A Look at the Making of the Tucker Automobile
A little more than 50 years ago, Philip Egan, a young design engineer, had the opportunity to be part of Preston Tucker's dream. As a junior member of the New York based Lippincott team which helped design the prototype car, Egan took very careful notes of his first exposure to a full scale automotive design probject.

Where other books have focused on the drama of the human triumph and tragedy, Egan's focus is the car. However, the appeal of Design and Destiny reaches far beyond those interested only in the Tucker. The basic principles of automotive design are well illustrated. For those interested in creativity, the book provides valuable insight. Though other books and countles articles have been published on the Tucker saga, I believe Design and Destiny is something very special

Dodge Aries and Plymouth Reliant 1981 Thru 1989 All K-Car Models Owners Workshop Manual (Book No 723)

Great guide for the do-it-yourselfer and shadetree mechanic.
This is an essential guide for anyone who relies on one of these cars to "get there" and who doesn't have the trunk stuffed full of money to afford professional mechanics. The manual has an abundance of great step-by-step photos that enable you to get all the pieces back in the car in the order they came out! I have successfully used the book as a guide to change the brake shoes and pads, rebuild the cooling system, remove/replace the alternator, adjust the carburetor and much more. And all without so much as a highschool shop background. I conservatively estimate the book has saved me several hundred dollars that would have otherwise gone to the local mechanic. Even if you don't do the wrench turning yourself this manual will give you a good idea of what may be wrong with the car before you take it in.

History Reviewed in Excellent Form
I will make this short. As an owner of this book, I love it. It goes through the early stages of the '92 RT/10 and its conception. It goes from the early prototypes to the production model in 1992. It has excellent pictures of the prototype and the '92 production model, as well as some really neat concept pictures.

Everyone Who Drives A Car Should Read This Book
This book may save your life. It is an outstanding treatment of a long overlooked subject. Al Karasa does a remarkable job of conveying complex information in layman's terms. It matters little if you are an expert driver, professionally trained, or a beginner seeking your first licence, you will learn equally from this book. The racers' skills, alluded to in the sub-title, are those everyone who drives should have. How to aquire them is clearly explained in DRIVE SMART! and they may well save your life one day. Although this book could be required reading for everyone seeking a license, it is probably more beneficial to those with at least a rudimentary understanding of basic driving skills. Part two even deals with sports (or high performance) driving and professional driving schools which teach much of what is covered in these pages.

Well-written work on three major transportation issues.
Johnston has produced a thoughtful, well-researched and documented work dealing with three issues of major significance to modern citizens: automobile fuel efficiency, global warming and air pollution. There are fascinating insights into the process of legislation and regulation in the US government. This book should be required reading for anyone with an interest in our environment, and concern about the appropriateness of the measures being taken to protect it.

This book should be on the DMV's required reading list!
"Driving to Nirvana" is a refreshing and well written alternative to having to struggle through life's highways on our own. Dr. Bryan provides us with a reader friendly, humorous and practical guide to help us navigate the inevitable inward and outward paths most of us face in our daily lives. Get two copies, one for the home and a second one to keep in your car to entertain and help you maintain your sanity during those long traffic-logged "mini-vacations!" This book should be required reading by the DMV!

Ducati Twins Restoration
Published in Paperback by Osprey Pub Co (October, 1993)
Author: Mick Walker
Amazon base price: $39.95
Used price: $99.00
Average review score:

This is the best book of its kind on the market.
The fact that it may be the one and only is beside the point! Anyone attempting to maintain or restore one of these Ducati models would be well served to buy Walker's book. The price is steep, but the money will be very well spent.

The author, Mick Walker, is unusual in that he is a well respected expert, yet he avoids the slavish PR blather common to many Ducati writers. He paid his dues as a long time dealer and rider, and his approach to the bikes is respectful but pragmatic. Walker writes in a clear, easily readable style. He comes across as someone to spend a few hours drinking beers with in the garage while wrenching on that old Ducati.

The book is also full of excellent photographs, exploded diagrams, and a comprehensive technical specifications section. The text includes exhaustive detail on and the strengths and weaknesses of everything from paint colors to the various electrical systems. More important, it includes useful insights and practical recommendations derived from years of hard work, trial and error. Based on the age and increasing rarity of these machines, Walker's book is an invaluable resource.

One of the most appealing aspects of the book is that it depicts a dollarwise approach to restoring or owning a Ducati. Most motorcyclists may find that laughable, but, if so, they haven't read Walker's book. This is gem.
