Spiro's passion for roadsters is infectious
Porsche, Ferrari, Lotus, Triumph, Shelby.........The list goes on and on of those great auto makers that produced those two seat wonders that handle as if they were on rails and make those of us who wear a toupe wish we used liquid nails to secure it to our heads as we rocket down the road sans a roof. Don Spiro covers all the bases as he takes us for a ride in these wonderful machines. This book is profusely illustrated and the author truly knows his subject matter. Buy one, you will be glad you did!

Well presented, concise, imformative, & readable
While not the largest reference on Rolls-Royce & Bentley, this book is one of the most pleasurable I've read on the subject. It is very well presented, concise, informative and readable.

Beginning with the first Royce cars of 1904, the book continues chronologically through the 1996 models. I most enjoyed the sections on the Silver Ghost & those on the later models which are given equal coverage with the popular middle year cars.

The numerous illustrations are very well selected. Especially nice are chassis line drawings for most models and many good interior photos. The color photo gallery in the center is beautiful.

Another useful feature is a technical specification chart, including chassis numbers, for each series. If you would like to invest in just one book to tell the story of Rolls-Royce & Bentley, this would be an excellent choice.

This is a MUST read before you buy your next RV.
It provides comprehensive condensed consumer information on hundreds of RV's, including most individual models. This is the closest thing to an RV Consumer Report. I thought I had decided on the RV I was going to buy until I checked it in the Rating Book and found that it was rated low in durability and that highway control and road safety were rated below 25%. As you can see, this gets beyond the glitter and right down to value and safety, things that come first to me. It also gives several other ratings such as maximum pay load and the discount that you should be able to get in your negations based on that of other buyers, etc. I had no idea that you can typically get a 20% discount off new RV MSRP. If you can't find a dealer that will give you the discount, you can contact JD and he will tell you where you can find on that will. If you don't see what you are looking for or have additional questions, JD is responsive to e-mail, has an internet site and telephone calls and has an internet site. You can't lose.

RVing Alaska and Canada
This book is a GOLD NUGGET for Alaska Travelers or Arm Chair Travelers.

I read about "Charlie's" adventures twice through and couldn't resist going there myself. Although I traveled by car I included many of the places which I enjoyed in her book. I found many delightful tiny villages and friendly Alaskans like she wrote about. My trip was unforgetable.

Whether you're an "armchair traveler" or you're planning to visit Alaska, this book is a MUST. I give it five stars!

What a Find!
A real treasure for those interested in old European automobiles of the most collectible kind...and what a story is behind this collection. The brothers were real pieces of work! Well worth purchasing for the pictures alone, but I would buy a hard-cover copy if I had the option.

Scooters
Published in Paperback by Motorbooks International (December, 1995)
Authors: Michael Dregni, Robert H. Ammon, and Eric Dregni
Amazon base price: $19.95

"Quite possibly, it is the best scootering book of all time"
Just when I thought nothing could top the Dregni's earlier book (Illustrated MotorScooter Buyer's Guide), they have come up with another masterpiece with their new book Scooters! In Scooters! the authors trace the history and development of the scooter and make an ambitious attempt to show the effect of the scooter on society and popular culture. The book boldy attempts a full tour de force of the wonderful world of scooters and scootering.... Visually, the book is dazzling. Drawing from archival photos, advertisements, and brochures, many long forgotten or unknown images appear for the first time. Like the text, the photographs are often whimsical and attempt to cover the full panorama of scootering....If you are looking for a book to introduce a friend to the joys and romance of scootering, this is definitely the book. Quite possible, it is the best scootering book of all time. --John Gerber, American Scooterist magazine, Autumn 1996

128 pages of solid gold
An excellent pictorial grab of American trucking history. The timeline of U.S. trucking history takes up five pages of text and from there on the pictorial splendor begins, with chapters dedicated to the various types of commodity haulers, catagory by catagory... furniture removals, produce, hay, livestock, etc.

Excellent truck photos abound, mainly classics from the 1950's to 80's, predominantly color and nicely blended with older black and white snapshots. This book pays homage to the smaller operators and fleets and the roles that they played in shaping transport of today.

There is also a pictorial chapter dedicated to legendary trucks and legendary drivers, such as B C Fry and his Diamond T which "generally ran at night, at speeds in three digits" in the sixties and seventies. If that doesn't do it for you, how about Arnold Guril, who over forty years, owned four Kenworths including the pictured 1972 V12 Detroit extended hood Kenworth?
Peterbilt fans aren't left out either with Bill Sign's 800(?) h.p V8 3408 Cat.

The book makes no attempt to cover every type, make or model of American truck or trailer, though it has the odd unexpected bonus such as a Corbitt, and a couple of Mexican marques for added flavour.

In the same league as Earl Johnston's work and Stan Holtzman's other books.... hard to beat!
