Great Gift
I purchased this for my dad for Christmas and he loved it!

Joan
Hi I received my book in good condition. I was very pleased with your company. I will shop with you again. I know my dad will be happy with his Christmas gift. Do you sell glass lamp globes. I have a pink lamp with only the bottom half. I am looking for the top. It is pink with roses and a small covered wagon with a couple of stands of wheat around it. It is raised design that you have to look close to see.

Thanks
Joan

If you love tractors...
then this is the book for you. I bought it as a gift for a knowledgable friend and he was in raptures. I now know more about John Deere tractors than I ever dreamed it was possible to know! This book covers every John Deere tractor ever made and covers them in great detail. The photos and vintage posters add to the appeal of this tractor encyclopedia.

Best book on later model Deere's
This is a great book on late model John Deere equipment from around the world. It is filled with color photos. It describes equipment chronologically and by type. Not only does it discuss agricultural equipment but it covers construction and lawn and garden equipment. There are charts on equipment statistics and it has a large section on the "New Generation of Power". If you are interested in later model Deeres, then I highly recommend this book.

BEST BOOK EVER!!!
If you are into John Deere during these years, this is the book to have. Awesome. I want to run out and paint my car green.

Macmillan excells.
Don Macmillan has produced a work of art. He has taken archieve and personal knowledge and combined them to produce a masterpiece of tractor and equiptment history.

Exhaustive Summary of Product Development and Photos
I knew very little about the history of the Deere & Company until I read this book. I was interested in learning more because my parents each grew up on farms, and often refer to their early experiences with plows and tractors. Now, I can discuss their experiences in a reasonable fashion.

I'm also interested in how companies innovate, this book is a fine source of information on the revolutionary and evolutionary changes in the Deere product line.

The book also details the organizational development of Deere & Company and its CEOs. That was also valuable information for me.

As rich as the text is, the photographs are even better. I especially enjoyed seeing how changes in various functional and aesthetic characteristics occurred. The streamlining and adding of comfortable seats with back supports are particularly striking. I also enjoyed how the engine design was improved.

There were only two weaknesses in the book. First, there could have been a little more information about how competitors were doing at the same time. Those references that are included are fascinating. Second, many of the advertisements are reproduced in such a small size that you cannot read the copy.

I would encourage you to also look for books that connect to your family's heritage that can make the past come alive as this fine book does!

Excellent book for antique tractor enthusiasts!
Mr. Sanders has created a book that needs to be part of anyone's collection of books documenting antique tractor power. Each of the 150+ photographs of restored John Deere tractors are absolutely superb and demonstrate the author's skills as a photographer. The original ads and brochures included throughout the pages are a nice addition, although the text is often too small to read in some of them. Aside from the grahics, the text is well written and the chapters are logically arranged according to the stages of John Deere tractor development. I particulary enjoyed how the book included both the history of the Deere organization and the history of the general agricultural trends that helped shape the company's decisions. The author has even set aside pages devoted specifically to address certain special topics, such as the arrival of the early motor cultivators, and the partnership with Deere and the Dreyfuss organization to add styling to the original "A" and "B" models. For those enthusiasts interested in detailed documentation of serial number records and such, other resources may be more appropriate, but for those of us who enjoy a readable history with excellent photos along the way, this book is excellent.

Tractor Jokes Plow Deep Smile Furrows!
My father's family grew up on a farm in central Illinois where they raised corn, soybeans, cows and pigs. Naturally, one of the joys of being a youngster was to visit our grandfather and to crawl all over the farm equipment. While there, I remember a particular brand of humor that was both drier and more restrained than the humor I was used to in Southern California. Reading 101 Uses for an Old John Deere brought back all of those wonderful experiences for me.

The book is a handy size to carry around, so you can share the good humor inside its pages with those you meet.

The 101 uses are arranged as follows:

Matters of Growing Up, pp. 8-27

Matters of the Heart, pp. 28-35

Matters of Everyday Life, pp. 36-79

Matters of Fun, pp. 80-91

Matters of the Soul, pp. 92-95

Matters of Growing Old and Wise, pp. 96-108

Each use is illustrated by either a drawing, an old advertisement, a painting, or a photograph. A brief headline captures the "use" and a short sentence explains the use.

