A little Gem
I have read this book from front to back and am very impressed with both the content and the way in which it is written. I mainly read the book for the ZR1 section but was interesting to find out how the ZR1 has come about from the earlier days. Easy reading and well worth getting for any lovers of REAL Muscle Cars.

Custom Cars & Lead Sleds: America's Best Customs 50'S-90's

very nice
this was my first book of this kind, i bought it many years ago.
i'm a little disappointed to see it is out of print now, because
i still consider it as the best money can buy for anyone new to
custom cars.
the historical backround is unfortunately very compact and technical information is almost not included, but there are other books specializing on history or cartech, in detail.
this book shows you what is 'custom', who have been the
men behind it, why did it develope. excellent pictures show you
restored originals and temporary specimen of this kind, and what
is possible in the field of custom.
mr. remus knows his trade apparently.

Daimler-Benz conspired with the Nazis during the war.
The basic premise of this book is that Daimler-Benz, the maker of Mercedes-Benz automobiles, placed profit before principle and committed criminal acts during World War II. The evidence is displayed as if presented by a prosecutor in court. There is little room for doubt or deception. The book is not always easy to read and the story line is at times hard to follow. There are too many abbreviations that require frequent clarification. Maps should have been included that would have assisted the reader in following the location of the many Daimler-Benz plants. The "story" is important and represents an original contribution, however, the book could have been more "user friendly".

A book for heavy equipment enthusiasts
This Book will appeal mostly to those people interested in heavy equipment employed in the demolition of buildings.

Do not expect to find vintage machinery here, this is a state-of the-art book on how demolition of lage structures is performed today.

the demolition industry has changed dramatically in the past 20 years, especially under pressure from environmental agencies demanding to recycle as much as possible of the demolition rubble.

You wil see plenty of photographs (all in color) of the machinery used today in the demolition of concrete, steel and brick structures (mostly bridges and buildings).

Only a few years ago, demolition was sinonimous of "wrecking ball". Well today the role of the good old "Skull Cracker" has shrunk somewhat and the book shows mostly hydraulic equipment.

The book does, however, devote a chapter and some good photos to the wrecking ball and another chapter to the "implosion" of the 22-story Pacific Palisades Hotel in Vancouver.

The book contains plenty of hints about how this behemoth machinery is operated and interviews of professionals from the demolition field who explain many "tricks of the trade"

A nice source for model kit builders and restores alike
Even though it is not a golden standard for books (it does not show color pictures or hard covers, but instead simple paperback pages and b&W photos), it might by termed an excellent reference for all who are involved in major car restoration or model building projects, since it presents reprinted articles of contemporary magazines, with road impressions, specifications and performance figures fully illustraded. It is a good history reading for all who are not in the hobby, nevertheless, as it show us typical thinking in the mid 60's.

A great book in the automotive world
A great book on the history of one of America's most legendary carmakers. It has just enough history on John and Horace Dodge and their early beginings. It also goes into good detail about the later years after the company was acquired by Walter Chrysler. This is a must read for the avid automotive buff, especially for Dodge, Chrysler and Mopar fans.
