For the Glovebox.
A nice handbook which would look good in any E type glove box. The book contains the basic specifications for servicing (Timing, Valve clearances etc), as well as the standard information you expect in a handbook. I nice addition to your car.

The Jaguar File: All Models Since 1922

Good reference book
A catalog of all Jaguar cars 1922-98, including race cars (and a tank!), with technical information and b/w photos. However, there is no information on production numbers/sales/pricing, which I would expect in a complete reference.

Jaguar Mki and Mkii: The Complete Companion

The Complete Source for Jaguar Mk I/II Information
Jaguar MkI and MkII : The Complete Companion is about the only remaining book about the Mk I/II cars specifically. Sure, other books on Jaguar cars touch on the Mk I/II, but this book describes them in detail.

Nigel Thorley begins by detailing the evolution of Jaguar automobiles that lead to the Mk I. Then the evolution turns to the Mk II, where Mr. Thorley delivers a comparison of the two models.

Other sections describe the racing history of the Mk I/II. A very useful section on purchase and restoration of a Mk I/II is also included. More sections cover some of the lesser known variations on the Mk II, including the 240/340, and the Daimler 2.5.

The first time I saw one of these cars, I immediately looked for a book that would provide me more information. This is the only one I found. And, I have to say it would be hard to ask for a better one. This book is an excellent read and a book worthy of any car book collection.

Step out of yourself, place, and time for a mind-trip.
This is a haunting tale that takes you out of yourself, actually almost out of "humanness" to reflect on what it is to know something or somebody. Did this really happen? Was it all a halucination? A dream? Or can we really exist beyond ourselves and learn to know in a new way? I read the book 3 years ago and it still haunts me on occassion. It is written from a perspective so totally different that it makes you step away from yourself and look afresh at your own world, works and thoughts.

A Nice Collection of Articles
This book is a collection of articles, with accompanying advertisements, from "Jaguar Enthusiast" magazine. It covers the major areas from body work, to suspension, to engine, drive train, and exhaust.

I used this book more as a guide to the steps that must be completed. It is not a detailed account of each overhaul. When accompanied by a Jaguar Repair Operation Manual and a Jaguar Parts Catalog, you wind up with almost all of the documentation you need.

Note: This car is most helpful for restoring Jaguar Series I, II, and III cars built from the early '70s through the late '80s. Though some of the information may be useful, this book does not cover newer models of the XJ40 and beyond.

An excellent introductory Jaguar book.
You'd think that an introduction to the world of Jaguar had been done enough already. And, indeed, it seems that each passing addition to the collection adds less and less new material on the subject. Nevertheless, this volume has done a wonderful job as a concise collection of basic facts. The tables, in particular, are an excellent resource. As is typical, this book is written with a decidedly British slant but also provides ample information for the American enthusiast

Good, but a different style...
Let me preface this by saying I suppose I have been jaded by reading Jennings' Aztec series...I just didn't find the pace or dialogue here as exciting.
There is obviously both deep research as well as thought put into this novel, and I respect what the author has created. It does fill in a "blank" in the period novels concerning this time and event- That of who the 2 men were that preceded Hernan Cortes in Mexico. (albeit by chance or mistake!)
I just never felt like I connected with any of the characters - I found myself rather loath to take sides! Actually, I think I identified more with Cortes than the primary character...He seemed less wooden to me.
It's worth a read by all means, but if you're looking for a faster pace, try Jennings.

The Wars of Independence in Spanish America (Jaguar Books on Latin America (Cloth), 20)
Published in Hardcover by Scholarly Resources (March, 2000)
Author: Christon I. Archer
Amazon base price: $65.00
Average review score:

Wars of Independence
Christon Archer has assembled an interesting collection of articles and contemporary documents that provide a thematic approach to the era of the Spanish American Wars of Independence. Archer introduces the volume with an excellent review of the historiography of the subject, with an historical framework for the period and a fine overview and interpretation of these crucial years. In a separate article, Brian Hamnett offers a perceptive overview of the period and of the Spanish reaction to the popular insurrections in America. A section on New Spain provides a close-up view of the struggle at the local level, with articles by Virginia Guedea on the capture of an insurgent courier and by Peter Guardino on the war in Guerrero, along with a counterinsurgency order from a Spanish officers in Mexico and a report on the revolts by Viceroy Apodaca. On South America, Archer devotes considerable attention to Simón Bolívar, including a contemporary description of Simón Bolívar's revolt by Major George Flinter and an 1815 report from a Spanish officer urging conciliatory measures to maintain the loyalty of the local populace in Venezuela, followed by contemporary but opposing views of Bolívar by Generals Daniel O'Leary and Ducoudray Holstein. This is followed by an article by Stephen Sloan on the Morillo expedition and the Riego Revolt, 1815-20. Also in the South American section is General O'Leary's description of the meeting of Bolívar and San Martín at Guayaquil and Bolívar's subsequent dealings with Perú. A final section entitled "The Defeat of Spain in the Americas" includes Timothy Anna's astute account of the "fall of Royalist Peru," Rebecca Earle's description of the horrible toll taken by disease in the wars, and Margaret Woodward's informative discussion of the difficulties of Spanish Army service during the Wars for Independence. The volume concludes with a brief, but very useful bibliographical essay. Lamentably, there is no index. While the volume is by no means a comprehensive collection on the period, it does give considerable insight and knowledge on the nature and consequences of the wars of independence.

mukticulturalism
This book is excellent for early elementary students. The language is simple and clear. The stories are extremely interesting and will enlighten the reader to other cultures. The accompanying pictures contain endearing little characters that children will adore. This alphabetically arranged collection will introduce young readers to a new set of tales, unlike they 've ever heard before. I loved it!

Get up to speed quickly with OS X
There are plenty of little tricks in OS X that seasoned users take for granted: just clever little ways to move windows, adjust icons, speed up common tasks with key-combinations.

If you have come to the Mac as a "switcher" from the world of Windows, OS X can appear a little alien. This is the ideal book to help you feel more at home: don't tell your more experienced Apple buddies you've bought it, and they will be extremely impressed when you demonstrate your new knowledge. And of course you'll be happier that you've adjusted the Dock to work the way you want, found a quick way to open your Home folder and discovered a new way of using iMovie.

Killer Tips is a beautiful looking book, and the price is good too. Definitely worth a peek if you are a new or new-ish Apple user, or want to one-up your Mac mates. It's like several years worth of Mac magazine tips in one glossy book.

A tip or two for everyone!
This is a terrific book for brand new users of Mac OS X, but if you're a long time user it's value falls a bit. A lot of these tips are keyboard shortcuts and other little things that you pick up just by messing around with the OS. But there are so many hidden corners of OS X that you're bound to miss a few and that's where this book comes in.

The tips cover everything from the iapps, to managing the Finder, the Dock, the Classic enoronment, icons and more. There are so many tips offered, covering so many aspects of your Mac that you're bound to run into a few things that pique your interest. I discovreed the Font Panel because of this book and it has helped me so much, that it alone makes the purchase worthwile. Thats the kind of benefit this book can give. You might have to wade through a bunch of stuff you already know or don't care about but then, you run into someting that makes you jump for joy!

If you are a Mac user, get this book!
If you are a Macintosh user, get this book!

There are a ton of good tips and hacks. Even a Mac veteran such as myself learned a lot.

There is so much so everyone in this book.
