A classicEven though this book is quite old, it still applies in the 21st century. Some of the case studies written 30 years ago have played out over time exactly as the author predicted making this a better book than a more recently written one. I highly recommend this as a book that will last longer than the "new economy".

Good resourceBeing new to the tractor restoation hobby, I found the book to be a good resource for information. The index of salvage yards and parts houses alone was worth the purchase price. I found one of those "hard to find parts" in three phone calls and it was shipped out that day!

Great hot rod primer (or refresher course)Even if you're already pretty knowledgeable about hot rods, this book has lots of good how-to sequences that can make your next project go a lot smoother, or provide you with ideas to apply to your own rod.
If you're just starting your hot rod journey, this book will answer a lot of questions for you and get you started in the right direction.
Overall, a great book!

An excellent pictorial history of the RV in AmericaAlthough a very interesting book, the title is misleading. It should have been "A Pictorial History of the Recrevational Vehicle in America". It is not a how-to book at all. Interesting photos and information on vintage units, both home and commercially built, as far back as 1913. Some must be seen to be believed.

Invaluable Tool for Shadetree MechanicsIt's too bad this book is out of print. It was written after the style of John Muir's classic "How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive", and follows the same plain-language explanation of mechanicals and proceedures as Muir's book, with helpful advice along the way like "If you're getting angry at your car, stop for a while." Sound words! Instead of photographs to accompany the text, there are extremely clear artist's illustrations which, in my opinion, surpass most photos that appear in manuals of this type. A very worthwhile book to have for any owner of an old Datsun/Nissan, and one which did in fact keep my '72 1600 Pickup alive for many years. These are still in stock at some Nissan dealership parts counters.

The Big Secret ExposedI'm not going to get into details here. Gary Carr was banned from ever selling cars ever again for publishing this book. It is the sleeping giant of how to buy a new or used car. All the others are secretly in league with with the car manufacturers and dealers. Only Gary blows the lid on the Big Secret. Ya gotta buy this one.

An excellent book for a beginner or experienced mechanic.Mr. Yost has done a very good job of covering very diverse subject matter. Engine designs are so different in the details that most engine books cover just one model or manufacturer. I found all of the information in the book very interesting and will use most of it between the John Deere I just completed and the Ford I need to do soon.
Between this book and your model-specific service manual, even an inexperienced mechanic should be able to complete a tractor engine.
