Battery Technology
This book summarizes the current state of technology in secondary batteries. The presentation is brief, but to the point. All issues related to the understanding of current technology, and future possibilities for advancement are discussed. The reference material is on the short side. This book is an excellent choice for someone who wants to avoid excessive technical jargon, but get to the basic concepts. I highly recommend this book for someone who is starting in the area of automotive and other batteries.

The Journey Home:A Kryon Parable:The Story of Michael Thomas
I have read quite a number of books on inspiration, motivation and those claiming to answer all the doubts of human mind. The thing lacking in most books is they assume a lot about the reader. The degree of doubt is high in such books. Questions like, Why I am not getting the passion? why that excercise is not working?, Is something wrong with me? keep arising all the time. And in the end you end up in a deeper mess than you were before. It does'nt work for most of us I feel. The good part about Micheal Thomas is that his story starts bang into the kind of mess most of us are, bored with life, living but with no excitement, always realizing the futility of everything. The satisfaction that I used to get in little things before is not there even for bigger things. That is exactly Michael Thomas is feeling when the book starts. And as he transforms as and when he gets his answers and as a result I too transform. Most of the time I wish I was Micheal Thomas so remarkable is the identification with him. The book is not a how-to guide to all your troubles, a panacea, but more of self analysis. If you are filled with questions nobody is able to answer grab this book and read it in peace and silence, you may be amazed with the end result.

Great book for driving technique.
This book is geared towrd the racer who is just starting. It will help explain proper line and driving technique. I learned a great deal in requards to throttle and braking but it lacks in proper setup and maintenance. One thing that would have been nice to know is how to properly read tracks. An example would have been to show maps of a track and then show the proper race line in another map.

As a beginner it is a must read before bad driving turns into bad habits.

Bobcat Education
Bobcats (Wildcats of North America) gives a wonderful and easy to understand view of the wildcat living within North America. For outdoor activity educators this book would be appropriate in giving an overview of the life of a creature we must learn to co-exist with in North America. The book is written in a way that is easy to understand for young people and is filled with beautiful photographs of the Bobcat's life. Aspects of mating, raising young, and hunting styles are all provided for the reader's growing education. Included in the book is a glossary for further reference as the young reader pursues his or her interest in wildlife. At the end of the book is some good advice for young people about appreciating beauty of creatures without trying to touch them or pet them , which as a child educator I greatly appreciate! The multi faceted life of the Bobcat is described in a scientific and interesting way to give a complete picture of the life of this powerful cat. The illustrated map showing habitats of the Bobcat are great for backing up the words printed within the text. Jalma Barrett describes the Bobcat in a factual and interesting way that when combined with the beautiful photographs and photo descriptions is able to hold the child's attention. I think this book is perfect for children and young children that camp, hike, perform outdoor activities, and also have an interest in wildlife. One last note about the author is she subtly discusses the effect on the Bobcat by human's misunderstanding of the beautiful creature.

BSA Twin Restoration
Not a must, but a great book for the owner of the BSA unit twin and the BSA enthusiast in general. The title is a bit deceptive - it's not really a "how-to" restoration guide, rather, it's a collection of information about the bikes. The chapters take you through each model's evolution and the book concludes with a wealth of appendices covering everything from serial numbers to carb. set-up. A great book for facts, figures and photos - just don't expect a detailed workshop guide. -Bill Litant, president emeritus, BSA Owners' Club of New England

Bugattis Were Brilliant. "Bugatti" Lacks Deserved Torque.
In the humble opinion of this auto enthusiast reader, one problem with this little Bugatti book is that no book on Bugatti should be little. Everything about Bugatti was larger than life: the stature of its founder, the aura of its reputation and prestige, and, clearly, many of the cars themselves that bore the name. But the book's dimensions aside, somehow it doesn't convey the magnificence of these automobiles of yore.

Laurence Meredith's "Bugatti" is an appropriate addition, perhaps, to a Bugatti enthusiast's collection of books on the marvellous marque, but it is not a very enlightening overview, which, in fairness, it was most likely not meant to be. Its underlying purpose notwithstanding, the the book's text seemed absent of focus, a bit rambling, and, for this reader, it included too much commentary concerning the Bugatti Owners' Club in Prescott, England, for a book directed to the general public.

There are ample photos, all black and white, which can be refreshing in our technicolor world, but many are of rather amateurish "snapshot" calibre. Some judicious cropping under the eye of an editor with even a modicum of experience would have gone a long way to enhancing many of the images. Of interest to some readers, the photos include a number of close-in views of technical details such as chain-drive mechanisms and a steering box (which the author admits to finding "'sculpturally' interesting"). Presumably included for comparison and contrast, photos of other classic marques, while some are impressive, seem superfluous for a small book entitled simply, "Bugatti". Finally, too many of the photo captions are redundant vis a vis their content; others are bland or even silly.

Credit where it's due, Meredith clearly did his research, collected his photos, mingled with hard-core Bugatti preservationists, then valiantly attempted to portray the marque in about 120 pages. What seems to be missing is the "Wow!" factor that Bugatti so richly deserves. Then, too, maybe that's just a Yank reader's yearning for hyperbole -- to which he's all too accustomed -- in response to a Brit writer's apparent penchant for understatement.

great information source
Where can you get oringinal magazine reviews on specific automobiles? This book lets you see your old car as it was seen when new.

I read a review on another of Mr. Clarke's books here, "Impala & SS Muscle Portfolio" that says it was just a bunch of old magazine reviews. That's right, just as it was meant to be. The reviewer from Brazil went on to say that there was limited information on 6 cylinder models. Who cares? It says, MUSCLE PORTFOLIO . . . that does not include 6 cylinders.

This was a great book.

Worth getting if you've got Chaparral fever!
This is a basic black & white book, similar to those model guidebooks with some shots that show detail, and some info on the car, and Jim Hall.

Worth getting if you're really, really interested in Chaparrals, or mid engine racecars. I was hoping for some info on how they built these cars, but there is not much info on the actual manufacturing process. No blueprints or plans either, which is why I'm giving it only 4 stars.

I don't really regret buying it, but I was expecting more. (Expecting too much, perhaps).

Might be inspirational for those who are considering building their own mid engine racecar!
