This would be a great book for someone new to working on cars. I felt they tried to include too many models to be specific. The pictures and diagrams are usually not of my truck. The general information and the plan of action/troubleshooting sections are good.

A number of the truck photos are incorrectly identified. Noticeably in the 1940's and 1950's Being able to identify correct years and models would seem basic to a truck history book. These errors leave the rest of the "Official History" suspect. If you are looking for a pretty coffee table book then this is it. If you are looking for GMC history I would not recommend this book.

Lots of nice factory pictures, and quite a bit of good story about what was going on behind the scenes at G.M. Truck and Coach. The book's strong point is its coverage of the 1960's, when G.M.C. produced a staggering number of different models. I would recommend it, particularly as there isn't any other titles in print devoted exclusively to G.M.C..

You need to look at the way Motor repair books are written,and go by that.

I was not pleased to find this book has no info on Standard transmission repair. It only has R and R which works fine for chunking out a whole transmission but I only needed to know how to fix a shifting problem :(

I found this manual to be lacking in key information. Too much of the manual deals with basic information that any shade tree mechanic has mastered. This manual uses three pages to describe how to change the oil and only 1/4 page on how to remove the front locking hubs.

One would also expect an automotive repair manual that covers 14 model years to include information on all 14 model years.

I would recommend you continue looking for a manual if you need information on the late 60's to early 80's GM trucks.

On the plus side, it soaks up oil almost as well as kitty litter.

It has a lot of usefull information for someone that needs just some basic information but it has left me searching for another book to get more information for my 77 Blazzer.

If you need to know some of the basic stuff it will help out but if you are wanting to restore or work on major parts this is not the book.

After 5 minutes of this book, it became a coffee table coaster. It contains information that Truckin' Magazine has EVERY FRIGGIN MONTH! The detailed descriptions, oh the detailed descriptions. This thing is lucky to be receiving 2 stars.

Horrible! Missing and incomplete information is bad enough but after an engine rebuild and an engine that would not run I found that the information and specs. were plain WRONG. cost me many days of stress and frustration. Buy a real manual and save yourself the headaches!

Went my parnents first bought our S-10 they purchased this book very short after. I did not like this book so I then I went bought Hayes book for S-10s. That is went I discovered a misprint in the Chilton's book a bad mistake. The mistake is on the 2.8liter the firing patern they show is for a 4.3,and the firing patern 4.3 they show is the one for the 2.8. I hope they have corrected this problem. Note: They have own our S-10 for Ten years now. It has always been there for us very reliable.

There are no other ways to explain this book but STINKY, PITIFUL, and AWFUL! I sure hope that if you buy this book you don't actually plan on fixing anything specific. The authors of this book raced through and tried to give as little detail about the repairs they were doing as possible.

I will never own another Chilton's manual. I suggest you stick with the Haynes manuals. The detail is much greater, the pictures are MUCH better, and they actually tore down and rebuilt the vehicle in the Haynes manual.

Please don't waste your money on this pitiful excuse for a repair manual!!

The book takes a lot of space to describe what a relay is, but not where the relays are or what they do on this model car. The book has many sections similar to this, almost like a cut and paste exercise. Generic pictures of tire wear, spark plug condition - who cares? Reference is made to the low pressure switch on the air conditioning circuit - why not show you where it is. Wiring diagrams look like bad photocopies. Pictures of the engine compartment are reversed. Antifreeze colors have changed over the years! I would estimate that only 10 to 15% of the content has to do with the minivan model purportedly covered, the rest is auto "filler" - all in all, a pretty worthless book.

THIS BOOK IS INCOMPLETE. I ordered this book to help me fix a specific problem with my 1995 Lumina APV: The automatic sliding side door has failed. Although this book is supposed to cover all 1990-99 model Lumina, Silhouette, Trans Sport, and Venture minivans, the book contains no mention that I can find of any automatic side door feature. There is a photograph of electrical contacts (Fig 4, page 10-3), but I have otherwise found no information in the wiring diagrams or anywhere else in the book about any wiring or motors used to operate the side door. If information about an ENTIRE SYSTEM is missing from the book, who knows whether the information needed for my next problem will be there?

a terrible book. poor discription, poor organization, pictures are few and appear to be copies of other pictures. the diagrams are incomplete and in all the book [disappoints]. like the two other chiltons that i purchased.

I have this book. good luck finding what you need and fixing it, as it is very poor on detail...

I bought this book at my local auto parts store when I had to replace a blower motor and the blower motor switch. This book was so off the mark in reference to taking the dashboard apart to access the blower motor switch (it did not tell you that you had to loosen the under panel under the steering wheel in addition to the instrument bezel cluster) and so off the mark in reference to the blower motor (there were five screws instead of three screws and the manual did not tell you that the stud that the coolant resevoir mounted to gets in the way of removing the blower motor. You literally have to remove the stud to get the blower motor out of the truck)

A pathetic excuse for a manual. Next time, I will buy a Chiltons

while the book has good general information . the title misslead me by saying it covered diesel engines from 1967 to 1987. i was looking for help with my 1981 chevy luv with a 4 cyl. diesel to replace the injection pump. either there is not enough information to order correctly or im to new at this to do it rightb.
