Strictly Off the Record: Grand Prix Controversy and Intrigue

Interesting, but could have been better
Louis Stanley was a major player in the golden age of auto racing, and has intriguing things to say about people and events that I haven't read anywhere else. I'm glad I bought it, and recommend it. However, the book reads as if it was written quickly and carelessly. Sentences are incomplete, or have very odd grammar. Short sections about particular drivers end so abruptly that you find yourself checking to be sure you didn't accidentally skip a page -- as if he intended to go back and complete a paragraph, but forgot to. With the aid of an editor to catch these things, and make him go back and finish up, this book could have been five stars. Still, it's a worthy addition to any F1 fan's collection.

Grand Prix Nostalgia From A Veteran Insider
Back in the 50s and 60s, Louis Stanley annually produced a book-length review of the Grand Prix season. These books were frank, gossipy, opinionated, well-written, and nicely illustrated with Stanley's black-and-white photographs. This new book is very much in that tradition.

Now well into his 90s, Stanley has produced perhaps his final book, a comparative look at the Grand Prix scene then and now. Although Stanley is grateful for the safety innovations that have prevented the wholesale carnage of yesteryear, his sympathies lie clearly with the drivers and traditions of the glory years. Stanley shares the feeling of many that big money has tarnished the sport and eliminated much of the comaraderie and plain old fun that existed even during the years when death on the track was all too common.

Readers of this book will once again see the images of legends like Graham Hill, Count Wolfgang von Trips, Masten Gregory, Jimmy Clark, and Stirling Moss. Whether you agree with him or not, Stanley's pungent pen-portaits are always entertaining, and I smiled to see personality characterizations from his earlier books reappearing here, not always about the same person to which they were originally applied!

So, I admit, there are times when Stanley shows his age. The writing is sometimes a bit rambling and the transitions abrupt, but the photographs take you back too a simpler time and a nobler time. The old BRM chief has given us one last tribute to the sport he loves.

Toyota Production System: An Integrated Approach to Just-In-Time

TOYOTA COSTER MANUAL
I am looking for toyota coster repaire manual RH 89 MODEL pleas send me to any infomation.

The nuts and bolts of how JIT works.
With all of the recent attention to "Lean Manufacturing" (Womak, The Machine That Changed The World, Lean Thinking), this book, now in its third edition, is different. Rather than telling you how to implement the Toyota Production System, Monden gives the reader a comprehensive technical description of how the entire system functions, and how the pieces work together to form the most effecient production system known.

This is not, however, a generic overview. This book covers Toyota's implementation as it applies to building their products. Nevertheless, the principles translate to every industry where things are made.

Any serious practitioner or industry leader attempting to implement or operate a lean production system needs to read, and re-read, this book.

U.S. Hood Ornaments and More
Published in Paperback by Huntsburger Pub (January, 1995)
Author: Lynn Huntsburger

A Glimpse of the articles of a previous age
Lynn Hunstburger has given all car enthusiasts and collectors a leg up by collecting and indexing many of the ornaments you are likely to find at swap meets, auctions or on eBay. I use it often in identifying U.S. hood ornaments at the San Diego (CA) Automotive Museum. The book would have rated five stars except for some errors and no page numbers. When identifying an ornament for someone I always have to add "Regrettably there are no page numbers so I cannot be more specific in the location in the book other than BUICK or FORD or LINCOLN Section". The errors in my 1994 edition (the NASH [broad winged]Flying Lady misidentified as a 1957 item when it was a 1951 item for one) can be forgiven; anyone who takes the time to do a research project this extensive can be expected to err occasionally. The errors will undoubtedly be corrected in the next edition. Thanks to Mr. Huntsburger for a an excellent piece of work.

A must book for the amatuer to serious hood ornament collect
The book is a great resource for identifing old hood ornaments. The photos are clear and crisp.A no nonsense book. Mostly photos with very little wording.

A fun read with lots of history
This is my first VW history book and it was very interesting. I enjoyed the detailed history of the company especially during and right after the war, however it's one failing, in my opinion, was mentioning something and then moving onto another subject. I wanted more details about some pictures and not so many pictures of the same things. For instance there was a picture of a wood burning beetle, but no description of how it worked, yet there were at least 3 pictures of the Super beetle suspension which showed the same thing. All in all though, I enjoyed reading this book and all the VWs in production are covered.

A comprehensive illistrated encyclopedia of VW's cars &past.
This Book is a must for any VW lover. From Beetles to buses, to Things , to type threes, even from Rabbits to Golfs, this book will not leave any VW lover dissapointed after a reading. Complete History, Year by year changes of the bug, many photos, and priceless information are tucked perfectly into this book. Also read about VW based Kit Cars! Flammang does a great job of seamlessly mixing all of these elements in this book. The perfect gift for any VW enthusiast.

Excellent book that ahsd recently been updated
This book came out in the mid-1980s. It has recently been updated by offering a reissue of thsi book, along with a new book on Zagato covering the period 1990-2000, together, in a slipcase..

Well Illustrated Non-Critical History of Zagato
Nicely illustrated history of Zagato. More info could have been provided on Ugo's family and personal life, but the book does track the various locations of the factory around Milano. As is common, the book is basically an ad for a company, in this case Zagato. First published in 1984, in English and Italian.

This is an oldie but a goodie with no extra filler.
This is the first book that really explained the fundamentals of how a race cars suspension works. It is in a handbook form that has consise explanations, with formulas and a math section in the back. If you want a book that covers all the basics quickly and has the formulas to go with it this book gets you there. Written from a circle track perspective.

Alfa Romeo Giulia Coupe: GT and GTA
Published in Paperback by Motorbooks International (September, 1996)
Author: John Tipler
Amazon base price: $24.95

A Must Have For GT Owners!
This is not your generic ALFA coffee-table book. I would highly recommend it to all GT owners and those considering buying one. It includes pertinent information about each of the Bertone 105 coupes, extensive coverage of their racing history and track record as well as practical advise for today's owner. Such as buying and selling, restoration, cutaways and detail drawings, tons of photos, specialist listings, roadtests and much more. I found the book well worth the value. I wouldn't say that it is a stand alone, but like the majority of ALFA books, cross-referencing is the key.

A very good book about a great car
