Too much bashing! Not enough unbiased information! This book goes over tricks that a small percentage of dealers still use. Not that informative. Some interesting tidbits, but I'd spend my money elsewhere.
Great Book! A must have for anyone considering leasing.I highly recommend this book is for anyone considering leasing. Eskeldson does a great job explaining all the basics of leasing including terminology, pros and cons, calculating payments and negotiating the best possible deal. Included are many easy-to-use worksheets and tables. Also covered in depth is all of the sleazy tricks and scams commonly used by car dealers to rip-off unsuspecting consumers. Many of these scams I have personally seen (I analyze leases for consumers and attorneys for a living). Eskeldson is clearly not afraid to tell it like it is. In the book he outlines a fascinating web of investigation and class-action lawsuits against car dealerships and the number 2 auto maker - many of which are ongoing today.

History of the "Unibody" Lincolns Motorcars. This book is an excellent insight into the design and production of the unibody Lincolns produced from 1958 through 1969. The author gives you the behind-the-scene view of bringing the Lincolns to production as well as specifications of the different models produced during that period. Anyone interested in these 'classic' Lincolns and Continetals would be pleased with this publication.
Great detailed look at the design and production of LincolnsThis is a good book for those interested in Lincoln's. It contains many photographs, in black and white, of the design stages and final production models. It also has ads used in magazines of the various Lincoln's. There's also several pages on Presidential Lincoln's and their features. The only drawback is the fact it's not in color. Otherwise it's a good book for those of us who know "what a luxury car should be."

pretty good , but doesnt portray the true image of the rx7this book could have been better although i must give credit to the author for the research, and time that he put into the book. well done
A must have for ALL 1st gen rx-7 owners and future ownersI have read through this book and found it's content excellent! This is a "must-have" for ALL 1st gen owners who plan on working on their own cars. It details EVERYTHING about the 1st gen Rx-7 in easy to understand terms with drawings and pictures. It also has a performance section that tells about some of the more common performance upgrades. It even has a section on buying 1st gens and what to look for in a first gen. I would reccommend this book to anyone that currently owns or plans to own a 1st gen Rx-7.

I love my MINI!So, any book about the car I love can't be bad. Lots of detailed history and pictures. Wish there was more on what is to come, but that is of course very hard to do. Also a little les bias towards some of the development team would have been nice. Overall though it is worth the price even if just for the pictures alone!
The Quintessential MINI Book?If you own a new BMW MINI or wish you did, you will want to purchase this book. It has some great pictures that you may not see anywhere else. It seems as though the author (whom was asked to write this book by MINI I believe) was given many images of the development, manufacturing, marketing etc.. of this great car. Graham Robson (the author)uses his typical "hold no bars" approach to laying the facts about the entire development process and putting everything on the table regarding the squabbles between Rover & BMW and much more of the history of the BMW MINI.
This book could be considered the tell all about how the New MINI came to be, but it does lack images and detailed information about the "tuner" and "racing" scene for this car. This is obviously the case because the cars were just becoming available when the author finished writing his book... hence no tuning or racing at that point. In time, other books will be published addressing these topics as this car is really hot for both the "tuner" and the "racer". I do wish the "New Mini" book offer more images of "prototype new MINI's" and expose this topic more than it did. I don't think it was the intent for this book to be anything but the "tell all" of how MINI came to be and Graham Robson has done a wonderful job offering his expertise.
Buy the book, especially if your interested in the details of how the MINI came to be... you won't be disappointed.

Valuable and Well-Written!Most consumer automotive books are poorly written and have little useful information. This book is an exception. While it is out of date (it's mostly about carb applications and makes no mention of centrifugla superchargers, for example) the basic principles are clearly and concisely explained. I highly recommend this book.
injectionI thought it was a very detailed and useful book

A good book, but written by an uninformed author. The book contains some great photos, and is well written for the most part. But the author's 0-60 times and top speeds on one or two of the models were off. A good enough reader, but not to be used as a referance book. And the fact that the GT3 road car was put in and the Turbo S was omitted was a confusing move by the writter, not to mention a few other exerps. A good book for the YOUNG Porsche enthusiast, not a real collectors book.
A 'must' for the Porsche fanaticThis book is the finest Porsche related book I've ever read. The book has excellent specs on almost every Porsche model there is, the only two models that I didn't find in the book were the 912 and the GT1. If you are a Porsche fanaric like me, this is a must!

many things to know about the Speedster, but not only....The book is filled with pictures, drawings and statistic material. Many pictures of the 356 Speedster. The 911 Speedster doesn't get equal attention.
But there's not only information about the Speedster; there's more. This 'more' is in my opinion only of interest for the real Speedster-fan. Pictures of buttons, die-cast modell cars, contemporary cars etcetera take quite some space.
For the real Speedster-fans it's probably a 'must have', for others it's 'interesting'.
Definitive title for a mesmerizing carIn the Porsche 356 community, Carreras may be more exotic, but there's no denying it is the Speedster that is the star. The most recognizable by the non-Porschephile, the "bathtub" is the car that first mixed hot-rod lean performance with european engineering and the Southern California lifestyle. Writing from a distinctive european perspective, this coffee table book is full of historic detail, pictures and collectibles that are just not covered in any other book on the Porsche marque. While there is a nod to the other Porsches with the Speedster nameplate (it was revived in the late 80s), there isn't the same depth afforded the early cars. But for those loveable 50s tubs which show up over and over again in film and TV and advertising, this is the definitive work on an unmistakably unique automobile.

Great Pictures by an "Insider"This book makes a great addition to anyone's GT40 collection. Friedman's pictures document not just the races, but a fair amount of the preparation necessary to get the cars in shape for competition.
As a pervious review mentioned, the coverage stops right after Ford's 1967 Le Mans win, thereby totally ignoring the JWA/Gulf era, but in all fairness, Shelby wasn't involved in those years. This is a book about the *Shelby* GT40 afterall.
I especially enjoyed some of the coverage of the GT40's competitors: Ferrari, Chapperal, and Porsche. This made the book just a little richer.
Ford's assault on Le MansI became a fan of the Ford GT's on a sunday morning in June of 1966. I was 13 years old. Up early before my parents I turn on the T.V. to try to find some cartoons and lo and behold there in living color is the 24 hours of Le Mans. I did'nt really know much about it though the name Le Mans did mean something to me. I was enthralled. As the Ford Mk.II's finished 1,2,3, I became a Ford fan forever. This book recaptures those days and Ford's epic assault on Le Mans in pictures and captions. From the beginning of the program to the all-american victory in 1967 by Dan Gurney and A. J. Foyt in the Mk.IV. My only complaint is that the book ends abruptly with that victory. Boom. But like the jacket says, "to take a look inside is to take a trip back in time." And what a time it was.
However, since I work as a Land Rover Technician in the US I might lean toward a more rounded technical book then most people. Still, if the reader has an interest about those rugged, square Defenders or Series 3 trucks rolling around them this book goes a long way in explaining what they are all about.
