Lambretta-The World's Finest MotorScooter
In my opinion the Lambretta was the best motorscooter ever made. This book does a great job of introducing one to the Lambretta. Wonderful for all..even envious vespa owners.

Perfect for the Beginner who wants to understand
My car was undergoing a complete engine overhaul. I was a little nervous about the whole situation. So I went to my local library and found this book to help me better understand what was going on. It offers clear and easy to understand descriptions with excellent diagrams. Being of the female gender I wasn't exactly sure what to expect, but thanx to this little book I now know exactly how my engine works, why it sometimes does the things it does, and how to prevent and fix certain situations.

This book is great to look at, especially as my brother's car is featured inside and graces the front cover!! I haven't read a great deal of the text yet, but the pictures are very good quality and cover a wide range of Kustoms from the '50s to the present day. Some absolutely amazing cars are pictured, but there are no individual write-ups on each car. Instead they are used to portray examples of particular styles and techniques of kustomizing. This makes a change from the usual technical details that these sort of books tend to get bogged down in. Well recommended both as an introduction to the world of Kustoms and as a cool coffee table book.... and my brother's car looks great too!

The Leading Edge: Aerodynamic Design of Ultra-Streamlined Land Vehicles

The Best mix of aero theory and real-world examples.
Mr. Tamai has combined understandable theory with real-world operational examples of ultra-light land vehicle aerodynamics. Anyone even thinking about working in this field MUST have this book.

As a person who has worked on such vehicles for about a decade, I can say that there is a vast void in ground-vehicle aero literature; and what is available is pretty incomprehensible to a civilian.

As a person who is trying to figure out how all the formulas and charts relate to something I'm actually trying to design and build, I can say that Mr. Tamai references the theory to concrete examples in a way that is unparalleled in this field.

The biggest compliment I can pay to Mr. Tamai is to say that his book is a key tool for the shop. Builders respect his credentials, which include being a top-notch scholar as well as a winning solar-car racer, driver, and builder for many years.

Our team copy is this minute in the hands of an expert composites person who is building a potential world-speed-record racing dirtboat/land-yacht/sand-sailer.

Amazon, I hope you sell a lot of these books! Mr. Tamai deserves to make some actual money from his brilliant work.

Very good book and fun to read
I enjoyed reading Lease Cars because it was different from any other car buying book I have read. The author made it enjoyable because he constructed a play that guided the car buying and negotiating process from start to finish. It was easy to understand and had useful and very practical tips from a person who himself was a car dealer. I highly recommend this book.

Simple, easy to understand concepts I was able to use.
I found this book very easy to follow. The information is written in lay language. The mathmatical computations are also very simple to make. Best of all, I liked the way Kaye spelled-out the things that I could and couldn't negotiate. He also opened my eyes to the hidden pitfalls. I'm sure I saved at least $1,000 on my lease of a new Nissan Maxima.

Great reference and hobbiest book!
Being an EMT and working with Law Enforcment and a licence plate enthusists, this book provide me with the ability to look up a plate to help out the local PD and also the fun of reading threw the book for my own personal intrest. It provides infrormation for Emergency Service Personel, the begining licence plate collector and the experenced. It provides you with the addresses of state DMVs where you can write to request sample plates. I would recomend this book for anyone with an intrest in licence plates. Also, no police department should be with out this book, espically one that is a big tourist city and gets alot of out of state cars and plates!

Long Road South: The Pan American Highway
Published in Hardcover by National Geographic (October, 1999)
Author: Joseph R. Yogerst
Amazon base price: $
Average review score:

A hard book to find, but the pictures are worth the effort
The Long Road South narrates the travels of writer Joe Yogerst from northern Mexico to the tip of southern Argentina along the Inter American Highway. Yogerst traveled on and off with National Geographic photographers Susie Post and Melissa Farlow for several months in 1998 to make this book.

The book contains five parts and follows Yogerst's travels southward. The Inter American Highway crosses a very diverse set of lands and peoples. The books starts at the border between America and Mexico, where armed guards monitor the highly charged crossing. It ends with a pink sky above the bluish ice riddled land at the tip of Argentina. Along the way the book shows the Sonoran cowboys of Mexico, the serenely blue Lago de Atitlan in Guatemala, glue sniffing children in the slums of Colombia and tango dancers in Argentina. To their credit, the three collaborators don't gloss over things. The book broaches some of the political problems endemic to the countries along the road.

Yogerst chose to chronicle his journey in first person. This changes the hue of the book from traditional reportage toward a subjective storytelling approach. If this aspect adds life to the writing, it also means that the writing focuses as much upon the author's individual experiences as it does upon the countries along the highway. I'll leave it to you to decide how you feel about this -- it depends mainly on how you take your travel writing.

In the spirit of most of the National Geographic Society's publications, the photography is special. In this case, the photography is of a level associated with the Society's magazine coverage. That makes sense, though, because both photographers have worked for National Geographic magazine in the past. In this collaboration, Melissa Farlow covers Mexico, Peru, Ecuador and Chile while Susie Post photographs Central America, Colombia and Argentina.

People interested in photography, travel, and Latin American culture will all find a lot in this book to interest them.

The photographs from this book earned several national awards including several places in the 1999 Pictures of the Year Contest for individual photographs and a national travel writers award for the book as a whole.