What makes the book charming is that the uses are very unexpected and humorous. Here are some of my favorites:

High Chair; Jungle Gym; Lego Set; Goal Posts; Hiding Place; Anatomy Lesson; School Bus; Flight Simulator; Driver's Ed Vehicle; Guy Magnet; Hot Date; Ride to Lover's Lane; Wedding Present; Honeymoon Cruise; Volkswagen Bug; Lamborghini; Muscle Car; Convertible; Taxi; Minivan; James Bond 007 Spy Vehicle; Stealth Fighter; Lunch Counter; Posture Builder; Beach Chair; Exercise Bike; Dog Walker; Mother-in-Law Apartment; Lawn Ornament; Insurance Claim; Fertilizer; Junk Pile Starter Kit; Sci-Fi Movie Terror; Christmas Tree; Second Husband; Sex Symbol; Time Machine; and Perfect Ending.

To give you a flavor of a "use," let's look at "Goal Posts." "The exhaust pipes on a John Deere Model D were just right for kicking field goals in a friendly game of football." The image is face on towards a tractor. "Christmas Tree" has two tractors festooned with colored lights in front of a house similarly lit on a snowy night.

If you personally love John Deere tractors, this book will bring you much delight. Even if you don't, you should give it as a gift to someone who does love this American icon.

After you finish smiling your way through the book, consider what other parts of our American heritage can regularly bring a smile to your face. Do you have enough samples of these other symbols around to keep you smiling all the time?

A thoroughly enjoyable and nostalgic book
Compiled by American tractor enthusiast Cletus Hohman, Classic Deere Tractors is a showcase album of a wide variety of farm tractors from 1914 to 1970. Full-color photographs present each of these classic "big green" tractor models, while brief captions containing just the facts about each model enhance what is primarily a pictorial tribute. Classic Deere Tractors is a thoroughly enjoyable and nostalgic book which is specifically and enthusiastically recommended for dedicated tractor enthusiasts in general, and John Deere fans in particular.

Nothing Reads Like A Deere
The Beetles Anthology may have a great beat, but Genuine Value: The John Deere Journey is easier to dance to. It's a must for anyone who bleeds green (or industrial yellow). Genuine Value takes you on a pictoral journey through 163 years of history of one of America's oldest and most respected companies. Great photos, inspiring prose, the only thing missing is more pics of the company's many construction products. The back-of-the-book listing of the corporation's 63,676 current employees and retirees is a nice tribute to the many men and women who have and continue to delver genuine value to hundreds of thousands of Deere customers worldwide.

A photographically illustrated history and tribute
Genuine Value: The John Deere Journey is a magnificent, 286-page, photographically illustrated history and tribute to one of America's most successful and enduring corporations. This is the story of the John Deere contributions to agricultural technology, documented with historical and vintage photos from a John Deere Model A tractor working a field during the Great Depression to today's John Deere high tech, computer-controlled manufacturing line. Of special note is a 42-page timeline describing significant financial and corporate events in the company's history decade-by-decade, and includes a pictorial review of the products of each era. There's even a section which includes the names of every living retiree and employee as of January 1, 2000. Genuine Value will be read and browsed through with enthusiasm by anyone who's life or whose parent's lives where touched by John Deere.

John Deere-The story of the revolution!
I've been a John Deere man for forty years and have often wondered what farming would have been like if John Deere had not revolutionized the farm machinery industry in 1960. Genuine Value tells the story of that revolution. It is full of great photographs of tractors and farming practices (old and new) like many tractor books, but it is more. It is also a unique look at and tribute to the people and business behind the product lines and factories. I love that it contains the names of all the people who have helped to produce these great products, both current employees and retirees.

Enjoyed the Book . Worth Buying
The great color photos and old memorbilia made this book very enjoyable to read. Wish there had been more of it.

Essential reading for the John Deere Collector!
This book goes a long way in filling the void in the hobby of collecting John Deere memorabillia. While numerous books abound regarding John Deere toys, John Deere Collectibles explores the various advertising give aways and promotional items employed by Deere through the years. From watch fobs to brochures to banners and signs, it gives an excellent overview of the breadth and depth of memorabillia out there. This book leaves you excited about what you might aleady possess, or items undiscovered in the attic, barn or flea market. For the novice or experienced collector, or even someone simply nostalgic for John Deere, John Deere Collectibles by Brenda Kruse should be a welcome addition to your library

Down memory lane!!
What A wonderful job Brenda did with the many Deere items that we have forgotten about. This book is for any tractor collector or people with an interest in the way it used to be will LOVE this book.Plus it has some guide lines on what the items are valued at,good job Brenda thank you.Jack=JDFARM:>)~
