Beyond 5 Stars!investors ... . It has all the information relevant to the world of investments, mutual funds, stocks, bonds, indices ....
All presented in as simple way as possible to the man in the street. Yet in it's own way I would think even the expert money
managers will hate to give this book a miss!
Everyone planning to retire should read this bookI have never been able to stay in the market when it got rough. But this book showed me why I need to stay in, even when all the bad news tells me to get out. More important, I learned that if I use a wide allocation of funds, I will actually have less risk. This was a real eye opener for me.
I am very grateful the author took the time to write this book. It will change my entire approach to investing. Now maybe I will actually achieve my objectives. Thanks

Funny, moving, poignant... and fearless.Alternately showing herself to be our big sister, best friend and cheerleader, Walker has, er, bared all in the higher interest of exposing the stigma associated with breast cancer for what it is: a killer.
But she doesn't stop there. Walker shares perhaps the most telling detail of all, that her own mother is a breast cancer survivor, and passed a steely will and hearty sense of humor on to her daughter. An inheritance that may have saved Laura's life. Discover that as one quote used in the book puts it, "Whoever is happy will make others happy too." (Anne Frank)
I'm decidedly not a crier, but I did cry through the chapter written by the author's husband. I recommend this read-it-all-in-one-sitting title for anyone with breasts.
Silly, Real, RefreshingLaura Jensen Walker has something to say about breast cancer. She's a survivor. She has faced this beast, and now is able to articulately help readers smile in the midst of a tough time.
In "Thanks for the Mammogram!" Jensen tells her story. Most of the book details a narrative of her diagnosis, treatment and how she survived. However, in reflecting through the most difficult of moments, she draws us in ala Erma Bombeck into candid silliness. It is as practical as it is funny.
Boldly bringing humor into a discussion of cancer marks this book as a standout among its peers. Having lost my mother to lung cancer and flipping through too many solemn tomes of pop-psychology, I read through Jensen's book refreshed. I wished my mom could've read this book. At a certain point, cancer is cancer, and anyone with any cancer would enjoy "Thanks for the Mammogram!"
Each page is a different view of her situation. For example, she spends a delightful chapter on the end of her chemo, and how she and her husband (a 'Disnoid') celebrated this landmark at Disneyland. We read of her struggle to find a decent book to read (unless Mickey Mouse's various adventures appealed to an adult woman, that is).
The chapters are in very chewable chunks--none too long.
With chapters like, "To Baldly Go Where I've Never Gone Before" (a consideration of Capt. Jean Paul-Luc Picard, Michael Jordan and other sexy baldies, she looks for the upside of a hairless head), you, like me, might find a new way of seeing what so many people go through.
She admits her fears, but pushes also the benefits of having a realistic, yet positive view of dealing with breast cancer. Jensen explains her husband's point of view in the whole matter (even letting him write a chapter, "Her Body, His Pain"). She walks the reader through the process, citing how she related to people who had or didn't have cancer.
I fully recommend "Thanks for the Mammogram!" by Laura Jensen Walker. It is a very worthy gift for those whom you love who have cancer, or know someone who does.

Laughing through the PainWhat is more healing than laughter when you are faced with a situation you can't control? Even science has shown the healing power of laughter. Cancer isn't funny, but somehow the author finds a way to heal through her own vibrant wit. Many of the chapters are rather serious until the end when she gives the punch line.
This is a book about courage, hope and humor. Laura Jensen Walker demonstrates her ability to face the challenge of cancer and fight it with faith, hope and "mild/laid back" humor.
I learned a lot about reconstruction, chemo and was amazed at how Laura's husband stood by her through the entire process.
"How to Lose Thirty Pounds in Thirty Days: The Chemo Diet Way. The original Slim-Fast liquid diet. (But not one I'd recommend.)" was an interesting chapter to be sure. This spells it all out, tells you what chemo is all about and it isn't fun especially if your nurse forgets to give you "zofran." Yes somehow Laura finds a way to appreciate the effects of rapid weight loss even when it is the result of chemo.
If you want to understand what a cancer survivor goes through, this is the book. I recently read "Knowing Stephanie" which I can also recommend for the detailed information and pictures.
The last chapter on what really matters was also quite inspirational.

