Ford Bronco 1966-1977

Worth a look
Anyone with even a casual interest in the early Ford Broncos will find this book worthwhile. It includes many of the early magazine reviews on the truck, as well as several later ones. The articles hit on each year, which provides a good overview of the Bronco as it changed to fit the times. Plenty of technical information can be found here, including options, engines, specifications, etc. It's not a restoration manual, but rather a historical look back at one of the great SUVs of the 20th century. Check it out!

Excellent info for Early Bronco lovers
As any Early Bronco lover knows, it can be difficult to find information on the vehicle. The 4x4 Performance Portfolio is a compilation of articles and advertisements from various automotive publications. Most were written during the production of the '66-'77 Bronco and are a window into the past. My only complaints are few. First, some of the articles are incomplete; they have been cut off literaly in mid-sentence, leaving you wondering what happened. The book's page numbers continue without interruption, so it must have been a publishing oversight. Secondly, the book is entirely in black and white, save for the cover art. Some color photos from the later articles would be a nice touch. Overall, this is an excellent reference for any Bronco afficianado.

It's all there
This book is basically a compilation of every worthwhile article written about the early Ford Broncos. It is a perfect book for enthusiasts or anyone who is considering buying one and wants to keep the facts straight about model years. Don't buy this book if you are looking for advice on fixing up your Bronco, as it won't be helpful.

Too high level - not enough detail
This book's description and title gives the impression that there are detailed procedures illustrated in the book however it is VERY high level with no detail whatsoever. If you're only looking for mod ideas, this book is fine but if you're wanting down and dirty details, go elsewhere.

A good reference for SN95 enthusiasts
This book is the best available on SN95 in addition to Fox Body. I've read Mustang 5.0 Projects and Mustang Performance Handbook, and they very rarely talk about SN95's.

On the other hand, we have this book (How to tune & mondify your Ford Mustang 5.0): your best choice if you are looking for a good guide on what to put on your SN95 (94-95 Mustang GT & Cobra), what are the advantages and disadvantages of popular aftermarket products, mentioned brand names and part numbers.

Again, this is my favorite book of all the 3 Mustang performance books I've purchased. Don't get fooled by other book authors who tell you their books cover 1979 to 1995 Mustangs because they DON'T in fact tell you Anything about 94-95 Mustangs except putting a single photo of SN95 in the preface.

The only 5.0 book you'll ever need!
As a loyal fan to the 5.0 Mustang; I found this book to be highly educational. Steve Turner gives you the facts; what works and what doesn't, for the small and big budgeted 5.0 enthusiast. I read this book four times over in the first three weeks I owned it. This is an excellent book for anybody who loves 5.0 Mustangs; giving you a brief overview of their history before unleashing you to the masses of useful information it holds. I appreciate how it kept the driveway mechanic in mind. It's the type of book that if you put it down it's because you're running to your Stang; wrench in hand! You won't be disappointed.

It's a Chilton manual so... well, you know what it's for.
If you can't afford the Mercury factory service manuals, buy
the Chilton's guide and get some of your auto repairs done
yourself. It isn't an FSM - no Chilton's manual compares
to an FSM - but it's better on avergae than Haynes' guides and
it won't get you into deep water without ample warnings.

Very Helpful
This book offers some very helpful insights for do-it-yourself car repair. The fuse and wiring diagrams are excellent, and the steps are easy to follow. I actually think this book is a much better value than the owner's manual I got with my 97 Contour. Some of the jobs in the book are not for beginners, however, and there is no list of the tools you will need before starting each job, but generally, this is a great book.

Not for all Cougars!
Do not purchase this book if you drive a '95 thru '98 Mercury Cougar. This manual does not have information on the 3.8L V6 or the 4.6L V8. Nor does it have information on the respective car's transmissions. This book ONLY convers '99 and '00 Cougars. The book you're looking for is "JC WHITNEY - CHILTON REPAIR MANUAL FOR 83-96 THUNDERBIRD, COUGAR."

Haynes Ford Taurus/ Sable 1996-2001
For a beginner in auto mechanics, I found this book very helpful with it's lists of tools, photos and labels of parts. However, my biggest complaint about the book itself is the year models it represents. On the Taurus, for example, the body design changed in 2000, and you can no longer change your own rear turn signal light bulb, the manufacturer has it sealed off with access panels and silicone. This simple process/ repair has to be taken into a dealer to be repaired. This is something the book does not mention because it is talking about 1999 or previous body models. It would just be helpful if the book information represented the exact model years, so there's no confusion. Thanks. -S.L.

Very good instruction of where and how to check
I have read Clinton's book before that shows only pix and how to disassemble. So I haven't exepect much. ( You may read some review on that book. ) However this book explains which part and how to check it. For instancem using multimeter( voltage ). So the reader may find where is the problem by himself. I have read only part of this book ( where my car has problem ) , I am sure this will help a lot. I strongly recommend to the person who want to find the problem and repair it by himself.

Great photos and interesting stories I hadn't heard before.
The photography was excellent and the stories and details on Ford collectable trucks were quite interesting. If you are into old car or truck history or collecting, this is a great addition to your library. Buy it!

Its not specific enough. Especially for my year and model.
It can get your hopes up for easy stuff, but the hard stuff is left out. It lacks the real stuff that shop mechanics' manuals have for each specific year and model changes. I know you; "get what you pay for!"

Easy to read and use
I would like to know why you state that the oil pan can be removed from the Crown Victoria without removing the motor. I have a 1992 and I followed the manual and the oil pan will not pass between the frame and motor. I even removed the cam covers but there is not enough clearance. Am I doing something wrong or is your manual wrong?

I have a question?
I have a 1997 Mercury Marqui Does Haynes have a manual for m
