Not only did I use this book as a 'reference guide' I went ahead and read it like a text book to learn EVERYTHING about my 1984 GL wagon. This book also enabled me to do big jobs from replacing engines and clutches, to swapping out drive trains. All with NO prier knowledge! Now that I got a '93 Loyale, I will be picking up the updated version. Remember: ALWAYS go with Haynes. Chilton's manuals are TERRIBLE.

This book starts out with a history of how Americans became mobile and the choices we made with respect to bicycles, mass transit and cars. It then goes into modest detail about the development of power generating stations needed to support electric cars and into great detail about the development of electric cars and how they fit into U.S. society. Development of gas cars is covered in depth only to compare the technologies and illustrate the choices we made. By reading this, you know a great deal about transportation technology and the society that developed it. The last chapter is all about the present and near term future of electric cars. The book offers an excellent depiction of how we have become the mobile society (or mobile mess?) that we became. Recommended for history buffs and especially for electric car enthusiasts.

This book serves two purposes: It is an excellent introduction to the fuel, ignition, and emission systems in modern cars. Also, it serves as an in depth reference book for technician's or automotive engineers.

My 3 year old memorized this book before I knew it. He knows all his opposites- long: short, many lights:no lights, gas powered: soloar powered! Get this and Collicut's 3 others "This Train", "This Boat" and "This Plane." Perfect for the toddler/preschool boy.

This book covers this history as well as threshing rings, the threshing meal, custom threshing and the advent of the combine.

This is an outstanding book for those folks in manufacturing who are starting out on their "Lean" journey. The book teaches the uninitiated an original thinker's way of recognizing "waste" in manufacturing, and often, how to deal with that waste.