Move over, Fox Mulder. Agent Donnelly is here.Tough Fibbie that he is, Jake wants nothing to do with Muffin until he finds out his beloved Aunt Sophie has tied his inheritance to his care of the dog, and that in the event of his default, all reverts to the lovely LeAnne. Quickly, we find out why Jake is so emotional about one of Aunt Sophie's properties. He's also suspicious about LeAnne's occupation and her up-scale resort for humans and their canine owner. Certain that she's fleecing the unsuspecting, he decides to play along with the terms of the will if only to debunk the doggie shrink. What evolves is one of the most entertaining stories I've read in a long time as Jake and LeAnne at first circle each other warily and then break down and admit their attraction for each other.
The book had me laughing and, in the end, crying. It was one of those books I wanted to go on for another 300 pages or so *just* so it wouldn't end. My heart went out to Jake and how important his Aunt Sophie and Uncle George were to him. And I loved LeAnne for her ability to get 'close' to him and help him.
I don't know of a better way to spend a couple of summer days, and if Amazon would let me, I'd give "Against His Will" a 6-star rating. I can't recommend this one highly enough and I'm looking forward to Ms.Jensen's next release.
A Fun Read!
It's not puppy love...Despite being surrounded by dogs, Jake and LeAnne's love is anything but puppy love! Trish Jensen totally rocks!

Very highly recommendedZoe Zignego uses the contents of her psychic dreams to aid police to solve ghastly murders and later spins the stories into best selling novels. Her quest for peace leads her to flee St. Paul and buy a house in Missouri's foothills of the Ozark Mountains. The long abandoned home held irresistible appeal for Zoe, for the woman who can't seem to live with the living seeks the company of the dead rather than being alone. Her roommate is an rascally ghost named Wilbur, who provides comic relief and a mystery of his own.
Repairs to the house, which dates from the 1800s, prove expensive. Zoe needs to quickly generate some cash flow to replace her badly depleted bank account. RelunReluctantly begins a new novel, based on her current investigation in partnership with the Larry Larsen of the St. Paul police department. Zoe's never written a novel prior to solving a crime before; as she creates the story, she takes the reader through the process of the writing. Zoe's very uncomfortable with the concept of profiting from the tales of murder and mayhem, and her discomfort escalates as she realizes that her dreams have become precognitive and that she has a direct psychic connection to the serial killer. One he is equally aware of. As she writes the novel, Zoe recreates the killer's motive, environment and his past. This metafictional quality lends the novel fascinating flair and insight from a unique perspective.
Be careful when you start reading THE 8TH HOUSE by Wendy Jensen, or you may fall into the trap I did, promising yourself just one more chapter until you finish the book at 2 a.m. on a work morning! As a paranormal mystery lover, I was impressed with the creative edge that Jensen brings to her work. In an increasingly flooded arena of strong women sleuths, Jensen has created a heroine who stands out like a rare gem among many beautiful semi-precious stones.

A Fly On the Wall. . .
THANK YOU, LAURA JENSEN WALKER!
Wait? I?m going through some of this already! After reading this book, I'm starting to wonder. Ok, so that was PMS (right?). According to Laura, PMS is a picnic in the park and you go from PMS to perimenopause. Oh, joys.
I think Laura could survive anything in life as long as she found a way to laugh about it. She has somehow found a way to turn every bad situation in life into a joyful celebration of wit. It is quite refreshing. This is my favorite book so far.
The author of this humorous book was only forty-two when she started having hot flashes. I want to ask her if tossing your covers off in the middle of the night is a sign, but then I remember my husband turns down the air conditioning on a regular basis. According to Laura, she is always turning the air conditioning on full blast when one hits.
I love where she says: "Over the years, I've subjected Michael to plenty of unhappy PMS parties as well. Beginning in our dating days. But since he proposed marriage to me during a particularly emotional PMS attack, I figure he knew what he was getting himself into."
She discusses the joys of hair growing on your face (PCOS can do that too, or so I heard ;) after forty, the fight against mother nature and explains the very scientific and exhaustive list of Middle-Age Terms. Her "How to Take Care of Your Over-Forty Self" sounds so comforting.

