already know everything in this book

Don't waste your money
Unless you are a total jerk, you probably already know 90% of what is written in this book. Of course, most jerks aren't interested in reading about etiquitte, so this book is rather pointless. For me it was mostly common sense. There were a few good tips, but I wouldn't recommend buying the book.

Bad guides to manners are worse than having no money
There are no shortcuts to etiquette. This book is proof. It is more like an undeited magazine article than a comprehensive guide to modern civility.

Wait, this is an overhaul manual?
This is an overhaul manual? I could have sworn it read like the Sunday comics with its pictures and captions. There is hardly enough beef in this book to help anyone rebuild an engine. Maybe if you had a NASCAR crew chief with 30 years of experience on your side you'd be able to rebuild an engine with this guide, but otherwise it's useless. At least I borrowed the book from a library and didn't waste my money. There's not enough detail, not enough clarity, and the instructions are vague. It spends like the first 5 chapters discussing how to use a micrometer and know how to build your own workbench. If I wanted to build a garage - I'll get my dad to help or a Bob Vila book, thank you very much.

This manual is vague and incomplete.
I suppose this book is fine for those people who aren't going to attempt to do more than change the oil or maybe replace the brake shoes. I've found that anything more than that is either skipped over or mentioned only in passing. For example, the section on installing the intake manifold consists only of a picture of the manifold. The fault diagnosis sections aren't terribly helpful either. A few possibilities per symptom are listed, but they are very vague, for example, "mechanical damage." Occasionally you will find a helpful bit of information, but for the most part this book is a waste of money.

Limited Electrical
The book barely mentioned the trip/mileage computer much less what to do to troubleshoot, remove and replace or what else might cause a blank screen. I was very disappointed that even the wiring diagrams showed nothing concerning this unit. Also to try and track down the circuit involved the book gave no help on basics such as the fuses involved.

Waste of Money
The manual covers too many vehicles in general with little detail for specifics. It's difficult to find what your looking for. If you need a manual, try the dealer. I've had bad luck with Chilton in the past, I should have known.

Easy does it...
I recently purchased a 1997 Expedition, but couldn't find the owners manual. I ordered this book with hopes of clarifying some basic information. I think this book has quite a bit of data, but it is hard to read, index, and otherwise unfriendly. For example, the fuse box section does not tell you which fuses relate to which piece of equipment, making troubleshooting tough. The section on sizes and capacities is so small and marked with footnotes, I still don't know what size fuel tank I have. Also, too many models covered in this manual that aren't important to me, and too few pictures. I'm gonna try the Haynes version.

92 ford escort gt
Even though the cover says all models, there is very little information on the gt models. The info that is in the book is incorrect. All of the info that I have gottten from the book has been wrong and set me further back. I simple task I tried to accomplish was a tranny fluid change. The book claims that the only way to drain the tranny is to remove it from the car and turn it upside down. Wrong, there is a big drain plug on the bottom. Second, if you remove the stated plug to fill the tranny, parts will come undone inside. Finally once you do find out how to get the oil in, the quantity mentioned is dangerously low. Save your money.

Much too vague
I'm sorry I bought this book. I was having trouble with the transmission and the electric cooling fan. Absolutely nothing on it.

It did n't help me a beginner..
It did n't help me a beginner.. I bought this book hoping to help me locate ignition key harness, power lock switch, etc to do a "Remote start Key-less entry system" install project. It end up wasting time and money. I end up opening-up lot of unnecessary places..

Poor - covers mostly V6 engine
I have a 1987 4 cyl manual Taurus and do most maintenance and repairs myself. The book covers little of the 4 cylinder engine model, except the engine itself and there are many differences. When anything is out of the ordinary they "refer to your dealer"!! What is the use of a repair manual then?. People who buy such manuals usaually want to do more than just change light bulbs... and even at that, the electrical circuits are poorly covered.

What a botch!
This Haynes manual is the worst I have ever read. I have manuals for A cars, J cars, Mustang, and the Dodge Dakota. None fails as much as this one for the Taurus. I have attempted two repairs, and both proceedures were incorrect, misleading , or incomplete. One was for the drive axles. It was not necessary to have the pullers or the pushers to seat and unseat the drive axles in the hub. The repair proceedure of the heater core was even worse. Instuctions are vague. " Take off the instrument pannel". We had to go get information from Chiltons, as what is in Haynes is so poor. One would think with so many Tauruses on the road, these inaccuracies would have been brought to the attention of the Haynes people. The index is worthless ( too skimpy) . And they keep selling me the same chapters in every book , which keeps their costs low, and profits high.

Not worth your time
... It's terrible. The photos show lots of incorrectly restored junk from overseas, and the text is simply atrocious. The author obviously knows nothing about the subject because this book is factually inaccurate in many respects. The only redeeming quality I can find in this book are a few nice factory photos - but you can find those in other, higher quality books. Don't waste your time on this one!

Worthless
I have been a Thunderbird owner for 30 years. This book is by far the worst, poorly written and technically uncorrect piece of junk I have ever seen on the Early Birds
