best textbook of hand surgery
this is the most complete and useful textbook i use, and so are surgeons around me

Reviewing Green`s operative surgery
As a member of the Danish Society for Surgery of the Hand, I have spent a lot of time browsing this text-book which has become the bible of many hand-surgeon world-over. The book is a complete listing of diseases in the hand, and covers everything about it. This book not only covers the diseases but also includes the most wanted "author`s preferred method". Drawings are good and easy to apply on patients. This bible will always be the backbone of my handsurgery.

The Bible of Hand Surgery
This is the definitive textbook on hand surgery. Dr. Green should be commended for further improving what was already a comprehensive text.

I Thoroughly enjoyed this book!
I very much enjoyed this book. I found the premise to be very original and unique. I found myself transported to another place and time, to a land with a history and a story all of its own- a story which very much could have been a part of our own global history, were we somehow able to peel back the miles of ice and snow and gain an intimate peek at what truly lies hidden on the last great unexplored land in the world- Antarctica. Robert Hotchkiss has boldly taken on a vast project- Writing a history of an entire continent, which by any stretch of the imagination would be a daunting task for even a seasoned writer, and he does it in a grand style that leaves you longing for more. This is a wonderful book, and I highly recommend it.

Original with a Capital "O"!
I thought that this was one of the most original and thought provoking books that I have ever read. After reading it, I really had to stop and wonder- What if? There really could be ruins of the world's last undiscovered civilization buried under all of that snow and ice, and perhaps even a remnant of it as this book eludes. But this book goes one step further and takes the framework of such intriguing possibilities, and fleshes it out with characters that are memorable, with action that is heartpounding and with intrigue and mystery that leaves one desperately wanting more. The good news is, I understand that more is on the way, and I look forward to "The Summoning" Robert Hotchkiss' second book in this wonderful series with great anticipation. I expect great things from this writer, and look forward to what the future holds in the way of great literary works from him.

This book is a wonderful reference to have in your music class...a wonderful and smart investment. This book is well-thought out and very well organized. There are many games that are organized by grade, difficulty and skills involved.

Great book for beginning music teachers!
This book is excellent if you have run out of ideas to teach your music class. The games are wonderful (and also fun)! I love this book. I use it all the time!

Tons of information on Buddhism in the West!
Whether you're an experienced Buddhist practitioner looking for teachings from genuine lineages, or whether you are a beginner trying to find your way, this book has everything. It's rather long, but each chapter is a stand-alone teaching by a different Buddhist master, all of which are available to practice with should you want to travel a little. What I liked best about it was the fact that it dealt with Buddhism from the perspective of someone that lives in America, works, has a family and other relationships.

The Diaries of Blakely Wilson, an American Traveler in Europe, Egypt, and the Holy Land (1874-1876)

A rarity!
I actually saw this text being transcribed from the handwritten diary. The finished product is a magnificent combination of the original text and commentary from two cousins who are descendents of Blakely Wilson and who, between them, have traveled to the same places that their ancestor did. The text is annotated with well-researched information about the various locations described in Wilson's diary. This book is of interest not only to lovers of Victorian era travelogues but also to people who like to compare what places look like today with what they looked like in the 1800s.

One Damn Good Book
Danger, excitement, despair, conquest, The Medicine Calf has it all. If you can hear the wild lonesome call of the Rocky Mountains, and you like the thrill of adventure in dangerous lands, this book is for you. A terrific acount of the life of a trapper turned indian warchief. This book is a study in Indian culture and life. Certain to keep even the most docile of city-slickers riveted to the action-packed story. Wishing the Rockies still offered such adventure, such a life of courage, truth, and honor, is the unescapable result of reading this wonderful tale.

A Great Resource for Music or Classroom Teachers!
The quality of both the book and the recordings in this set is excellent. The activities are so flexible that I use the kit for both a college-level "music in the classroom" course and a kindergarten music class. The book consists of worksheets designed by Gwen Hotchkiss to teach a variety of musical and interdisciplinary skills--everything from rhythm reading to spelling animal names. It is simply an excellent resource!

Fine First Book!
This a clear, cool collection of poems written with a honest eye and a stark sensibility. Hotchkiss's spare lines expose and contain at the same time, with a kind of quirky intensity that is original and compelling. She makes great use of repetition, the way one would like to savor something, and say it again. She does this deftly and with precision. Her lines are taunt and every word counts. This is a great collection that feels at once old-fashioned and modern, Emily Dickinson meets the new millennium.

The Summoning- A fantastic read!
Even though I thoroughly enjoyed "Earth of Fire, Sky of Ice" Robert Hotchkiss' first book, I became thoroughly engrossed in "The Summoning". This book introduces bold new characters and does an excellent job of developing characters introduced in the first book. Mr. Hotchkiss has done a masterful job of creating a land that is so unique and yet believable, and bold yet not overwhelming. I found the plot to be well thought out and full of excitement, and the story line to flow back and forth across thousands of years of time, in the process weaving an intricate tale of action, intrigue and suspense that left me thoroughly satisfied yet yearning for more. I definitely recommend this book!

Your Owner's Manual
Published in Paperback by Fernwood Management Co (September, 1992)
Author: Burt Hotchkiss
Amazon base price: $4.95
Used price: $3.50

Average review score:

I have one major concern with the basic premise of the book.
The book has a subtle but very serious flaw. The author writes the manual as if he has the true answers to life's basic questions while reminding us several times in the book that "nobody can possibly know the truth." Well, then, how can the author claim to know what he is talking about? He simply contradicts himself at the most basic level of thinking.

In fact, the statement "Nobody can possibly know the Truth" is a paradox in itself! If the statement is true, then it contradicts itself (for how do YOU KNOW that nobody knows?), hence the statement must be false!

This is not just a play on words. How can the author so matter-of-factly tell you all of these owner's-manual-truths... and then keep saying that nobody can know the truth?

The book is a good read and it has many good points to contemplate. But make sure you continue to trust your own instinct for "the truth" and keep in mind that the basic premise (the foundation of the book) is based on a paradox!

Great PRACTICAL spiritual guidance!!!!
Having been consciously on my own spiritual path for almost 20 years now, Burt Hotchkiss has been one of the most inspiring teachers I have encountered.

Your Owner's Manual is not only inspiring, but provides practical methods of dealing with life. I have used many of his examples in my own work, and have given many copies of this book to other seekers of Truth.

I could not recommend a book more highly.

And you thought life came with NO instructions <grin>
I once heard a speaker comment that we came to the planet with NO "owners manual". I got great pleasure in correcting her following her speech by presenting her a copy of "Your Owner's Manual", a creative, down-to-earth practical guide to life. Burt Hotchkiss has managed to condense a variety of life's challenges, and suggest a direction to resolve or embrace them.

His easy, comfortable manner of addressing life's questions, makes every page an easy read. This is a great book to hold and simply ask "what do I want to know today?", and then open to wherever Spirit moves you.

If you're looking for a complicated "self help" compendium of lofty ideas.........this ain't it !!.

IF you are looking for simple applicable solutions or discussions........you've come to the right place.

Burt is so committed to sharing his philosophies, that the book is easily affordable to anyone. Familiar new thought messages string through his book and gently take form in the heart of the reader. Creatively packaged to look like the operations manual for any lawnmower or similar piece of utilitarian equipment, it is an excellent guide to how to operate life.

In other words.........I LIKE this book !! Think you will too.