Unless...
A Powerful Reading Experience...The thesis is a simple one: We are killing the world. It's Jensen's rugged, insightful, and raw analysis of how and why we're doing it that makes me shudder when I read it. Having studied many of these themes before (well-written in books like Daniel Quinn's ISHMAEL), I've not encountered this subject in a way that touches the nerves that Jensen has managed to tap into. Killing the world, after all, is a horrifying thing, and Jensen exposes the horror by shining a bright light on it and analyzing where it comes from.
It's a brave book and a bold statement. And one that will be hated by many, particularly those who have a vested interest in keeping things the way they are. The bottom line is this: if you read this book and find yourself affected by it, there's a chance for all of us. If you read this book and wonder what all the hoo-hah is about, you're too far gone and wrapped up in our cultural ways and vision to ever find your way out. If you read this book and find it threatening to your way of life, then you're the enemy, and you need to reconsider which side of the line you stand on.
I can't think of a higher compliment to give a book than to wish that I'd had it within me to write it myself. I wish I had this kind of insight and courage, and I'm grateful that Jensen does.
I jolt to the spirit!!After reading this, I began to practice listening to the language of Nature even more, and all of the things that she is communicating to me.
This is an excellent read!!!

A hilarious romp of a love storyThis is a very funny book, somewhat in contrast to 'His Grace Endures' which, while it had its amusing moments, was more heartwrenching. Jensen in this book reveals a light touch and a gift for putting her characters in ridiculous situations; her narrative also has some very amusing touches to it, particularly some of Tarquin's introspection.
I think the second reviewer from Hong Kong missed the point of this book: it is *supposed* to be funny. Additionally, I'm puzzled as to how s/he can say that Tarquin wasn't attracted to Sibyl. It was obvious all along that he was more interested in her than he wanted to be, and there were plenty of subtle hints: the way he sought out her company in preference to the company of others at times; the way he started to notice the colour of her eyes; how well she looked in her blue dress; the scene when he sought refuge in her bedroom - there, his attraction to her was blindingly obvious, and I'm not sure how this reviewer missed it. And, of course, when she escorted him to his room when he was drunk - he may have been drunk, but he wasn't incapable! Not to mention the conversation through the locked door. After all that, I have no idea how anyone could say there was no attraction or chemistry.
This book is quite a contrast to my other favourites, books by Oliver, Balogh and Kelly for example, but as a comedy-romance it is excellent.
Extremely enjoyable bookBut Sibyl is no longer a mischievous child in pigtails wreaking havoc in his life, she has grown into a beautiful woman whom he finds himself strangely attracted to. The story is wonderfully funny, the monkey alone will have you up in whoops, so make sure you read this book privately if you don't want people to eye you oddly!
Emma Jensen is a wonderful writer and she draws her characters with wonderful accuracy and detail. This is one book you'll want to keep since you'll probably enjoy reading it again and again.
Wonderful farce about a stuff shirtSibly is the unexpected guest -- the guest he really doesn't want -- and of course, the woman he really needs in his life. It doesn't take Tarquin long to figure out he would be crazy to marry any of his "perfect" brides, no matter how much planning went into their selection. It takes him a little longer to admit that the best choice has been in front of him all along.
The would-be brides add much of the humor -- but the funniest moments come from Tarquin's reactions to the chaos.
Though this is a farce, don't let that keep you away. There are also lots of passages of subtle humor. Now that I think about it, I might reread this shortly...
